[ For once, the Jedi sits somewhere inside. There are mechanical parts and tools scattered all over the table before him. Currently he seems to be working what looks like some sort of cybernetic hand... With three fingers.

But he has stopped working and really just looks thoughtful, barely even focusing on the camera. ]

So... The future... It's not set in stone, is it? It's always in motion and regardless what anyone says, the paths we take are still our own. And if we know we're headed for a future that is bad... That path also can still be changed, right?

[ You might say he's been bothered... By thoughts. ]

I would think that there would be better ways to accomplish that.

[That don't involve annoying her husband.]

Padmé... Even in my time we don't have any children.

[ Oh yes. That's a we. ]

If he's my son, then he would be yours as well. We've never even spoken about anything like that and it's... It'd be too risky, wouldn't it?

[She doesn't fail to note that we, although there is also something niggling in her mind at everything about it.]

A war would hardly be ideal to bring a child in to, but I know we have our duties.

[Still... Oh, she remembers talking generally about desiring a family, and how she had thought once she was done as queen it might have been something that she would have pursued.]

Can you tell though? Does the Force say anything? Is he a Jedi?

I... Didn't focus on that. He may be Force-sensitive, but that alone doesn't make one a Jedi. Many Force-sensitives never get trained due to... Reasons.

[ Being too old is only one of them.

He sighs. ]

Right now I'm really not sure what to make of all of this. But it irritates me.

[Her expression softens with his admission of frustration. It does nip away at her, all this strange information that is tossed their way. It can leave her mind reeling, if she lets it take over.]

Time, my love. We've time to figure it all out.

[Even if she knows that they can both be impatient people.]

...we do. At least for once.

[ For once they have time. Which has always been a rare good for them.

[She smiles, that calm and loving smile that reaches not only her lips but her eyes as well.]

Just remember that I am here, that you don't need to take everything on alone.

[ It's also that sort of absolutely disarming smile only Padmé has. The one that can soothe even Anakin's upset self and pull him back on solid ground.

He does return a small, honest smile to her. ]

I will. I promise.

[ And while he would love to embrace her right now, he currently simply isn't with her. So all he can do is nod once. ]

I'll be with you later, Padmé.

Try not to make too much of a mess in the mean time.

[That cheeky grin as her gaze shifts to the tools and the hand.]

And I'm not even going to ask where you got that arm.

It's not a mess when you're working, Padmé.

[ He waves that separated hand in front of the camera, but she's right. He'll be making a mess and have parts scattered all around soon enough. Whoops. ]

Ah. Of course. Silly me.

[Not fooling her, Ani.]

I will leave you with your not mess then and see you later, mess free.

[ He grins in response. ]

And I shall miss your presence until you do.

Mm, mechanical arm versus wife... I'll not vie for your attention, lest I be saddened by the result.

[That teasing smile.]

[ Oh, ouch, Padmé. His grin only widens. ]

Well, I'm pretty sure I married you and not Artoo.

[It earns a giggle.]

Only pretty sure?

Sometimes he does make me wonder if I hadn’t somehow married both of you, you know?

[ He gives her a playful wink with those words. ]

You should only be so lucky.

[Artoo will always be Padmé's favourite droid, after all.]

I know. I'm the luckiest to have you in my life.

[ And he will always take good care of his astromech son. ]

Ah! But I fear that I am the luckiest, to have you in my life.

Then we're both lucky, aren't we?

[ He won't try to challenge her. ]

It seems that we are indeed.

Always remember that, Anakin.

I will. Trust me, Padmé... I will.

[One last smile flashed at him before she goes to turn it off. Otherwise, they'll likely be there all day...]
