[Action] Tree of Woe [Closed]
Who: Remilia and Arro
What: Tackling the first of the tree monsters.
Where: Streets of Everglade, night
Warnings: Remi might get smacked into a few buildings and get injuries. Of course she regenerates, but still.
Despite her sparring with Grievous, there were still times where the vampire was certain her speed and strength alone could see her through. Meaning, of course, rather than hang back a bit and scout out this cursed tree, she charges in, ready to claw and tear at the branches and the tree itself.
But that means getting in close. And that's soon forcing her to dodge and dive to avoid getting knocked flying into surrounding buildings. That won't kill her, but it will hurt!

"Dear me; a Deputy Guardian playing about with the foliage like some ruffian?" The quip came on him rolling aside to avoid a limb crashing through a street lamp, further dimming the already bleak surroundings.
"Help, assistance~" Arro cries as he dodges again, losing his jacket this time as another limb rips it off him.

"What are you doing? Get out of he-" The distraction of his presence was enough for the tree to get a hit in, a glancing blow that makes the vampire hiss in pain and retaliate with Gungnir.

Instead of it being for looks though, he fires a black beam that...has much the same result. It shears one branch off the tree before it can strike him and starts boring into a building when Arro ceases. Collateral damage is something the GSRF won't pay for. Probably.
"Did you pe--" Unable to finish, he is whipped off his feet and dangling from a branch temporarily before it starts flailing him around wildly.

Remilia can hear the heartbeat of the person inside, and sense the blood within them. Those branches, though, must be dealt with. Speaking of which, she'll try and remove that branch...

Having about enough of this nonsense, he suddenly straightens in the air, an eerie glow flashing from his eyes as he raises an arm as if to throw a spear of his own. "TYRANT--" As he cuts himself off, he lets go of the spear even as it's forming, and it dissipates harmlessly into the air. While he was aiming, an interesting fact finally registers to him as he starts careening back to the ground.
Which just won't do as the vampire has probably already grown tired of him. Instead of falling listlessly, he flings out a whip to catch the lip of one of the buildings, keeping his posing awkward and unintentional as he swings himself onto a rooftop.
This also gives him a few moments to process what he's realized; someone is inside the tree, alive. Which was an interesting factoid. More so would be whether they could survive being divorced from the tree. Sitting up, he leans over the edge of the roof to change tactics, drawing a bow of ice to fire at the branches and freeze parts of them. While this was going to be a slower method on his part; it should allow for some decent distraction.

Perhaps deep down there is a desire to help others... but good luck getting her to admit that.
"That's it. Keep it distracted!"

Regardless of the Vampiress's designs, Arro is willing to help a person and entertain his curiosity, so when the branch lifts, he raises over the edge once more, letting an arrow fly to stiffen the offending branch before returning his attention back to the remaining branches blocking Remilia's path.

Instead of popping up in the same place again, he rises from the other edge of the roof, flinging his whip to wrap up the branches, some of which go slack as Remilia is quickly dealing with them now.
Wanting a closer view, he takes this opportunity to dive off the roof, pulling the branches with him, as he swings and manages to crash into an awning, landing on the ground with a grunt as he pulls his whip against the metal framing.
Of course, being in the thick of things just makes him more of a prime target and distraction.

There shouldn't be many branches left, right? Not at the rate Remilia is dealing with them.

"I assume you had a plan after the branches, yes?"

"Ah, excellent work, Miss Scarlet. I hope to see your detail work as skillful as your broad strokes." He replies, adjusting his shirt and vest; there's a rip along one of the darts, which more or less means he'll need a good tailor or a new suit, more likely. While he could be happier about that; perhaps they've saved a life. He moves in closer to the trunk of the tree to see what he can determine.
no subject
"Was there any doubt?"
no subject
Moving around the tree, he hums quietly, looking for a good spot to start. "I suppose there wasn't. Perhaps we might start at the top to extract this person?"
no subject
"It's almost like a Jubokko..."
no subject
"I might ask you for the chance to partake of some of your wisdom later on, Miss Scarlet." It also wasn't every day he got to hold a conversation with a vampire as Everglade kept it's ranks much more closed than he appreciated. "I think you may be close; I have the impression this is a tall person."
no subject
"Perhaps we shall... Oh, by the way, he still lives." She may live there, or rather a subarchway located there, but she's not as closed off as the locals.

As he decided the victim would be fine, he hefted the man up. "Well, Miss Scarlet~ A fine outing if I do say so myself. Might I ask you if you know a good tailor? Both of mine seem to have departed."
no subject
"That should stop that tree from regrowing."
no subject
"I am pleased to that, but if you encounter such a seed again, might I have it to study, Miss Scarlet?" Which yes, he does start on his way to taking the man to safety, as that was the most logical path. He could tell the man would need some measure of medical treatment, but he was assessing that it was thankfully not much.
"Until next time, I suppose."
no subject
"Hmm, don't you want half of the bounty?"
no subject
"Well, I am not in dire need of monetary compensation...but, sure~ If you'll escort me, Miss Scarlet." Which was a fine thing, the sort of vampires he was used to dealing with were hardly so magnanimous, and it was a fine opportunity to learn the mind of one for a few moments longer.
