1st Rise of the Phoenix ஜ Video

[When he wakes up, he still believes he's in Nautilus. The last he remembers is going to sleep with Leanne like usual, did something happen? Another storm? Something worse? He can't remember anything else but there must have been something since not only he wakes up in a place he doesn't recognize but he is also wearing his armour.

It's not until he finds the hologram that he understands what has happened, and those sensible to Cosmo, ki or similar energies will most likely feel a huge burst of energy as Ikki's Cosmo rages. To his credit he doesn't damage anything in the area. But it takes everything he has to not do so. Kidnapped again, this time more blatantly and without made up excuses about there having been a call. It was bad the first time, but this time is even worse. Apparently he's not allowed to continue fighting to save Athena and Seiya, nor he's allowed to have a family and a "normal" life.

He makes his way out, with his Phoenix Cloth on and carrying its Pandora box on his back. He doesn't bother to try to use his Cosmo to reach anyone for he doubts that whoever is responsible of this would be so kind as to let him reunite with anyone he knows and cares about. It's not until he reaches the beach that a thought occurs to him which leads him to strip down his armour and shirt, so he can check his right shoulder and confirm that the tattoo that Ace made for him is still there. A red spade (from the cards) surrounded by two flaming wings, one blue, the other orange, and with what seems like a white crescent moon crossing over it, the only thing he has, aside from his memories, to remember his time in Nautilus. It brings some relief to his heart, but it does nothing to calm his temper, so he goes on to strech his joints and muscles, giving anyone watching the video a nice show without realizing it. It's not the coliseum he's used to, but the beach seems like a good enough place to do some improvised training.

It should help to release his anger.]

[WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK- The ONE time he doesn't actually expect an enemy to jump on him right after waking up in a strange place and, of course, it's the time someone jumps on him. That said, while he's caught by surprise, Ikki's not someone slow on reflexes, so he quickly wrestles back against the other, even when he realizes that the other isn't really attacking him but more like hugging and clinging.

For a man like Ikki that's still pretty much the same to an attack.]

What the hell!?! Put me down!!

[All the fighting against being picked up. Until the other talks about his tattoo and finally, finally Ikki pauses to look at the other, realizing belately that the other had been... Chirping in phoenix? It only really takes that and a glance at the man's chest to have Ikki's eyes widening in realization.]

... Marco the Phoenix?

[Ace's older brother. Ace's oldest brother. But wait, how does he know him? Ikki's sure he has never met the man in person, despite wanting to.]

[OH NO HE DOESN'T REMEMBER--]

[But he knows him.]

[Marco put him down and then just headtilts.]

Aye.

What do you remember, yoi? [In phoenix, of course.]

[Ikki's frown is just one of pure confusion, he doesn't get it. He doesn't get why this man is here, nor why he knows him. Has he actually forgotten something? Did he arrive here before and forgot that? But it doesn't feel like his memories have been tampered with... At least, not recently. After Shaka and Pandora later on undid their own seals, Ikki had come to realize there were some similarities on how memories felt when there was a seal around them. But he couldn't feel anything like that now.

And even then... Why is this man here? Ikki woke up minutes ago and suddenly Marco is here, glomping him and asking him what he remembers. What he remembers? Ikki replies in phoenix unconsciously, mostly because that's how the other spoke first.]

I remember being in Nautilus with my wife and my brothers. And without you there, I had been talking with Ace about you and Thatch and your other brothers and your father before going to bed and-

[And he had gone to bed thinking how much he wished he could meet them all. Or at least Marco, because he was a phoenix as well and the idea just... Tugged at his soul more than he would want to admit. He had gone to sleep thinking that... In a world where will made things real.]

No...

Is that why I'm here?! I wanted to meet you, I tried to will it and Nautilus sent me here?! That's not what I wanted, you should have gone there with Ace!

[A small frown because Marco wouldn't stand him being distressed.]

[Marco gently leaned his forehead to Ikki's, and let the blue flames flow, trying to soothe the brother that didn't know him yet.]

It was me, I'm sorry, yoi. My own wife was kidnapped, and I pulled too hard. Too recklessly. Dohko Libra, the Tiger is here. Ace is here, but Ace never remembers anything, Thatch doesn't remember much, but some. Thatch is here! Thatch is alive!!! I learned how to pull the strings of fate and now...

[Meanwhile, somewhere deep in a forest, Dohko gave Seiya an assignment for his training. While his stay in Genessia has been a shy few days ago, up to his knowledge, it's only him and Dohko as genuine saints as they can sense each other's Cosmos even from miles away.

Of course, he was grumbling because Dohko gave Seiya an assignment, which is the same training he gave Shiryu. And that's using own one's cosmos and energy to reverse a waterfall. The point of the assignment? To give Seiya an enthusiastic exercise to get strong again. Still, punching water doesn't get much of anywhere. But he's still trying. Being the Pegasus, he doesn't give up. It was then he picked up a familiar cosmos, an energy that suddenly released. In contrast, thanks to Dohko's exercises, Seiya's cosmos is calmer and even out.

So watching the video, Ikki's smartphone gave off an alert.]

Hello? Ikki? Is that you?

[He has never met this man and yet... And yet it feels easy for his soul to calm as the blue flames flow soothing him, is it because he wanted to meet him so badly? Or is it because he's a phoenix as well? Something only another phoenix could do. Or maybe, as it seems to be from Marco's words, it's because they have met before? Ikki can't remember but the soul of a Saint remembers more than the own Saint, their souls carry on the memories and will of previous Saints, that's why Hades seemed to recognize Seiya despite never having met him. But there had never been a Phoenix Saint before, so Ikki thought there weren't any memories for his soul to carry.

But still...]

But... I willed it! I tried to will it! In Nautilus with a strong enough will you can make things real, you can... Bed reality, the universes themselves! And I wanted to do that! I tried to bend it all so that you and Thatch would be with Ace and I would be able to meet you! And to make the Gold Saints alive and having a chance to have an actual life outside of duty, if Dohko's here that proves it!

It was me who willed it, but I did it wrong and now we're here and I lost my wife.

[Probably a fair punishment for wanting more than he had gotten. For being greedy.]

Even if you did something... I was trying to do this same thing! So it's my fault as well.

[And Ace... Ace is here but he doesn't remember? Great. Just... The phoenix inside him rages even more than before. He hates being taken without warning, he hates not remembering what he should and he hates losing the family he had found in such a way.]

Forget my wife... I don't want to think about Leanne now.

[Not when he's so angry.]

You said your wife was kidnapped, do you know where she is? Or who could know? I'll help find her... But only if I can hurt whoever did it a lot.

[Because he needs to destroy something, or someone, right now.]

[The smartphone... He had forgot about it for a moment, but it seems that those things work like the communicators in Nautilus. With the same tendency to record and send messages without the user's complete knowledge.

He answers while wondering what has been sent and who would send a message. The familiar face that greets him is the last one he expected to see and Ikki pales at it. Seiya, looking fine and healthy... Maybe not as fine and healthy as he used to be but... Definitively better than the last time he saw him, sitting in that wheelchair, unresponsive to the world and with his Cosmo slowly dying.]

Seiya...

[He's here as well? For a moment he wonders if, somehow, that's the answer. That Seiya's soul, consciousness, is in some other world, in this world, and that's why he's unresponsible back home. But that's not how those worlds work, Ikki knows that much. And so the next moment he... Panics a little, because it has been years for him since he saw his half-brother and talked to him, and even then he never did it outside of their roles as Saints.]

... What is the last thing you remember?

[THERE'S A LOT OF EMOTIONS INTO THAT!!!!]

[At first Marco just grins wryly LIKE HELL.]

[That's his phoenix baby bro for you!!!!]

[BEST PHOENIX BRO. One day... they'd said they would travel together with Chandra... and maybe they did. In an alternate timeline. Maybe.]

[But Ikki's anger at himself for his wife cause Marco total heartache. He understood!!! OF COURSE HE DID!!! AFTER THE LAST WEEK FROM HELL?! THE LAST MONTH OF SELF-TORTURE?!]

[But Naesala??? Or... Marco shakes his head quickly, focus. Ikki being angry was dangerous! Even without being a phoenix, Marco remembered that clearly. And--]

Hey hey... calm down yoi. I said you were late. She, Grell, my mate, was protecting children and her orphanages. She's safe, just recovering. Our alternate kid is safe, training pokemon. Ace is antsy, Thatch is resting, and Namur is --

[He rubs his forehead in thought.]

I know her home, Serene's Forest. You and I almost went mad there. It reminded you so much of Athena's influence. Come on, come with me. Do you need to fight me to calm down? Or we can get drinks and food. We'll find Leanne again. She is the only soul in all the multiverse I have ever let see and calm my rage. And that was partly because of how she was able to handle yours too, yoi. I trust her. She is more durable than anyone knows, even herself.

[His body is weakened, but not his soul. The pegasus soul within him, recognizable for never giving up and for its light. While he should be in the wheelchair due to his weakened state, with exercise and training, both his body and cosmos stayed connected, and it should help with his recovery.

Seiya is perplexed at his reaction, not knowing the complexity of his journey through other worlds. His emotions is that he's happy to see him, as it felt like it has been a long time since he last seen his half-brother, the same guy he fought with side by side, and the same childhood sibling and best friend from the same orphanage.]

You mean before I arrived here? Having faced and fought Hades...and Athena promised me to take me home.

[Seiya left out the details of the battles that is still fresh on his mind as if it happened yesterday, not wanting him to worry. The war is over.]

Did you just arrive?

[Ikki's face reflects even more pain and anger as Marco repeats his wife's name, but he knows it's not the other's fault. It's his own, for being greedy.]

I swore I wouldn't abandon her like others had... I made a vow to protect her. And I broke it because I just couldn't wait until being stronger, until being better to try to bend the universes.

[It's all he can do to hope that she will be fine. That she will still be there, with Ace and Zoro and Sanji... And not back to her world, trapped in a sleep that may have no end.

He snarls in frustration as Marco reminds him about his previous words, so that's what he meant by saying that he was late.]

So even when I fuck up I still manage to do it wrong and be late?

[But... Marco knows Leanne as well? And they went to Serenes? Ikki frowns a bit and nods at that.]

In Nautilus she got seeds from Serenes and began to grow them, to bring over a small piece of her forest. It did remind me of Athena's influence, so I rarely stepped inside, always waited for her and watched over her from the border, so that no one would harm her or the plants.

[He sighs and closes his eyes, thinking about Leanne makes him both calm down and get more restless and angry, two complete opposites. He had forgot how much her presence, her existence, grounded him. And it's his fault, because he allowed it to happen, he shouldn't have allowed himself to become so dependent on her.]

What would fight you serve? It's not you who I want to burn, fighting would just distract me, and that's what they want, isn't it? Isn't that whay they always try? To distract us, to make us lower our guard and then they take whatever we allowed ourselves to care for, to hurt us.

[There's a sarcastic hurt sound that surprises Ikki himself, half a laugh, half a growl. Because it all just feels like a terrible joke.]

Of course that's the last you would remember...

[It would be too much to ask for Seiya to be from the future somehow, from a time where the fight is over and they are back in their right time and Seiya's recovering. Something that would indicate Ikki that there was hope in the crazy gamble that they were making. That would give Ikki some peace for his soul... And the multiverses don't want that.]

Yeah, I woke up in those pods not long ago. Already watched the hologram explanation and everything.

[After spending two years in another world, that is. But right now he's not sure if he should tell, or if he wants to tell. Hell, part of him isn't sure if Seiya's really there or if his mind is just playing a trick on him. He expands his Cosmo, reaching for Seiya's just to be sure, before actually daring to search for any other familiar energy.]

Are you the only one here? I don't suppose Shun and the others would be here, right? That would be too kind for those places.

Phoenix. You need to calm your anger down.

[The words were said very much in a master's tone of voice. As soon as he felt the anger in the Cosmo and just who the Cosmo belonged to, Dohko hurried to the beach. Gold Libra Cloth shining in the sun as the old Saint reveals himself.]

This place is not meant for the Phoenix's fire.

[Besides the one who sparkles.... A lot. What is up with those sparkles anyways?]

[The voice makes him pause for a moment, he turns his head to look at whoever the other is, the Cosmo is familiar but still, he needs to see to confirm it. A Gold Saint. Is this a joke? Punishment for wanting to bend the multiverse and pull the Gold Saints to Nautilus? Instead he ended pulling Libra and himself somewhere else.

Ikki clenches his teeth before he goes back to stretching as if the other hadn't said anything. As if he wasn't there.]

Then whoever was responsible for bringing me here should have thought twice before doing so.

[Except that it's not possible because Ikki's starting to think that it was his own fault after all. And that makes his anger grow even more, because he had been an idiot who dared to ask for more than he was allowed to have.]

[Yikes. Is this how his brothers feel trying to handle Marco?!]

Hey.

[Scrunches fingers through Ikki's hair, holding him close.]

No. She's not abandoned. I promised too, she won't be alone in her forest with no one to find her ever again. If I have to take you there myself alone, even at the risk of losing Grell, I will. But give it more than two heartbeats and time. You don't even know this place yet. Secure things here, and then we'll expand outwards, I promise, brother.

You are always late, but that doesn't mean you fucked up. [Marco's own face echoes that pain momentarily. He was late for Grell, late for Pops, late for Ace, late for Thatch. Was that being a phoenix or--]

What matters is you are here! NOW! And I do need you. I took this place for granted. I took Grell for granted. It's been so many years, so many worlds, and she's immortal, so I never had to do anything before. I've been slipping. You're here, you can help me remember how to be a phoenix but still not give up on humanity. Hard as that is.

[Leanne though...]

[His heart aches. The promise. The memories that he'd walled off from the whole world just flood him. Promises, so many promises. His love for this pure heron girl, her good intentions, her accidental mind-reading, her songs, her protecting Roxas. He tears up without realizing it, and lets go of Ikki to wipe his face with a laugh, shaking his head.]

I still can't believe you're here!

I won't lower my guard. I won't.

[And offers Ikki a rough handshake.] Come on. Let's get... food. Drinks. I need a drink. We can compare realities then. First step I'll need to figuring out where I pulled wrong, eh?

[Switching back to phoenix:] We can discuss what vengeance to wreak on kidnappers later. Leanne was the one person I tried to protect from all that darkness that still fought her way through it nevertheless, and it conflicts in my brain. Desire to protect her vs. chaos and revenge, yoi.

[An all too familiar sound that Seiya knew too well, but unlike Ikki, Seiya bears the destiny of being Athena's Chosen One, a role he all too gladly takes. Of all the saints, he's the most devoted one to Athena of them all. To the point, he'll gladly die for her...and those feelings for his Goddess is something no one will understand.

Seiya, unfortunately, don't have all the answers. Did he cross dimensions? Not that crossing other dimensions is a complex subject for him. Did he survive death? Did Athena's powers keep him alive, even now? Either way, the good news is that training with Dokho will keep him off the dreadful wheelchair, which is a probable outcome in his future if he doesn't keep himself in top shape.

Ikki doesn't have to tell him anything. He knew deep down, while Ikki is loyal, he also has a lot of burden to bear...but some of those burdens are not even his. Which cause the phoenix's fiery temper and resentment.]

No, it was just me and Master Dohko in this world. This world isn't too bad, though I can't figure out how I landed here...

[Seiya felt his energy and he doesn't hesitate. Ikki doesn't have to extend himself out of frustration. Being a pegasus and the leader of the saints of Athena, he follows his instincts.]

Do you want us to come and meet you?

[Hoping that will help and confirm that this is all real and Seiya is truly here.]

[Dohko goes to slowly walk towards the other, keeping tabs on his Cosmo. He never really dealt with Ikki before, it was still surprising to see a Phoenix Saint.]

I was also pulled here against my will. It will do you no good to allow your anger to consume you.

[He finally stops when he was within arm's length.]

Whatever is going through you, it's not your fault.

[He should hate the contact, the familiarity with which this man treats and touches him. But he doesn't, instead he welcomes it and he can feel the phoenix inside himself... Sighing, relaxing as if it had found something that was missing for a while. He hadn't felt like that ever since he opened the Pandora box and claimed the cloth.]

Why? Why do I believe you and trust you? I don't know you. But something inside me says I do. Is it because we're both phoenixes or because we really met?

[The both of them and not just some alternate version of himself.

He frowns as Marco explains that he needs him before shaking his head. That... What Marco needs...]

I can't do that. I barely know how to be a phoenix or a human, I just... I just know how to be a Saint. Even when I courted Leanne, all I did was being an Athena Saint.

[That's why he made the vows instead of being honest with himself. And yes, he can now admit it was a courting, even if it wasn't intentional at first, or ever.

He can't match Marco's laugh, not when he feels drowning in sorrow and anger like he hasn't in years, since Esmeralda died and he learned the full truth of his father. But he nods at the perspective of drinks.]

I still can't manage to get drunk on those... But maybe I will this time, it helps forget, doesn't it? Ace said I couldn't get drunk because I was allowing the phoenix to kill it.

[He senses another Cosmo he knows but at first he can't put a finger on who it is, thankfully Seiya answers that quickly. Ikki frowns as the other comments on how he can't figure how he ended in this world, he has an idea but...

He was stupid. Impatient. Nautilus gave him the power to will things into reality, to bend the universe. And he wanted to do it. He wanted to bring Seiya to a world were he would be fine, where he could recover without anyone going to the past for a gamble, he wanted to bring the Gold Saints back, so they would have a chance at the life Ikki had found. The life Athena wished for them. He wanted even her there, living as Saori because, regardless of his feelings for the girl instead of the goddess, she also deserved some peace. And he had tried to will it, before he was ready, before he was powerful enough.]

I'm sorry, Seiya.

[He blurts it before he can stop himself, but he falls silent inmediately after. No, he won't say it. He doesn't need the other blaming him, he can blame himself enough... Or worse, Seiya may even go to say that it couldn't have been that, that maybe it was something else and not Ikki's fault.

He frowns when Seiya asks about going to meet him. Of course he would do that, always the loyal saint, the leader, clumsy and an idiot at times but someone absolutely dependable when it matters. It has always angered Ikki because... It shouldn't be that way, Pegasus Saint or not, Seiya was his little brother too, even if only by half, he was the same age as Shun and Ikki... He was the oldest, he should be the one taking care of things, protecting his brother, like he did in the Sanctuary when Saga tried to kill Seiya. But he's a terrible brother and Seiya is actually a good leader.]

No. I'll go and meet you, I may be new here but I have never needed to know the place to find you, have I?

[Whether they were in the depths of the ocean or in Elysium, Ikki had always found them just fine when he looked for his siblings.]

[Dohko's words do nothing to calm the phoenix, instead Ikki's Cosmo flares even more, raging and for an instant it seems to do it even against Ikki's own wishes.]

Anger is what feeds the phoenix, Roshi. I wouldn't have been able to reunite with what I missed without it.

[He wouldn't have been able to claim the cloth if not for his anger and guilt for Esmeralda's death and for what their father had done to them, the lies and the pain.]

And don't say that something isn't my fault when you don't even know what you're talking about.

[Seiya knows his fellow saints, his family sacrificed a lot to save the world. They vowed their entire lives to protect Athena, so that Athena can protect their world and the humans who lived on it from the wrath of the gods who wished to end it.]

No need to apologize. I'm sorry too.

[That seems like a natural way to say it. Seiya felt guilty that a lot of lives are lost on his behalf, but people believed in him. Though there's nothing to apologize for or blaming for as Seiya doesn't want people he cares being hurt, no matter what journey they choose to take, and he knows Ikki takes it hard. His life and training as a phoenix is a perilous one.]

I know this place better, so I learned my way around. Let's meet half-way. The city square, perhaps?

[Dohko beats to him it, as Seiya isn't so fast and nimble as before. He gave Ikki the coordinates on his phone, and carries his silver box, his cloth just in case and waited in the town square for Ikki to find him.]

There's nothing you have to be sorry about, Seiya.

[And Ikki sounds ready to go into an argument or a fight about that. Because no matter how much they all had vowed to do, how much they had sacrificed, it had been Seiya the one doing the most. The one doing the biggest sacrifice as always. It's not something Ikki has managed to forget yet, the blame he feels himself for not being the one to break from Athena's shields in order to fight, to protect her and Seiya. If only he had been stronger, if he had broken out like Seiya then his brother would have been able to launch his attack while Ikki shielded him.]

... How are you feeling? You seem to be recovering from the wound.

[Maybe he had been brought here before the full effects of Hades' attack took place, or like with Nautilus, this place has some power to help with even those wounds. After all, there's a Gold Saint around, unless he's from before his death...

Ikki frowns as Seiya refuses to stay put, but then again he supposes he shouldn't have expected anything else.]

Half-way then.

[Nevermind that he will be tracking Seiya by his Cosmo and thus the boy moving actually makes it a bit harder for Ikki to find him, but the Phoenix isn't in the mood to argue about that. For all the anger he had upon finding himself here, all the anger he still has, he is feeling rather numb at the moment. Probably because of the shock of seeing Seiya here.]

I don't know, eh!

[A grin and a laugh, the universe held many mysteries yet, even for phoenixes.]

[And a deep breath.]

[He wants to pretend that the danger is over. That he won't be Ares or Mars now. That he didn't come so close to waging war, that he doesn't still feel it inside him, that he wasn't nearly desperate to have Ikki around, Leanne around, to stop him.]

[Robin...]

[He closes his eyes, still smiling.]

Then just be you. That's all I really need right now, yoi.

I drink to remember, not forget. And I don't know about allowing it but -- Ehh... for Sparky it might be control. Will for him. For me, I would have to do something a bit more drastic. But it's all right, yoi! We'll drink to create new memories. To be calmer.

Namur will remember you! And Grell. If you want, you can stay with us, probably. I'd probably try to drag you back there anyway, yoi.

[He wishes Thatch could remember, but maybe it's just as well.] There were others from that world, but I don't remember who's here and remembers or not. Maribelle, she works for Grell.

[Another headshake and a laugh and back in phoenix:] It seems like I had so many things to say, and now that I have opportunity to say them, I don't know where to begin!

*Isn't this a nice bit of deja vu for Faye? She grins with her chin propped on her hand as she watches*

Well, look at this - another man in a costume giving a free show.
