OPEN Action - The Bay - Morning

[This is probably not the first time someone's had something of a...loud and violent reaction to their awakening, though at least nobody is getting hurt as long as they stay out of the way, and even then all Ayla does is barrel though them while trying to make her escape. The fur clothed blonde clutches the box she awoke with as she scrambles out the door on three of all fours but comes to a sliding halt in front of the hologram.

She watches it curiously, crawling around it as she listens to the message, occasionally leaning in to sniff at the speaking figure. She listens to the explanation for a full rotation and a half before her attention drifts to the magazine rack, flipping through a few of the adverts before tossing them aside. Ultimately she does take one of the maps, tucking it into her clothes before attempting to scamper off again.]

OPEN Action - Genessia City - Garden Park - Afternoon

[By this point some rumors might have begun to circulate about the wild woman running around, climbing all over things and roughing up and/or running away from people trying to apprehend her. At the least, any violence has only been enough to aid her escape and nothing more. By afternoon the talk turns to an oddly dressed blonde woman running around in the park.

Case in point, at this moment Ayla is perched on the branch of a tree, looking down at the lone duck paddling around the pond in defiance of the winter weather. She licks her lips as she crouches, butt raised in the air with the furs she wears adding to the impression of a wild cat on the hunt. She's been here for hours now and it's time for lunch.]

[Even Naoki had heard the rumors. Didn't stop him from walking around the city, wanting to learn more about each area. But for right now, a break was in order.

He reclined on a nearby bench. Any snow seemed to melt away thanks to his presence, generating some much needed heat. Leaning his head back, and not worrying about his horn, he sighed a bit. Felt like he walked forever, but hey that was a good thing. Or at least a good chance to experience snow again.

But then he noticed something on the branches while leaned back. He blinked at the sight, not quite able to tell what it was.]

...what the hell are you?

[Whether the Doctor had heard the rumors or not really had only so much effect on his behavior, frankly. A blonde nutter running about sounded pretty tame, by his standards--and by Genessia's, frankly. He was really just in the park for a brisk stroll, getting rather less running in lately than he preferred and honestly getting pretty antsy without some activity.

He does notice that branch shaking, though. He pauses just a moment, reminded more than a little of someone else, but smiles to himself whimsically when he gets that glimpse of blond hair, casually strolling closer to the tree.]

You know, they've got fantastic chip shops 'round, not exactly a thrilling hunt, I admit, but only a little less than a duck, and a fair bit less messy. Newly arrived, I take it, don't suppose anyone's made introductions, have they? Might be easier to chat if you'd pop down here, promise I don't bite, well, not if I can help it.

[Ayla freezes in her ready position, glancing at the duck and then at the strange man talking to her. The duck doesn't seem disturbed by him just yet but it is paddling out of a safe jumping range.

But even if he didn't ruin the hunt, he still ruined the moment. She gives an annoyed huff and swings down out of the tree, landing in a crouch in front of him. The cavewoman looks up at him through her blonde curls appraisingly. He doesn't impress her much but there's still...something about him that leaves her curious.]

Mnnh. Look for friends. This not Guardia. Place called Genessia? Shiny woman say so. Where is? Where Crono, Lucca, Marle?

[Ayla glances at Naoki at his comment, close enough that she's able to hear him. This hesitation costs her the hunt though as the duck chooses that moment to fly away. She huffs in annoyance but it's just as well. A dive into that pond water in January wouldn't have been the best choice for her.

Her eyes turn back to Naoki and her brow furrows as she assess him now. The blonde rises to her feet, standing on the branch boldly and without fear. Her fist thumps on her chest and she shoots the young man a predatory grin.]

Me Ayla. Chief of Ioka Tribe. What you?

[He watches her carefully. That was a look he knew too well, one of hunger. He got up from his seat, returning her stare with a raised brow.]

Naoki Kashima, though I go by the Demi-Fiend as well. So...I take it you are hungry?

[Try to eat him, and he will not hesitate to strike. His hand closing into a fist told that story.]

[She sees the fist, her eyes flicking to it, but she doesn't make any other show of seeing him as threat or prey. Rather it's something else he mentioned that caught her interest. She drops into a crouch again but this time her stare is one of intent curiosity.]

Hungry yes, but 'demi-fiend'. You know Magus? Fiendlord here?

Magus? Never heard of that.

[Fiendlord? That was certainly new. Even with the likes of Dracula, such a name never popped up.]

If you are referring to those from your world, I doubt you'll meet all of them here. So far that Magus didn't show up.

[She finally drops down out of the tree and approaches Naoki, though she does so not quite walking and not quite crawling. More of a comfortable lope. The way she stands up fully once she's a few feet from him though shows she has no problem being upright.]

My world? What mean? Ayla travel other time. World...other star?

[She's heard Lucca discuss such things, other planets in the sky, and how they might harbor life. Is that what he meant?]

[Naoki relaxes a bit. Didn't look like a fight was going down. But the words and how she said it...]

Wait you did listen to that introduction in the tube right? [The clothes...wait a minute.] ...Are you a cavewoman?

[Garrus may not be Genessia's Guardian, but he happens to be passing through when he hears the rumors about some nut terrorizing the park. Probably some junkie. He'd say screw it and leave it the cops since it's such a minor thing, but the park isn't that far and this is Garrus, so he's decided to at least take a peek to make sure that it really is nothing to worry about.

When he spots the menace he stops in his tracks.

He's expecting some raving lunatic, not a... is that a cavewoman? He stares for a moment, trying to process - she's definitely the first of her kind that he's seen there, but if Genessia can take aliens from the future, why not humans from the past, right?

...Why is there never a normal day in this place?

He sighs, cursing his luck, before heading over and standing near the branch Ayla is perched on, crossing his arms and looking up at her. He has no idea what the hell she's doing, but clearly someone has to talk this lady out of the tree before she falls and breaks her neck.]

I'm guessing you're the one the calls have been about. I don't know what it's like where you're from, but people don't usually climb trees around here. You mind coming down?

[Please don't make him go up there. It won't be a pretty sight.]

[Ayla smirks and thumps her chest again.]

Ayla already say. Chief of Ioka Tribe. Live in huts, not caves.

[She knows what he meant, but she's being a smartass.]

Saw shiny lady outside of water cave where awaken. Listen. Understand. But Ayla trust self over words. Find truth.

[Her stomach chooses that moment to speak up.]

Mrgrrr. Also find food.

[Well close enough. Come to think of it, she did seem to match the rumors. No bounty on her so no reason for a fight either. The stomach noise did catch his ears.]

Tell ya what: I know how hard it is to listen on an empty stomach, so how about we go someplace to get some food, and I'll fill you in on a few things. You seem to be causing trouble for others already, and I would hate to have to hunt you down for a bounty.

[For as much as he wanted money, he would never attack the innocent. That and he was getting hungry too.]

[She struggles with her pride for a moment, but then nods.]

Mnhh. Eat food. Focus better. Shining lady mention local money. Friend Crono explain but own tribe trade for goods.

[She needs help. She doesn't want to ask for it.]

No want cause trouble. Just want find friends.

Oh!

[The Doctor raised his eyebrows as she hopped down, a bit amused as that crouching look she fixes him with--although his expression's sympathetic when she mentions those names.]

Ahh... no, sorry, 'fraid your friends don't sound familiar... but yes, Genessia's right, don't suppose you know a Leela by any chance, brunette, fondness for leather, bit fighty, well... a pretty big bit.

[It's really unlikely, but can't hurt to ask.]

Oh, and I'm the Doctor, don't think I caught your name.

[Ayla purses her lips in thought but then shakes in the negative to his own question.]

No. Sound like strong warrior though.

[At his introduction she rises to stand at her full height. Clearly her crouch is more of an affectation and not a physical need. She smiles and thumps her fist on her chest.]

Me Ayla. Chief of Ioka Tribe. Friend Lucca say from six five zero zero zero zero zero zero bee see.

[Ayla seems nonchalant as he starts to scold her, but when she spots him she goes tense. Even the furs she wears seem to poof up a bit.]

What...

[Her brow furrows and she drops down from the branch with an athletic spin around the backside of it. She lands in a crouch and crawls towards him, nose raised as she sniffs at the air.]

You...not Reptite. You Fiend? Know where Magus is? Crono?

[Seventeen happened to be in the park later on, taking a break. Then he noticed the strange woman perked up on a tree in a strange outfit, or was it she was half cat? It was hard to decide.]

You can buy food to go too.

[Honestly, why was he helping again?]

...well, didn't think so, but...

[He smiles to himself whimsically at that number as though he's skeptical but not about to criticize.]

Really... curious where she got that number from, this friend of yours, 'though, well, not here to ask, obviously. Would have guessed a few less zeros, at a glance, myself, 'course, different worlds, can't be sure. I'm to understand your friends are time-travelers, then?

[Different worlds, different timelines, and all that other fun stuff.

Ayla gives a single emphatic nod to his question.]

Mmmm! Ayla Time Travel too. We all fight enemy together. Fight Reptites. Fight Magus. Stop Lavos from destroy world.

[Ayla doesn't move, but as the duck quickly moves out of range in response to her own presence she levels a glare at him.]

Stupid. Need have something to trade for food. Only have strange leaves and shiny slab. Maybe trade necklace?

[She frowns and pulls the thing out of her furs, holding it up as she looks at the way it glints in the light.]

Oh, stopped the world being destroyed, lovely, rather fond of that sort of thing, myself, 'fraid I'm not familiar with a Lavos, though, what's that, then?

Ah no, no stop yet. But soon. Ayla and friends gathering weapons. Helping others. Prepare for final fight.

[She frowns and taps her chin, trying to figure best how to describe their goal of a foe.]

Great Fire from Sky. Came down in Ayla time. Destroy Reptite castle. Ayla friends say dig underground and sleep. Rise in future with spikes and fire and destroy world. Also meet magic lady who say use power for self. Try kill us all.

[The Doctor raises his eyebrows and smiles to himself, seeming pleased, especially at the big about them traveling and helping people--enough that he grins and points at her like she's solved a puzzle cleverly... although he leans in a little, eyes narrowing analytically as she starts answering the question.]

...ahh, alien creature, then, guessing your "Reptites" are something like the Silurians, int'resting, some sort of world parasite, then, the "magic," that's probably its energy field, maybe a waste product as it grows, orrr... like an enzyme.

[He rubs his hands together as he conjectures.]

Not easy to deal with, can't say I envy you that one.

[The Doctor pauses just a tick, and smiles a little.]

......well. ...a bit, I s'pose, it does sound int'resting.

[Ayla please.]

No, no trade necklace.

[17 was starting to talk like her for no reason.]

Those strange leaves is what people trade to get better stuff.

[Well, she moves better than he thought she would. That was an impressive landing. Her actions on the ground though... He leans away from her as she starts sniffing around him.]

No, I'm not. I'm - Would you mind not doing that? [It's unsettling.] I'm a turian. Not... whatever you said. And I don't know a Magus or a Chrono. [He pauses, crossing his arms. Her strange actions aside, it sounds like someone has no idea what's going on.] You must be new here. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's a good chance that you're the only one from your world that was taken.

[She. She does know that she was taken from her planet, right?]

[This man talks funny. He reminds her a bit of Lucca but he's also using words she never did. Her words tended more to do with machines or Robo. But the cavewoman nods along dutifully. Even if the words don't mean much to her, they clearly do to him.]

Mmmm. Lavos have big shell. Many spikes. Shoot spikes at us when we try fight it. Also fire from eye.

[She gets a cold and distant look in her eyes for a moment, a painful memory perhaps.]

If get inside shell, should be softer. Easier punch.

Ah, Ayla see. What necklace for?

[She peers at it again.]

Friend Crono use Friend Marle necklace to time travel, open doors, boxes.

[She just gives Garrus a look, much like a cat would when told not to do something. But she stops and backs up to give him his space. However, his words don't seem to calm her down any. If anything she starts to arch, again like a cat, now ready to fight.]

Who take? Ayla fight. Go home. Need get back to help save world.

[She growls and looks around, ready to point her aggression somewhere, but what she mutters next might answer Garrus' own question.]

Ayla thought in other time....

It's works something like that. It opens doors to other cities so its important.

[Seventeen even shares his too which was tucked under his shirt.]

But if you want to hunt, that's all up to you.

Not something I can say I've run into before, always a refreshing feeling, that, nice to know there's still more to learn.

[The Doctor smiles to himself quirkily--although just a bit concerned at that look she gets, but it's quickly replaced by something more sentimental after she speaks again.]

...ohh, you'd have got along famously... well, anyway, I s'pose you've already been told you probably haven't got to worry about missing out on that mission of yours, here?

['Other time?' Well, that's new. He's certainly never met a cavewoman that understands time travel.

Or a cavewoman at all, really, but details.]

There's no one to fight right now. We're working on it, but whoever took us has done a good job of keeping their nose to the ground. Good news is your world is effectively paused for you while you're here, so if and when we all get off this rock you'll be right back when and where you left.

[He pauses. Normally he probably wouldn't info dump this next bit to someone from prehistoric times, but she seems to know something about time travel, so... screw it.]

That being said, someone else from your world might show up eventually and be from a different time, but supposedly the timeline continues as it's supposed to, meaning they're just from your past or future. If you want to find out what happens in your future we have a place called the Dream Docks for that.

[You know, he never realized just how weird this place was until he said it out loud. This is some tv plot right here.]

[Ayla frowns, crossing her arms. She's clearly not happy with the suggestion.]

Ayla know. Travel time. Go to year need to fight Lavos. Still worry. Want help friends finish hunt.

[Either she doesn't really know about the way the city plucks people up, or else to her it simply doesn't matter. The point seems effectively moot.]

(ooc: having watched some serials recently, I think Ayla would get along better with Ace than Leela)

[Ayla frows, crossing her arms. Some of that made sense just by lining up with things that Lucca talked about, but others didn't. The whole thing about pausing she wasn't sure about, but the freedom of their ability to time travel and pick up things as needed complicated her perception there.

But the last bit catches her attention.]

Dream Docks. You take. Ayla show Day of Lavos.

Ah, well, yeah, sorry, lots of wonderful things about it, time travel, but can't really say it gives you less to worry 'bout. Although, with any luck, some of your friends might just show up, here, as well.
