[002] Action/Video - Freelancing
Action: Price Shopping in Fayren
Peter had to give it to this place, the Decontamination Walkthrough that had been installed was a lot more pleasant than the orange slop that had serve the same purpose in the Kyln. The fact that it didn't leave him looking like he had a really bad fake tan was a plus too.
For now, he wasn't paying too much attention to the Archway itself - though he knew he would have to eventually. There would, presumably, be more time for that after he was back - and there were more cities, some of which weren't currently undergoing plagues and decontamination.
It was evident - really, really, evident - that Fayren and Genessia didn't quite match up. It was too rural to be that close - and then there was the Archway.
Still, he made his way into the town, asking anyone who looked friendly enough where he might be able to go to get some estimates on custom horse tack.
He had his mask on - better safe than sorry, whatever they'd said about the plague only effecting magic users.

Hey, Alley? Got some estimates for you. You two still at the park?

Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
Back in Limsa Lominsa, she had a lovely home, a tavern she frequents, a beautiful set of fishing rods, bait, and tackle which she is immensely proud of,and easy access to all the fish she can eat. In Genessia, she sleeps wherever she comfy, she fights anyone and anything that looks at her funny, and she eats whatever she get her paws on. She doesn't mind the lifestyle, she's a tough kitty cat, but the it has it's downsides.
Like cleaning her armor for instance. She doesn't have a private, quiet, and safe place to strip down and clean it. She had to resort to taking borrowing a tub, soap, and brush, and stripping down in an alley in Fayren to clean.
So if Peter just listens carefully, he'd hear her whistling and scrubbing her armor in her underwear. She has no shame. Also common-sense.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
Following the sound had seemed like a really good idea, at least, until he found its source. Then, he freezes, staring at the woman who seemed to be doing something to her armor in practically nothing.]
Don't you just hate laundry day?
[He hadn't meant to say anything, and then there was nothing that he could do to stop it.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
Let's pause here for a second. Female dark knight from a world where robots everywhere aren't really a thing, and anything that commands a robot is an asshole and a half and deserves to die, and combined with the fact that her education has been neglected and her impulsiveness is through the roof, there is only way this is going to end. So back to her seeing Peter.
Her ears and tail shoot upwards, the fur on the latter standing on ends, as she drops the brush she's holding and grabs her ever reliable greatsword and crouches into offensive stance.]
IFRIT'S FIREY PISS!!! QUILL! IS THAT YOU?!?! WHAT IN THE GODSDAMN NAME ARE YE?!?
[If you look clearly at her face, it is contorted in a way that makes her look like she's worried, confused, and ready to kill and not kill you, all at once. It's pretty magnificent.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
WHOA, WHOA, YES, IT'S ME! HUMAN? MOSTLY?
[What else was a recent subject of contention. He honestly had no idea, but he found it really strange that the cat-person he'd talked to once was breaking out the philosophical questions. Then, as he was taking a breath it hit him.]
Oh! Wearing a mask, I'm wearing a mask - here, Khloe. See?
[He kept one hand out in caution, and with the other disabled the mask so that the only trace left was a little piece of metal and tech behind his ear.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
She stood there for a second before breathing out and relaxing her stance, the tip of her sword landing on the ground with a loud metallic thunk.]
Gods, Quill....ye shouldn't be walkin' 'round these 'ere parts with summin' like that....I nearly ran ye through....
[She sighs again, resting her sword against the wall before she goes back to sitting on the floor to scrub her armor.]
So? What brings ye 'ere?
[Clearly she is not bothered by her being in underwear in public.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
I was just keeping it on because of the whole plague thing I heard about? I'm not, y'know, magic as far as I know but I really don't try my luck if I can help it.
[He was definitely leaving it off now, however.]
I kinda, kinda got that impression, yeah. I appreciate it that you didn't. I mean, I could've gotten out of the way but I already had some kind of zombie horse unicorn wannabe try to gut me today and once a day's enough for me. You know? That's actually why I'm here.
[His confidence, slowly, is returning to his face.]
I'm looking for a place to get some horse clothes made. You happen to know a place?
[If she wasn't going to address being practically naked, he wasn't going to.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
...There's a plague?
[Here she is look at him again, this time a little paler and her gold eyes are wide as saucers.]
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
[Though her look of surprise almost makes him doubt it, even though he'd just been through a decontamination walkthrough less than an hour ago.]
Something about only people with magic being able to catch it, or...something? You didn't...? Huh. I saw some announcement about it being kind of under control right after I got here.
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
[She squints. Does being a dark knight count?]
Well, seein' as I'm still bob, I don't think I'll be affected by this bleedin' plague....I 'ope.
[She think visiting a doctor wouldn't be so bad this week.]
Anyroads, ye were lookin' for summin' for 'orses, aye?
Re: Action (Cause I'm trash and GOTG Vol 2 was awesome)
[But, it seemed, he wouldn't explain what that meant.]
Yeah, I need a place that makes tack. I've got his bony little measurements, just need to figure out the best place to get some estimates. You happen to be familiar with anything like that?
no subject
[She thinks for a second....and another....and another.....then she starts scrubbing her armor, an absent minded look in her eyes. Her jaw starts to open as if to say something but then it closes again, doubting herself. Then it opens...then closes.
A few minutes pass before she actually gets something of substance and pulls a piece of folded paper from her binding bra, unfolds it to reveal a small hand drawn map. There are strange runes on it.]
Where is that bleedin'...Ah, there we are!
[She points to a spot on the map and show it to Peter.]
When I went explorin' an' I found this 'ere stables. I 'ear they 'old all sort of critters and the like. 'orses included. If they don't 'ave the things ye be lookin' fer, then they'd probably know who ye can get it from!
no subject
[He looks away when she reaches into her bra though, and doesn't look back down until she says something else.]
Yeah, I mean. Stable makes sense. They'd have to get their stuff somewhere, right?
[He peers closer to the map, and hazards a look around.]
So it's that way, right? [Peter asks, pointing.]
no subject
[She stops scrubbing to stand and take a look around, cursing when she realizes her tail was wet.]
Ummm...[She stands next to Peter, hand on her hips before her ears shoot upward and she reaches into her binding again to pull out another folded map. She snatches the one he's holding and joins them together to form a whole picture of Fayren.]
Annnnnn, nope. Ye want to head the opposite direction.
no subject
[Peter informed her, quickly. Kind of a lame cover, but he had pride. With his free hand, he pulled out his glorified smartphone and with minimal fiddling, managed to take a picture of the maps together before pocketing the communicator.]
Thanks for the help.
private video
We are, yes.
[ Jethro has taken to charging around the area and can be glimpsed briefly behind the elven woman's shoulder as he gallops by. ]
re: private video
[He wasn't really looking forward to fighting with a map.]
Be right there.
[Carefully, he noted, watching Jethro run in the background before shutting off the video.]
action
"This time try not to go all 'defend the Inquisitor' on me, alright buddy?" Alley knew the spirit could at least somewhat understand her... and if it understood less than she thought it could, well, at least her calm tone would help. Just like with a regular horse, that.
But, better for him not to be all riled up and galloping around in the grass when the human showed back up again.
"You can't charge at everyone we meet. You didn't do this on Thedas... just jittery, are we? There we go, just relax."
Re: action
Not to mention that he wasn't interested in getting a tetanus shot.
"Got your stuff here," Peter told her once he was close enough in lieu of a greeting. He smiled welcomingly enough as he pulled the notebook out of his pocket and flipped it to the right page, holding that page out to face her.
"Can you make sense of my writing or do you want me to read it out?"
no subject
She peered at the notebook, and grunted. "Better than Sera's chicken-scratch."
Alley... you can't hold a quill, shush.
"That second one looks most likely." And most likely to not be a total nightmare for her to dig out of her cash on hand, the estimate being a number she can fill with fewer bills with larger denominations. With a final pat to Jethro's exposed nose-bone, the Inquisitor dug into her sash for the cash she had on her, struggling a bit to pull out the right amount, plus the agreed-on 'courier fee'.
Her fingers, tipped in sharp metal as they were, still didn't... move quite right. It couldn't all be the gauntlet. Nor the visible tremors, as she tried to manipulate something as small as a few small pieces of paper with rough success.
Alleyana rather missed coinage. Gold, silver, and copper, was a lot easier to just pluck at with the tips of her gauntlets without having to use too much of that fine motor control that was missing.
But, she got it done, tucked the rest away, and held out the amount.
There was a chance, of course, that the human was simply going to run off with all of the money.
And that was fine, if he was foolish enough to burn bridges while wanting to play freelancer. Not that she was likely to have much in the way of 'jobs' for him anyway.
no subject
"I can do that," Peter told her with an easy smile, proceeding to count the money out himself. "Trust but verify," he explained with a brief shrug, putting his amount aside in one pocket, and the payment in another. It would make it easier once he was there. "I'll make sure I get you some kind of receipt. Might just send a picture, that cool?"
no subject
"A picture's fine, yeah," the Inquisitor absently reached up to pat Jethro's nose again, and the bog mummy nibbled very slightly on the gauntlet of her hand. Wasn't like he was going to get cut, now was it?
"I just want to be able to exercise this lunatic properly sooner rather than later. Should keep down on the charging incidents, too."
no subject
It was still kind of hard to look away from, but hey, he was getting used to it.
"Oh. Almost forgot, you needed some kind of armor after for Trigger here, right? Kept an eye and an ear out, and it sounds like Fawn's the best at making that stuff. Didn't ask about horses, but it could be a place to start - and you look pretty big on armor yourself." He had said he'd look and he had. She was being generous and it didn't hurt to try to be helpful. Most of the time.
no subject
no subject
"No clue," he admitted. "But I'm gonna go make your order. Shoot you that receipt later."
no subject
She does pretty good in a fire.
Alleyana grunts a confirmation at that, and focuses on shoving Jethro off with her bar-arm when the undead horse starts trying to 'sniff' at pockets she doesn't even have. Look, buddy, you don't even eat, treats or otherwise, why would she be carrying anything--
"He's supposedly possessed by a spirit of Freedom. Means lots of running. And being a prat, apparently."
But she's not going to keep the human waiting, that's just a comment for the sake of it.

He was a decent whistler - no Yondu, sure, but hey, he'd learned what he could. Mostly, he had started out figuring that if he could get control of Yondu's arrow, he could... Go home, at the time. Take over? Something. He had practiced in pretty near secret, though it turned out Yondu had known and found the whole thing hilarious.
Yeah, sure, now he knew that pink would-be mohawk wasn't part of him, but was part of the arrow's control. It'd seemed like a good idea at the time.
But that was a long time ago, and right now he was just going to make his way to his destination before they closed with any luck so he could get that order in.
