[Action : Genessia]

[Uai had been a nerd for the past week: Checking out and reading huge stacks of books on quantum theory and other physics related texts. He's been trying to confirm if the science here is any different than the worlds he's used to. After a thorough reading, he feels confident that he can use his magic to return to the Living Library.

Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Cut for vomit, because all Uai is going to do is get himself hurt:]

[When it comes to using his magic, Uai tends to prefer wide open areas and being outside. He still hasn't bothered to buy winter clothes, since he didn't plan to stay. So when standing in one of Genessia's public parks, he's under-dressed and about to look like an idiot. Uai's magic doesn't require that he speak any words or do any fancy hand motions, either. So one moment, he's just standing calmly with his eyes closed... and then he's crumpling to the ground, covering his mouth.

For context: When his magic spells don't work, they create a rebound. Usually in the form of a monster, but Uai was prepared to possibly fail this spell. So instead, he absorbs the rebound into himself. The result is a dark aura forming around him, and him vomiting a dark, inky substance. He looks like a damn mess. If anyone approaches, he holds out his hand to stop them.]

Don't... I'm not safe.

Is it normal for the paperboy to assault you with the paper here? And why the hell are the birds swearing? Who is in charge of their social education? Is that a job here, because clearly it should be... Birds should be treated like citizens too. At least, when it means the difference between this kind of uncivilized behavior and investing in their care.

I can't believe I'm stuck in this rotten place... [He winces. A visible dark shadow seeps from a scratch on his cheek, which he attempts to cover with his hand.] ... And does anyone here specialize in fixing... ugh, can't believe I'm saying this... broken souls or auras..? Please?

Oh, did you get your paper through the window too? And everyone should be treated as a citizen.

As for fixing broken souls and auras, I can try.

Yeah. I hope they don't expect me to pay for the damages, because geez.

[Even though he asked about broken souls, he's still hesitant to get help. Asking for help is half his battle: Now he has to accept it. Yup, he's one of those people.]

I would appreciate any help I can get. I made a mistake... [On that note, he wipes more of that gross inky substance from his mouth.] What do you know about this type of thing?

[That dark shadow was haunting, it reminded her of her own soul gem, back then..]

Birds should be treated like citizens. Do you hear yourself? They're just birds, chill. [although birds swearing was really weird, she'll check that out]

... Are you familiar with witches?

Just birds, she says. [No really, Uai, chill. Not every bird is family.

... My mother is a witch. What do you want?

Well what else can birds be? Just. Birds.

[pauses]

...Your mom is a witch? Wait-you mean on the broom kind of witch, the one who does magic, or the ones I'm talking about that are actually corrupted magical girls, because we REALLY need to be on the same page, dude.

You're the one who started this nonsensical conversation about 'witches.' She's the dictionary definition.

[Uai sighs, not quite in the mood to deal with kids.]

Why do you care?

[crosses her arms]

Well I did care but you seem to not care for any help that I could have given you.

[huffs] Anyway. Your 'aura' looked like corruption-something that takes ahold and makes you a witch-a curse.

You've literally offered no help, at all.

[But ah, right. That. He covers his mouth to hide any more darkness he might cough up, all while shaking his head like nothing is wrong.]

It's not that it's taken ahold. It's... Leaking out. Though, curse isn't too far off for a definition.

So I've been told but I haven't been here very long.

[She's gotten a lot of complaints about the paper boy and she's been working in the Genessia police department for only a week or so.]

Maybe you can explain why Birds should be citizen's. Otherwise I know a wizard that might be able to help you with your aura.

Never said make 'em citizens. Treat them the same way. As in: Don't go around teaching them to swear and shoplift, and be rude. They're not toys for some idiot's pranks.

[He grumbles. Asking for help was easier than accepting it. Granted, this is his aura that's getting help with. Uai is going to be a bit picky about the help.]

What kind of wizard? Pardon my asking, but definitions I'm familiar with may not be the Webster of your world as well.

A curse..that's leaking out a shadow aura?

[pauses and raises a brow] What did you mess with, then? Did you dig up an ancient artifact? Do some awful taboo?

[offer your body and soul to a cute cat that's actually a heartless alien?]

[No, it was a cute birb and he has NO REGRETS.]

My magic comes from my soul. If I mess up a spell, I damage myself. [Uai looks down at his hand, but the inky substance is already dissolving back into his skin.] And since I'm a 'curse,' it comes out looking like this.

Birds are swearing?

[This seemed like a bad thing wasn't it? Then again Rapunzel had never really come across swearing to learn what it was exactly. Except for when people were angry, but still didn't think to ask.]

That's a bad thing that needs to be dealt with right? I admit, I know very little about it.

Am I really the only one here who speaks to birds?

[WELL UAI..........

Hearing him say that out loud helps him realize that yes, he might be. And he's being a bit ridiculous.]

Yes, swearing is bad. It's undignified and rude... Do you now know that?

[pauses] ...Do you have a jewel with your soul, by chance? Just curious! [totally not a weird question]

[Yeah, that’s a weird questions... but Uai reasons with it. It would make sense to put your soul in a hard mineral like diamond in order to keep it safe. But diamonds can’t be lovers.]

Your opinion is kind, but you don’t know much about me yet.

And no. My soul isn’t attached to any jewel. Why? Speaking from experience?

What? No! Come on, that'd be stupid.

[Sayaka brushed it off a bit, smiling widely]

..Just you know, heard it from some stories, nothing big. [she was going to ask Madoka anyway, though]

Uh-huh... So. Is having a transparent personality your most attractive quality, or will the souls and jewels secret change my mind?

[Don’t be a bully, Uai.]

Transparent? Nah, my most attractive quality would actually be my ~charm~

[Sayaka smirked] There is nothing to worry about, you just focus on your aura leaking. Knowing this place, there's probably an aura plumber.

Is that so?

[He shakes his head. Being amused, he puts aside his problem for now.]

So. Is your soul a jewel now? What about your body?

If a bird is doing something wrong I will speak to them, I might say hi now and again, but I don't have long conversations or anything.

[She shook her head slightly.]

I did not know that.

Yeah, I don't think I will pay mine either unless they really demand the money from me...

[Hey, she has been through the whole asking for help is so difficult battle too.]

[Korra starts moving a little faster because that looks bad, but she's a healer and at least used to seeing bad things too.] Never heard of auras but that sounds like some form of energy and my water has healing powers, though my waterbending master would probably tell me that it won't work if it's anything like trying to heal chi after someone's blocked it. But I also have energybending and spiritbending, one of those might help and it wouldn't be my first time helping someone's soul. I can at least promise, that they shouldn't make you feel worse as far as I know. Meaning I can't 100% guarantee it for stuff from other worlds but they're all for healing things, so I'm pretty sure they shouldn't lead to more mistakes... [Among other things that they're for.]

Why are they learning to shoplift?

[Seriously if birds are being criminals Murphy is going to treat them like people and lock them in jail... She's all for equal opportunity and punishment.]

I don't know all of the definitions between worlds but I've seen Harry do some pretty amazing things. [Don't tell him that she said that.]

Ah, birds don't usually hold conversations anyway. They're more about emotions and simple thoughts or phrases-- .... [Uai shuts himself up. Talking about bird lingo makes him lonely.

He visibly sulks as he misses his girlfriend more.]

Swearing is bad, though. Maybe it's for the best that you don't know about it.

Yes, really.

Mother wanted me to stay inside. No illness, or good reason really. But I handled the changed wonderfully. I was so excited when I finally got to go out. I mean at the beginning I thought I was being a bad daughter, but I know I'm not.

Good. I'm glad you're adjusting, at least...

[But he's already decided that he hates her mother. Decided. Done. Not changing.

Best mom award belongs to his mother anyway. The others can quit.]

It's definitely not the same, but my mother was protective for a while. When I first ascended, she kept me in her little pocket universe so I wouldn't realize the truth. Mothers can be strange with their love.

[She couldn't help but tilt her head slightly. There were some words or phrases that she didn't quite understand.]

Ascended? Pocket universe? What are those exactly?

Ah, terms from my world. I'm considered an 'ascended magician' because I left my body and turned my heart into magic. It's normal for us ascended magicians to create little worlds to live in. More like shared dreams than a physical place.

[He is way too happy to share.]

What about you? Why did you go along with your mother? Why not leave on your own?

Then how are you physically here if you left your body?

[She paused for a moment, it was a question she knew how to answer.]

Because when you are raised from a baby to live in that state and being told by the only person you know it's dangerous. You believe them. I had no way of knowing the truth. Even if I longed to go outside and discover something, I had been raised to feel bad for it because I was upsetting or hurting her because I wanted to.
