[ Appearing on screen in this blond guy, coming in with the usual healthy skepticism and doubt probably that many new arrivals in Genessia are blessed with when trying to wrap their head around those first hours in this new world. Yamato tilts his head and narrows his eyes at the device in his hands. He’s a little bit flustered and uncomfortable, yet obviously trying to appear nonchalant as he starts talking. ]
Good evening. [ Polite, yet somewhat forced. ]
Where do you go in this city if you are looking for someone?
[ Very to the point. He doesn’t mean to be rude, but like so many before him he expects to be out of here in no time anyway. There’s a small pause here, then Yamato continues, features softening and showing more of his confusion at being here. ]
And has anyone been out... there yet?
[ The barrier, he means. Standing by the window in his Common Space starter apartment allows him a look beyond a few roofs at what has instantly caught his attention. ]
If you go, I’d like to come along.
[ Says the 17 year old with no discernible special skills to survive there whatsoever. And yet somehow he figures that this is exactly where the distortions are that will carry him and his friends back to the Digiworld, which fuels his determination like nothing else would. Better than keeping his mind linger on what transpired before he had found himself waking up and panic-crawling out of one of these damn cocoons.
But time to stop this here and wait for answers, Yamato decides before he impatiently reaches for his device to find the button that turns this torturous awkwardness off. ]
Thank you. See ya.

Yamato?
[Hikari’s face told of nothing more than a stunned surprise. Her lips slightly parted. Eyes wide. Betraying very little of the numerous thoughts swimming in her mind...and yet, still a notable improvement from the last time Yamato may or may not have seen her.]
[She was also wearing an outfit that was definitely not her summer school uniform. Meaning she hadn’t just arrived in Genessia.]
Video
Have a super bright and familiar smile on the screen.]
Yamato! Well, I know I haven't been past the barrier... We're all kind of stuck here. But it's not all that bad. I mean, Takeru and Hikari are here! And- [She hesitated, faltering just for a moment before smiling again.] Taichi just arrived too!
no subject
[ He mumbles in response. Yamato, too, is taken aback here. It's certainly a pleasant surprise to instantly have hooked a familiar face - this means the gang's already gathering after all, right? And yet he momentarily feels frozen considering what had happened mere hours before (for him). He can't even begin to find the right words to say to her one on one.
Yet even grief doesn't make him dense enough not to notice that something is very different here. His eyes narrow at her appearance and more of that skepticism shows in his features again. This isn't quite the same girl he's just witnessed breaking. ]
Where...? Ah.
[ Where what exactly? Where's Taichi? Where's the rest? Where are you? ]

Hey, number one person~ I haven't seen you in forever. I missed you.
[Okay, but for serious... He'll stop in a minute.]
video; 2/2
It's nice to see you, though given what was going on at home and what's happened here... [He paused for a moment.]
I am glad you are here
no subject
Takeru’s here. And he’s safe. We all are.
[Though she had every confidence the boy would be getting in touch with his Most Precious Person soon enough.]
Mimi’s here too. And... [She faltered, but only because she was still coming to terms with what she was about to tell him:] ...and Oniichan.
He’s alive. I don’t know how, but...he’s here. He appeared just before you did.
no subject
... Taichi?
[ There's numb surprise at first as he has to mentally switch from the grief he'd been trying to ignore to news this uplifting. Yamato is mutely starting at her for a moment or two, then scoffs, features softening. ]
So he made it after all.
no subject
[She shook her head, the smile reappearing.]
Anyway, Takeru, Hikari, and I live together in a three bedroom apartment! We're inviting Taichi to live with us too, and I won't accept no for an answer because you're going to live with us too.
[Her grinned widened and she shook a finger.]
The big brothers have to keep an eye on the younger siblings since they're ~dating~ now!
[She said the word in a sing-song voice.]
I'm almost out of work- if Takeru doesn't reach you first, we can meet somewhere and I'll show you where we live.
no subject
Tch, what are you even talking about... [ He's uttering in response, a touch of warmth in his voice. His little brother is alright and that alone takes a considerable weight off his shoulders. ]
Where are you? Is Gabumon with you? Let's find the rest and figure out how to get back.
[ He's still saying these things with conviction and ease, positive that this will only take some luck and determination and they'll be back home to prevent the Digi-Apocalypse in no time. It's worked before, it'll work again. ]
no subject
[Just leaving that in the air at least. But he knew he had to admit at least one of those two questions.]
It seems none of our Digimon are here. I've not yet seen Patamon after all. But we have a few of our friends, who seemed to have replied before I did. [He is going to make a face for a moment.]
I'm sorry for failing there. [He paused for a moment, he was already aware of the others speaking to him, so he had some idea of what they both might have said...]
I'm not going to say whatever has already been said, so I'll be honest. Time here is strange, much like time was when we first went to the Digital World all those years ago. Basically, time back home has stopped while we are here. I mean I had been here for nearly a month before Mimi arrived and she had no idea I had ever left... So I guess it's true.
Either way, his face soon appears on the screen, which also shows he's still in their school uniform. Not only meaning that he'd just arrived, but...he could've been brought here after that incident.)
Yamato.
And you can easily look anywhere for friends-new or perhaps old if they're here~

video
You can see the names of the people here on the contacts list. Are you familiar with this kind of technology? It's okay with you aren't~. People from all sorts of times and places end up here.

[And straight to it for the girl who usually would be multitasking while talking. But Today Chiaki really was trying her hardest to just focus on the device solely for a change unless something came up, but she very much doubted that.]

[ She knew him well, he noted - how could she not as one half of yet another inseparable sibling pair. Maybe that was what gave him these mixed feelings again at her next revelation. Surprise is followed by relief, gladness, but also deep concern, causing him to stay silent for a moment longer. He’d seen what Taichi’s loss had done to everyone, had done to her especially. Of course Yamato ultimately addressed none of that. ]
That guy… He’s too stubborn to stay away for too long, isn’t he.
[ He wryly told her instead, yet averted his eyes too look at a point beyond the device he was holding. Another moment of him hanging after his thoughts, then — ]
Let’s all meet up.
[ Anything else they would clear up more easily then. ]
no subject
[ There was even a moment where he wanted to interject a comment on their living situation, but that intake of breath deflated again when she knowingly didn’t even give him a chance to. Not that he’d have declined. Yet was he wrong for already dreading culinary experiments involving jelly beans and whipped cream again? There, that was the cue for a long sigh of defeat on his end. ]
[ But then — ]
Wait, Takeru..?
[ Yamato leaned closer to the device, brows furrowed and still skeptical. ]
Hikari…
[ Then he leaned back as this started to fully dawn on him and he stared at Mimi with a mix of disbelief and bafflement. Yamato wasn’t sure if the matter itself surprised him more or the fact that oniichan himself hadn’t been the very first to know. ]
no subject
[ Yamato told him that with an air of factitious generosity and a small smirk before he one-handedly waved this off. Failing? Not really something his little brother was capable of in his eyes. But that light bit of humor passed when Takeru continued speaking and Yamato’s expression changed from curiosity to concern. ]
If that’s the case, then how long have you been here already? [ What on earth had he missed? ]
And — [ He added after a beat, with a deadpan look. ] Hikari? [ They needed to have A Talk. ]
no subject
Taichi.
[ He’s heard the news, yet seeing his friend’s face pop up on the screen right there still managed to stun him for a second or two, his voice flat as he didn’t trust his own mixed emotions right then to come out the right way. How had they been able to miss each other at the Commons anyway? Yamato was still right there in one of the many alike looking starter rooms. And still didn’t really know what to say first. ]
You lost these.
[ He finally chose to go with, fingers idly picking at Taichi’s goggles he still had hanging around his neck. The ones he had picked up right where he had seen the earth swallow Taichi whole. ]
no subject
The apartments.
[At his suggestion to meet up. Almost like she had been expecting the words before he even spoke them aloud.]
Mimi, Takeru, and I have been staying in one of the apartments here. There's only three bedrooms, but I already told Oniichan I didn't mind sharing with him again. You and Takeru can do the same. If you want.
no subject
Since October. It's March now so five months. [He had stopped for a moment now that he had figured out the how long. That really had been a while.] That's nearly half a year already.
[And back to walking again, giving him a puzzled look for a moment. That was certainly a subject to bring up.]
What about Hikari?
no subject
[ A soft sigh, then he gives her somewhat of a small smile. ] And it seems they found me instead.
[ Then, somewhat curious — ] How long have you been trapped here?
no subject
Sounds like a good place to start. [ And after he was briefly distracted by something happening on his phone, his expression softened even further and he added — ] Seems like Takeru’s already getting in touch. Let me find him and I’ll be there soon.
[ Yet before reaching forward and turning off the video he still hesitated for a moment, expression a little more somber even as he tried to phrase his next statement half in jest. They both knew he meant it. ]
That idiot brother of yours… watch him ‘til I get there, yeah?
no subject
I will.
I’ll see you both in a little while, then.
no subject
Until then. [ Another curt nod and he tuned out. ]
no subject
[ To have missed half a year in his little brother’s life just like that smarted more in that moment than Yamato wanted to admit. ]
Have you been alone until Mimi came? [ The first worry he had to check up on, frowny Big Brother Mode activate. ] And since then you’ve had to make a living in this place?
[ And still he had a small snort to offer at this as he turned his attention back to the phone in his hand, giving his brother a mildly amused, knowing look. ]
And don’t give me that. Mimi told me.
no subject
The shades…? [ He still has to ask, dead serious about this. ] What’s even going on here...
no subject
[Pausing for that thought for a moment there was a small grin on his face.]
You would have hated it. [Not even kidding, 100% serious even with the cheeky grin. But it soon turned into a small smile instead of a grin, nodding.] Pretty much. I started with part-time, but soon got two jobs. So I make a decent amount.
[Annnnd Takeru is having a brief moment of clearly being slightly annoyed and acting like he wasn't already aware.]
I thought she would have spoken about her own relationship before even mentioning mine. I was hoping to have fun with that.
no subject
Aren't you supposed to be in school? [ He tried to make his question sound a little teasing, yet already expected that this might not have been an entirely voluntary choice. Being in this place probably made for very different priorities than the real world back home. ]
[ That reveal though caused an eyebrow raise as Yamato had clearly not known about Mimi’s own romantic interest. Sneaky of his little brother to throw that in just at the right time, yet as much as Yamato wanted to bite, he also smelled a tiny bit of a challenge in that follow-up. ]
Seriously…? [ He scoffed good-naturedly and gave his brother another look. ] You think I wouldn’t have caught on?
no subject
[And the people he worked for don't seem to mind, or the ladies who come daily for that matter, they probably wouldn't be happy if he did go to school. He didn't mind, it meant he learned a few things like various coffee if they wanted one back in the apartment. Always a good advantage with that.
At the question, Takeru paused for the moment, but not for too long as his next reply was clearly teasing on his end.]
Do you want me to honestly answer that?
no subject
[ That challenge on the other hand — ]
… d’you wanna get in trouble?
[ There came the first brotherly threat as Yamato mentally mentally added a minute to Takeru’s upcoming headlock time. ]
no subject
Any other responses were stopped the second he took note of his goggles around Yamato's neck. He was wondering what had happened to them sometime after he'd arrived, certain he hadn't dropped them.)
Thanks. I was wondering who'd picked them up.
(He offers a grin of reassurance, grateful that Yamato had waited until things had somewhat calmed down before retrieving them.)
no subject
[He couldn't resist as he laughed slightly. He was sure his brother would find something to do that he enjoyed regardless.]
But maybe I will look into going to school as well if that makes you feel better?
[Because he knew that not going to school wasn't exactly the best thing for someone his age. But yet at the same time do they even teach the same things here? He never really thought about it.
Still smiling regardless.]
You're my number one person, I knew you would have figured it out... [Wait for it...] Eventually. Maybe in like a day. But now I feel like I am about to get a talk of some kind about it. Want to do that when I find you?
no subject
[ Considering she was greeted with raised brows and a look of surprise, no, he had not known that he had a contact list right here that could help him out. And while Yamato wasn’t the type to be that tech illiterate, it had still taken him a few moments trial and error to operate the device he had been given. Flip phones still dominated the early Japanese ‘00s he came from after all. ]
Somewhat. [ He still decided to declare then, a little bit of an attempt to save pride part of this too. ]
What do you mean by all sorts of times? [ He wanted to know then as his attention was back on the girl on his screen, his look skeptical and curious at once. ] I only heard about a few months of difference so far.
no subject
You’re still with Hikari? [ Yamato eventually decided to ask to ignore the proverbial elephant in the room. ]
I’ll head there soon. [ A beat, then— ] Don’t you dare move.
no subject
For all we know the way out’s right there.
no subject
[She was pretty sure it was getting close to a year ago since that happened.]
Spirits come through and people go a little weird if they touched them. So if they live outside the barrier, which... that is where they came from, then it's not exactly safe.
no subject
(He can understand why. From what both Hikari and Takeru had told him, she'd taken it really hard when he vanished.)
Alright! See you when you get here. (A beat, then he responds with another grin.) Where can I go?
no subject
[ Yamato gave that a moment of thought as he listened, then wanted to know more. Even as it made him shudder a little — he’d never been good with supernatural sounding things and this wasn’t any different to him. ] Weird… how?
no subject
Nowhere. [ He told his friend instead, tease and threat at once, before he quickly turned off the video on his end just to be haughty about it. ]
no subject
[ Yamato’s features softened then. ] You tell me. [ He had a feeling their apartment wasn’t going to pay itself if they all went back to school life. ]
[ And, ah. That feeling of brotherly flattery followed suit by brotherly betrayal. That was worthy of another few minutes added to the penalty, Yamato decided as his expression went from fond to mildly threatening. ]
You’re already late. [ He told Takeru instead of giving him a proper anser. But Yamato was smiling and briefly distracted as he reached for the few belongings he had here in Genessia beyond what the camera was catching. Time to get up and head out, he decided. ]
no subject
Keeping up with a theme then. [Even here he would consider it as such.]
I don't know, it all depends. [he probably would still do part time if he did and it would still be fine, but he got the other job was so he had extra after he paid for rent. If he didn't need the extra he would keep them up.
But giving a small frown for a moment.]
I just got out of work... Sort of, I can meet up with you and still do one delivery, then I am done. If you are where I think you are I should be there literally five minutes.
no subject
[She smiled slightly. She was always more than happy to explain things if she needed to. After all, it was the least she could do to be of some use.]
As for how... It's really hard to explain, but I guess people weren't like themselves.
no subject
So that is not an option. How long have you been here already?
no subject
[She hoped that wasn't the case, but she had seen there aren't necessarily nice people around.]
Over a year myself, but... I don't mind being here unlike others. So I want to help out however I can.

There's a place here called 'Fayren' that feels like it's in an old fashioned fairytale. And one called 'Nova City,' that feels like a scifi novel. Since there are people here who feel at home there, I think it's safe to assume people come from hundreds of years in the past and many years in the future.
But I might just be assuming too much?
