[ Viewers are treated to the sight of Eleanor Guthrie looking very frazzled, her dress and hair a mess from her own run-in with Fayren's wildlife, her facial expression just short of thunderous. She's furious, utterly furious, but being angry doesn't bring you more patrons.

So what people get to see is a very sharp smile. ]
People of Fayren, I'm sure you've all had your own encounters with our wildlife already. Now you could do as our valiant Guardian has said and stay at home, alone and miserable waiting for the danger to pass.

Or you could come the Dead Men's Port right there in the harbor and wait it out with the best rum in town and meat fresh from the hunt. Until danger has passed, drinks and food are both half price. If you play music or tell stories to amuse our guests, drinks will be free.

Let's all make the best of our circumstances!

[Ey, is the voice of that weird person who asked about who could pick locks right upon a rival. Scott’s using video this time, so you can see that he’s also rather weird looking teen. He’s wearing a visor and a blue and black uniform that leaves little to the imagination.]

I wanted to thank all the people who offered to help me when I first arrived, I really appreciated it. My name is Scott summers, nice to meet you properly.

I’m afraid I have yet another request, is anybody a fashion assistant? I need new clothes. [As if that weren’t obvious. It occur to Scott a second later that this sounds as if he doesn’t know how to dress himself. Which is technically true.]

Due to my eye condition, I’m color blind. I know the different colors and their names but I can't see them. I need help so I don't clash or make a color pairing mistake.

To those who know the Doctor--and particularly this one--it's probably no surprise he's already on the move by the time he actually tries talking to someone on that phone, obviously wandering/exploring the city, by the way the background moves behind him.

"Hello, lovely holographic welcome wagon you've got, very informative, except not actually, leaves a few important questions unanswered, well, all of the important ones, really, in particular, it says 'kidnapped,' well, it happens I don't generally kidnap that easily, raises some questions, that. All the obvious ones, and, which of you know something more about it?"

He raises his eyebrows (such as they are) at the camera as though prompting anyone watching to go ahead and not be shy, smiling harmlessly. Either someone would answer with something helpful, or no one would, which would be informative, in itself; the automated gas defense that a sonic scan had revealed in the holoprojector had dissuaded him from trying to hack it, but had also raised his suspicions just a bit.

"Don't hesitate to give me a ring, might just be I can help, sort of a thing I do."

He smiles a little more at that, and clicks off.

Meanwhile, of course, anyone who happens to be in the streets of Genessia might have a chance to stumble across the fellow in the Victorian coat and bow tie, looking around like he's expecting to find... something, possibly many somethings, seemingly walking aimlessly but at quite a brisk pace. He very might well approach, though, if he spots something interestingly out-of-place or suggesting access to useful information or okay let's be honest just anything strange or interesting at all might grab his attention, at least for a moment...

[It was in the evening hours when the video comes on, Anastasia was wearing her favorite Sylveon-themed nightgown, complete with a Sylveon ear hood up on her head. An actual Sylveon can be seen in the background, sleeping on its back on the girl's bed.]

I have a question about the Holodeck'd. Is it possible to use it to play hypothetical scenarios from your own home world? Like, see what happens if you had done something differently?

Or perhaps see what would happen if one were to confront a coming challenge as one is now?

[It says a lot about Scott’s life that when he wakes up in a metal coffin in a different world than his own, it’s not even in the top ten of weirdest things to happen to him this month. He still has around his neck the power dampening collar Emma put on him after the kidnapping and Scott takes a moment to wonder if he blacked out because of her assault on his mind before he notices the white box and its contents. He then checks the information available and listens to Weiss's hologram a few times to make sure he gets all the info. So, he's in the wrong universe again. Must be Tuesday, carry on.

Shaking those thoughts of his mind, Scott claws at the collar but there's no getting rid of it without the code to unlock it. The beams of concussive force of his eyes might be a pain in the ass on occasion but he doesn’t like being this vulnerable in a strange place. When the audio transmission starts, the voice is polite and calm, obviously belonging to a young male.

There are a lot of things he wants to ask - If there are mutants in the cities, if anybody has seen his team, if totalitarian regimes are the norm here as well...but what he ends saying is:]

Hello, good day. Is anybody around here good at picking locks?

[Because he is an idiot.

After the question, there's a silence while Scott cringes at his own words. He tries to come up with an explanation for his request that doesn't make him sound like a criminal.]

I'm...in the middle of a complicated predicament, so I'd appreciate a little help.

[Yes, very good. That doesn't sound suspicious at all. Nailed it, Scott.]
*There's a beautiful blonde on the screen, her eyes bright and a hand pressed to her chest*

Good afternoon, everyone!

*At the sound of such a lovely female voice, Jack falls into a small outburst of giggles*

What a thing it is, to have skin and flesh, a heart with a pulse!

*That hand presses a little harder on the breast*

I can hear it! I can feel it!

*Excuse her while those giggles start up again*

[Action - Fayren, later Genessia]

There is a lovely young blonde woman, running and twirling, revelling in the very excitement of being alive. She claps her hands and skips around town, every so often stopping to take gulps of air.

This is so fun that later on, Eleanor can be found in Genessia, seeking a place to dance the night away and take part in all sorts of the joys of being alive!

Sent from the phone of Jack Skellington [personal profile] takeoffmyhead

Hypothetically speaking: Say some magical accident had put you into the body of a skeleton. What would you do?

[ She is actually asking for step 3. Step 1 had been to panic. Step 2 to blame the (now former) skeleton. ]

[After last night's little robbery, Karla felt like making a broadcast. Now, more than ever, she was glad to finally have help. New deputies, whom she still has yet to meet personally. She addressed her audience, while disappointed at the outcome from last night, she had to remain confident that she could do better, with or without help.]

...If anyone plans to go to a bank for any reason...be careful. The bank in Genessia City was robbed last night.

The good news is, David Haller, the City Guardian, has hired some new deputies to assist in protecting the city. So I would like to say welcome to my new fellow deputies. I hope we can work well together to make Genessia City a better and safer place.

[She'll end the feed there. As a deputy, she's kind of learned to be careful about how much information to share.]

[ After relocating from the bay and listening to the message the young girl in the hologram had given, Hiro hadn't wasted too much time thinking about things before deciding to test out ways to use the device he'd found at his side. Everything was still kind of confusing, but at least the technology was cool! It was probably going to be a really important thing to have.

Note to self: don't lose item or delete from inventory.

It took only a few minutes to figure out the basics of the network posting system. A lot of other people seemed to be introducing themselves, so maybe that meant he should too? It was a first step, anyway. ]

[It had taken dear William quite a bit to figure out how to actually work the communicator. Attempting to decipher words that he had never heard of was quite the task but eventually, with a bit of poking about, he managed to turn on the video function.

He blinks a bit and taps the screen, chewing the inside of his lip before finally speaking.]

My name is Will Turner...I suppose all of you have awakened in the same manner that I did, so I'll not articulate that surprise.

I do wish to know where I may find some accommodations beyond those assigned to me.

[Work would come later, he knew. He was a master blacksmith and now had skills for seafaring and repairing ships. There had to be something he could possibly do.]

 What's this?

*There's only another second before Jack figures out the video function, and there he appears on screen - the most pleasant skellington you've ever seen. Or, yes, just a skellington man, who is seemingly quite animated*

Ah hello, people of Genessia Town! What a charming place this is, and what a pleasant introduction! The technology here is really quite something, isn't it? If only I had the time to examine it all! I would very much be interested in speaking with someone who can explain all these clever...mechanisms.

[Action - Various Places in Genessia]

Jack has never been to a place like this, has never been surrounded by so many things he doesn't understand. Not since his visit to Christmas Town. He can be found in various shops or cafes, picking things up in wonder, or else pressing himself against windows to peer into homes, offices, any kind of building, all with bright curiosity on his face.
17 July 2017 @ 08:08 pm
[A click. There's darkness, and shuffling, the sound of water being splashed around, and a very soft, very gentle curse.

Then a few seconds of silence... before the screen blasts white. It takes a second for the phone to adjust to the light itself, and when it does, blue skies and an upside down Genessia city are broadcast for a decent minute, before the screen is finally angled up at the holder.

A young man, dressed as if he'd tumbled out of some dark Victorian based funeral parlor, white as a sheet thanks to his own panic and confusion.

... It must still be a dream...

[Apparently, he's not entirely aware of what he's looking at or what the hell its doing, because in short order that phone is flipped over to get a good look at some expensive looking boots as he decides to just... take this all one goddamn step at a time and deduce what the ever loving fuck this thing is.]

[David starts up the video feed and he looks much better than he did the last time he started it.]

So a belated congratulations to all current Guardians. I’m positive you will all do or continue to do a good job.

[To the next order of business.]

So like many of the other Guardians, I’m putting a call out for anyone interested in being a Deputy Guardian. Your job essentially would boil down to helping to protect Genessia City. For a while now I’ve only had Karla as a Deputy, but I think it is time to fix that. I don’t have any hard requirements for anyone interested in joining, there are many different ways that a person can help out with protecting the city. There are some possible changes that I’m considering for the future and having a full team could help with that.

If you would like to converse over the potential job, we can do so over this device. Otherwise, you can meet me in the Guardian’s Office in Genessia City [Address to the office is here] My door is always open to anyone, so don’t be afraid to drop by.

On a different note, I am thinking about opening up an MMORPG style branch of Holodeck’d. Granted, there is no Online aspect of it, so I guess it’d just be an MMRPG. You’d be your character and be able to adopt the look of your character model, use your own physical movements to engage in combat, ect. I suppose this is an interest check for that as well.

video, noon

[ For the second time Eleanor Guthrie’s face shows up on the network, looking a lot healthier than two weeks ago. Yet she is looking ruffled for a different reason. Her braid is a little messy, a smear of grime on her cheek.

You can see her standing in a run-down inn, only a few patrons sitting at the bar so early in the day. There’s a stuffed monkey sitting on the counter, it wears a tiny pirate hat. ]

If you're looking for a strong drink or a hearty meal in Fayren, drop by the Drunken Monkey tonight! We've been hard at work cleaning up after that spirit mess, and it's as good as new now! We have vacant rooms, too, if you'd rather not stagger home, or would like a livelier home than most. Starting today, we'll be serving rum along with ale and mead as the specialties of the house.

action, in the evening

[ When Eleanor called The Drunken Monkey as good as new she had been very generous, for the inn has only been restored to the ramshackle state it'd been in before the attacks. Manager Eleanor may be, but the owner wasn't going to pay for full renovations.

Yet it's a lively place, crowded and filled with boisterous laughter and the sounds of playful scuffles here and there, while barmaids weave skillfully through the crowd serving huge tankards of ale and bowls of savory stew. A trio of musicians takes to the raised stage every now and then, playing songs about valiant princes and fearsome dragons.

Eleanor Guthrie can be found behind the bar or waiting tables, but more often directing the other staff, or every now and then deep in conversation with one of the more fearsome-looking patrons.]

[John almost expected restraints when he woke up; Strange place, strange bed, but there was nothing keeping him there save for the care package on his chest. Had he still been with the CIA he would assume the whole thing was some kind of test. He wasn't though, and this... this was not anything like Harold's style.

For one thing, John couldn't help thinking idly, he would have had a hard time getting him into that....coccoon. For another, nothing about how tired he felt, how out of sorts felt right to him. It screamed 'drugging', but he couldn't figure what or when.

At the thought of Harold, his hands had gone to his phone - no connection, no service. Not an especially good sign.

He skimmed through the paperwork quickly, and was able to at least determine he wasn't in some kind of prison. Not a traditional one, in any case. All the same, he had his gun drawn all the way through to the welcome center and more traditional light of day.

By the time he started the video he had heard what the hologram - and weren't they fancy here with that - had to say while browsing through the brochures, and spent a little time on a bench nearby. People-watching, yes, but also looking through the recent posts on the network. Judging from what he saw introductions were commonplace, mostly video, with some small exceptions.

A simple question, text, caught his eye and the sight of the name listed brought him conflicting emotions. At the very least the fact that Harold was there meant that there as a lot less chance of him managing to get himself into trouble on his own. It also meant, if he could believe everything he had seen, that they were both trapped.

It's in the process of this research that he finds the name listed for him - John Reese. Someone, obviously, was good at their job. It wouldn't do though, 'Reese' wasn't the name on the ID card in his wallet. He changes the display to ' John Rooney' instead, with only a little trouble.]

[The video opens on an unassuming man in a suit. A little older, if the start of gray in his hair is any indication, his gaze a little concerned. Perhaps worried - but that shouldn't be unusual, should it?

Between the fingertip over a portion of the camera, the sun behind him causing glare, and the slightly askew angle it's hard to get a full idea of his face. The camera shakes, just a hair.]

Hi. [There's a smile, small, that almost definitely appears to be from nerves.]

My name is John. Rooney, that is. John Rooney. I have to admit, I just woke up here and I'm a little out of my depths.

I did - [John seems to rush to add.] read through everything. It just...sounds like some kind of a joke.

[He shakes his head, like part of him knows it isn't but he isn't in any rush to accept that.]

Sorry if I'm bothering anyone. I saw a lot of other people doing things like this and, well... I think I could use someone to talk to.

[John turned the camera off while he waited for a reply, expression turning more controlled as he set up a private message. His hands weren't shaking any more.]

[Private Message to: Harold Wren]
You okay?

[David starts up the video feed and stacks of paper can be seen beside him as he's sitting in the Guardian's Office. He’s been pulling all-nighters for the last few weeks, but he’s finally reached the mountain top of paperwork. Though a Guardians work is never really done.]

With everything that has happened, I’ve yet to have a chance to say this. But thank you to everyone that helped not only defend Genessia City, but every other city during the breach. Even if you only helped people get to the safe houses, I still want to extend my gratitude to you and I hope all of you got through it okay.

All things considered, just like last time, we’ve learned more about this place because of this situation. Though, ideally we could discover more about this place without it taking some massive event for more information to be discovered.

A small word of warning too. Given how many of the creatures from outside made their way inside, some could possibly still linger around. I plan to make some rounds through the cities for the next couple of weeks to check, if anyone wants to join, they are more than welcomed to. If anyone happens to spot any while they happen to be out, please report it.
