Bounty Hunting: Murder At Hands
WHO: Spider-Woman, Yang Xiao Long
WHAT: The Murder at Hands killer is on the loose, so it's time for some dangerous fisticuffs action. But who is this mysterious and snarky stranger who shows up to help????Don't check the tags, you'll spoil it!
WHEN: October 9th, 2017 (Backdated)
WHERE: Genessia City
The thing about uncommon or unique weapons, such as a bladed glove, was that it was much easier to track down someone who was using such a thing as opposed to a knife or a gun. So when Yang caught wind of this bounty, as someone who made her own fists a weapon on a nearly daily basis, she jumped on it and began investigating nearby weapon and pawn shops. There weren't many, not in Genessia City, so there wasn't much legwork to be done.
Sure enough, someone had commissioned a gauntlet to be fitted with razor sharp blades on it. The man who'd designed the weapon apologized deeply, for he hadn't known what it would be used for.
...But Yang was not so forgiving when he gave the description of the buyer as a mysterious figure in black with a frayed shawl and a hockey mask. Really? He had no idea that a bladed glove in the hands of someone like that would be used for nefarious reasons? She suggested, without a smile, that he be a little more careful about giving weapons to people who were such obvious psychopaths.
So she had a description of the killer, at least. Someone like that wouldn't be too hard to spot, it was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. She couldn't pose as bait for this bounty as the only thing the victims had in common was "lives in a house" and Yang was certain Weiss would not approve of Yang going toe to toe with a serial killer in the house she had so kindly rented to her.
Yang took to a clock tower in the park where she could get a better look at the residential areas from above. It wasn't perfect, for she couldn't see all the streets where the trees were particularly thick. But, as it turned out, the killer's trademark made him easy to pick out on a rainy October night: he was surrounded by a soft cloud of perpetual mist as he ghosted between two houses, moving toward someone's backyard.
"Mist, seriously? I guess I shouldn't have expected you to be subtle," Yang said, easing her legs out onto the ledge of the clock tower, then sliding down the column until she was far enough down to leap in a grand, graceful arc with the help of a double blast from her gauntlets.
Yang tucked and rolled as she hit the streets, coming up running as she pulled her fists back, pumping out the two empty cartridges to get the next ones in the chamber. No time to waste, if this guy was gunning for another family, then she was throwing subtlety right out the window...
...and jumping through the window of the house he'd just invaded with a loud "YAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

...and jumping through the window of the house he'd just invaded with a loud "YAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

Shortly after Yang broke through that window, there was another crash through a sliding glass patio door. One, two, three break and enters all on in the same house at the same time? Hopefully the home owner was insured.
Despite the loud crash, Spider-Woman ducked down low after she realized no one was in the room with her right at this second. Choosing to skulk around the corner and see if she could get a glimpse of the killer before she struck.

But then there was a second crash.
Yang's head snapped instinctively toward the unexpected sound, frowning at the sight of shattered glass. Wait, were there two of these guys working together?
It was only a second, if that, but once Hands realized Yang's attention was diverted, he snapped his arms out to either side of him, sending out a wave of thick, green smoke billowing out from his body. Puffs of sickly verdant fumes washed over Yang and she recoiled, suddenly seized with a coughing fit. Hands leaped for her.
The bladed gauntlet came down with a brutal swing, but slid off of her upraised gauntlet with a loud clang. Yang stumbled back, trying to keep her feet firmly underneath her as he pressed his assault, just long enough until he had a clear view of the window and leaped through it.
One bounty hunter was bad enough, but he wasn't going to risk sticking around for two that were hot on his trail.

She raised her hands and fired two web lines toward the smoke cloaked Yang. If she managed to ensnare her mistaken target she’d give a sharp tug toward her to pull her off balance.
CHICK FIGHT
She was definitely off balance.
And she was definitely getting mad about it.
She pivoted to dig her heel into the carpet, bracing herself as she gave the line that caught her a sharp tug. Whether it brought the assailant toward her or at least into view, she followed quickly with a twist of the waist and a shot from her left gauntlet.

She barely managed to twist herself in midair to avoid the burst of bullets that came her way. Then she thrust her legs out into a kick at whoever had pulled her in.
She was too far in stop when she saw who she was attacking through the smoke.
"Yan-Shit!" This wasn't going to end well.

The moment Gwen's feet touched the ground, Yang moved, jerking sharply to the side and coming in hot with a recoil-loaded punch at her flank. Her first priority was to drive this murderer's accomplice out of the house, and the best way to do that was to send her flying right back out the front window. Then she'd finally be out of this eye-stinging smoke too.
"You and your buddy are not getting away with his," Yang snarled. "Hands up and surrender!"
no subject
She landed rough on the ground and rolled a couple more feet toward the side walk before she actually came to a stop.
"Ow... Jeez... fuck..."
Her hand clenched her ribs in pain. They weren't broken but jeez was she glad she was super powered right about now.
"Wha-?" She was pretty sure she could see two Yang's at the moment and that probably wasn't a good sign for her head. She did however manage to catch what the blonde powerhouse was saying.
"I think we got the wrong person, both of us. I'm not working with anyone."
no subject
Yang's shoulders rounded with rising frustration as she raised her fists, eyeing Spider-Woman with blatant distrust.
"Why should I believe someone with a mask who just attacked me? Can you prove you're not on the same side?"
Damn, that guy was getting away...!
no subject
Her eyes over in the direction that the killer was heading in.
"Not right this second, no. Best I can do is help you catch him, I'll lead the way?"
She doesn't want to try getting up and risk invoking Yang's wrath right this second.
no subject
Yang stamped her foot forward, a bright burst of flames blazing from her blonde hair that faded quickly. Just one quick pulse to burn off her frustration. There were too many things she didn't know, but the one thing she did know was the murderer's weapon of choice, and that meant Hands had to go down. Number one priority right there.
"All right. Temp truce. You help me take him down, you're on my good side, but any funny business and I'm laying you out!"
She wished she had something that could launch her ahead to make up for lost time, but all she could do from this height was run and hope it would be enough.
...And hope she was going the right way, since she only saw the vague direction where the culprit had fled.
no subject
Still she couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief as the team up was confirmed. She pulled herself up to feet and joined in the chase.
"No funny business? Oh come on, how am I supposed to launch my stand up career if you wont let me tell a joke?" Now that she's caught her breath she doesn't have too much trouble keeping up with Yang.
"We might need to get some height to figure out which way this guy has gone. I can give you a boost if you want?"
no subject
That, and the quip wasn't all that great. Try puns next time, scrub.
At least this other woman wasn't the type to stand around chatting any longer than necessary. She was slimmer than Yang, but able to match her speed and long legs just fine. Yang herself wasn't too sure what to make of the offer. She hesitated, once again finding herself unsure if she should trust this 'boost' to help or hinder her.
But what did she have to lose at this point? The creep was getting away and they were in sore need of any advantage they could get.
"All right. Do it."
Whatever it was...

"Get ready for this!" She brought a hand forward and shot a web out at one of the buildings nearby. She took a hold of Yang's wrist and got ready to jump into a swing. Not only was this masked vigilante fast and fairly small, but she didn't seem to have too much trouble lifting Yang up along with her.
At the height of her swing she pulled her arm back before thrusting Yang forward up onto a roof.
no subject
She hit the roof running with only a minor stumble, one she was prepared to turn into a roll if she couldn't regain her feet.
So she was right to trust the other person. That could have been an easy moment to take Yang out by throwing her into a building or dropping her into a river. That was a big weight off of her shoulders.
She planted her foot on the edge of the roof and shot her gauntlets for extra height as she leaped onto the next building, charging forward with a furious focus.
--There! To the left, a small tendril of greenish smoke was curling out of the mouth of an alleyway. Yang waved her hand to catch Spider-Woman's attention and pointed at the alley, then at Spider-Woman, and made a little circle with her finger. Surround and capture?
no subject
She didn't have much trouble keeping up with Yang as she traveled from building to building, though Yang had the height advantage so she was trusting her to spot the killer. Her faith paid off when she caught sight of that wave and gesture.
She gave a quick nod before firing off another webline and swinging into the alley. From there she crawled along the wall toward the other side. She'd let Yang make the first move then hopefully take their target by surprise.
no subject
And that was the primary reason why Yang was trying to avoid their use for now. If she needed the extra speed boost she'd use the recoil, but she trusted this other person to keep the culprit from exiting the alley. She leaped off of the roof, using the wall of the building next to her to slow her fall and kick off until she hit the ground with a tuck and roll. The alley itself was shrouded in shadows. Not Yang's favorite conditions, but unless the guy had some sort of altered vision that let him see in the dark, he was in the same boat as Yang. She'd take her chances.
Hands, meanwhile, glanced down the end of the alley and began sidling toward it. But a look over his shoulder showed that Yang was zeroing in on him, eyes narrowed, fists clenched. Gas hissed from his palm to fill the alley again, slowly collecting and pooling to obscure him from view.
But it was an alley. There weren't that many places for him to go, and unless he thought he could sneak past Yang, she was pretty sure she'd figure it out.
Digging her toe to uproot a garbage can, she spun and smashed her foot into the side, sending it flying into the thick smoke. She was rewarded with a bass grunt and a crash as it struck something up ahead. Her steps quickened. She had him now.
