Who: River Song, Captain Jack Harkness, Martha Jones, Sarah Jane Smith
What: Stealing the TARDIS and going adventuring.
When: Sunday 11/19
Where: Next stop everywhere.
Warnings: Probably flirting. It is River and Jack after all.
River Song had had enough of being denied her other mother. She had asked nicely and the Doctor had refused and she had accepted that for the three months that it had been. But now she was outed to the world as a weapon, her father had disappeared to when River wasn't going to be able to see him again, and she hated being in one time and place just as much as her husbands did, if not more. So, River waited until the Doctor and Rose weren't going to be at the TARDIS, and she used her key to break in. Was it breaking in when one had a key? Honestly, it didn't matter because River had stolen the TARDIS (and she had allowed herself to be stolen) more times than River herself could count.
So, when she entered into the coral console room, River just smiled beatifically at feeling the warm rush of welcome that she always did. "Hello mother." The words were spoken aloud, and River traced her long fingers across the metal that led to the actual console, and stroked her in much the same way that the Doctor did. "Yes, I know. I've missed you too." And River meant it; she always meant it. When she was this close to the TARDIS but denied it, it was almost like missing a piece of herself. The TARDIS had told her when she was just starting out as River that she was the child of the TARDIS, a missing piece that the box would be denied now that Gallifrey was time locked somewhere else.
Despite the consoles that River had used before being different there wasn't a TARDIS that River couldn't fly, especially not with the TARDIS herself humming directions in River's ears. So she set the location setting to random, and then she pulled back the lever. "Alright, mum, where shall we go today?"

Then there was brass and she would chuckle and pat the nearest wall before going down the next bit of hallway. A part that was familiar. She grinned and started towards the wardrobe when the familiar tilt happened.
"Oh no, not again. Wait!" She started towards the console room, skidding to a stop when she saw someone slightly unfamiliar at the controls, "Oh I thought. Well clearly you're not him but I thought it was empty."

"I'm Professor River Song. I didn't get a chance to meet you on the TARDIS when the Doctor scooped us all up, but I've heard an awful lot about you. Followed your career even." Of course, River meant the career that she would have once the other woman became a reporter and of course took on saving the world full time as well. Someone needed to look after Earth, and not that Jack didn't do a bang up job of it, but sometimes there were other things that needed doing.
"And you needn't worry, I promise I can fly her better than he can. I've had a much better teacher." Which of course was the TARDIS herself, but that wasn't something that River was going to explain because spoilers.

As for her career, well, there wasn't much of one just yet. But she does smile at the mention of flying better, "I'm fairly sure any one can fly better than he can. You ever drive in a car with him? Just as bad you know." Now that the movements are more stable, she crosses next to River and holds out her hand, "Sarah Jane Smith, it's good to meet you, Professor."

He leans over the console sleeves rolled up as he does his best to read the stream of information on the monitor. "Please tell me we are about to go break some hearts. I have been aching to break some hearts."

She took Sarah Jane's hand with a smile, and gave it a good shake. "Please, just call me River. Everyone else does. Unless of course you decide to take one of my classes at the university." Then there's a broader grin. "They may not be as fun as his, but they're still quite good nonetheless. I've never had any complaints." Which was true, because normally when she decided to teach, people filled up her classes and she was a bit of a star. It was harder when the Doctor was around, however. Especially when he normally lectured on basically whatever the hell he wants.

"Where do you think we could find the most hearts to break, dear?" Because clearly, they were setting a course for there, without any if, ands or buts about it.
Well, maybe a few butts.

"Well if it is adventures you want I could think of a few planets," Jack muses thoughtfully, "depends on how adventurous you want to get though." He scans the monitor again. "so adventure, rebellion and maybe liberating artifacts. Where would you like to start?"
no subject
"You work at the university then? Maybe I will call you Professor here and there. But just for friends sake of course."

"You can call me whatever you like, darling." River stop flirting with your husbands companions.

"Sarah works just fine with me, and I'll go with River." She wrinkled her nose, "Professor makes me think grey hair and spectacles." While it isn't hesitating, she does dawdle a bit on asking. She's not sure what the rules are here (not that she followed them to the letter anyways) and didn't want to push anything but.
Oh, her curiosity won out as always, "So you've known him for a long time? More then me I'd think, but. Well, how did you meet him?" Innocent enough. She can only imagine the adventure someone like River would be on to meet him.

"Well, he's always the Doctor in at least one respect and that one tends to stick around a fair bit. Although whether or not it's my fault is entirely up to where you want to go all in on temporal physics, I suppose. Granted I'll probably take the credit for it anyway." River just grinned at Sarah for a moment with a knowing look and a hope that somehow this wasn't going to turn into a Rose Tyleresuqe situation. She didn't think that it would but then she had been quite wrong before so that was that.
"I've known him nearly all my life." It seems like a good place to start, and a safe one. "As for how I met him, well my parents are two of his best mates." There leaving at that because she didn't want to be the one who caused sandshoes to attempt to aspirin again.

"Maybe I'll just blame you both? Keep everything all nice and neat."
