I'm understanding your scenario as only one person can escape, provided the others stay and die to cover their retreat. So it's all a matter of choosing the messenger. It would be the person who knows most about the threat, our failures which led to our current defeat and will be most useful in the coming fights. As I have no powers, am likely to be dead or dying at a point in battle where even my most powered Deputy is on the brink of death and can only retreat at normal human speed, it's highly unlikely I would ever be the logical choice to be spared.
