[And today's video lecture is from... not Kiryuin Satsuki? Just someone wearing her face thanks to the magic of egg-touching. Unfortunately it's not terribly easy to tell the difference. Eva comes close enough on her own to that aloof bearing that feels like it's always passing judgment, and if she usually at least is a lot less intense that's a matter of motives rather than capability; she'll turn up the pressure when she's on a subject that is near to her heart and knows how to wear the look well enough.

Which makes it all too easy for her to slip into a passable impression as she addresses the camera.]

Good morning. I have a special educational opportunity to announce. [Well, a 'passable impression' in tone and expression, perhaps, in terms of content the off-the-cuff imitation is heading into the realm of parody from sentence one.]

I'm offering some private mentoring, open to a single individual who'd like to learn more about themselves. The intended candidate is a blonde finds herself astonished by just how cute she is. Honest surprise every time you look in a mirror is required.

[That's a subtle way of calling out whoever wound up in her body right? Or rather, a pointlessly cryptic one. But that's how she is: direct about everyone else, and habitually evasive when the topic comes around to herself, as it is here. Even in the, uh, third person.

And hey, if seeing this tweaks Satsuki a bit... well, that's become a bit of a habit too. Even if she usually isn't nearly this aimless about it.]

[She gives a curt nod in closing and ends the video. No acting needed to look dour here; as nice as it'd be if she could just fish herself up like this she has to plan as though she won't, which means she'll have to go out canvassing like looking like this.]

That is not how I speak.

[She appears from the waist up, arms crossed and a scowl on her features. The callout style is somewhat familiar, but Satsuki can't match the humor with the face- It doesn't help that she doesn't recognize her reflection at all.]

While I meet only half of your requirements, I do believe I am the blonde you are looking for.

So it is you. That makes things easier. [Versus a ring exchange with more than two people, she means.

And having confirmed that much she's not making any effort to hold that rigid look anymore; it very much appears as though her conceited look simply spreads from her smirk to the rest of her body as she relaxes.]

I'm sure you have a few questions so let's chat there.

[Well, if Satsuki didn't have any questions she'll probably be able to think of at least one when Evangeline disappears from the video and steps out of her shadow.]

Very well; when can I expe-

['What am I supposed to be?' was in the forefront of her mind when it comes to questions, but stepping out from her shadow might very well cut in line there. She finds herself with a blank stare and at a loss for words, though maybe, just maybe she managed not to look as completely shocked as she actually feels. She's hasn't felt this out of her element in a very very long time.

What. Is. Happening.]

[Evangeline can't help but grin a bit cheekily at the response, an even more out-of-place look on Satsuki's face. A braggart who loves to impress people, at the end of the day...]

Heheh. Not something you see every day, is it? [Just watch yourself preen, Satsuki. However that feels.] The true magic of ages past...

[Satsuki tries her best to pull herself together but it isn't easy. She's experienced a lot of things here in Genessia and yet she's ended up running into another new thing. It's annoying- She hates being caught by surprise! As for the preening, well.. She can see why Ryuko's been annoyed in the past besides from the obvious.]

I am glad at least one of us finds this amusing.

[Though she isn't really.]

I may have seen something like it on television once. I do not suppose you have a boyfriend named Darrin Stephens?

[Eva looks nonplussed at that.] Never heard the name. So far as 'something like it' is concerned there are plenty of magic-users here... but there are also heights not easily achieved.

[...if Satsuki doesn't recognize her it's definitely going to be because of how hard that switch flips when she decides it's time to let her ego loose.]

And it is amusing. But that's not what I'm here for. How are you finding that body, Satsuki?

I disagree.

[Satsuki doesn't believe she's speaking to anyone that she's familiar with at first and it isn't long before she's reaching yet another level of annoyance. But then she thinks a bit more. however she's talking to is at least familiar with her mannerisms, and can perform magic she hadn't seen before.

.. Or has she? It doesn't fully match up with what she had seen done to Konoka but she raises her hand, attempting to conjure a violet arrow.]

Inconvenient.

[Obviously she doesn't know how to do it, but if she pulls it off it'll fill the missing puzzle piece.]

So how do I perform arrow magic?

When did you... ah. [Whoops.]

Just so you know, I've been acquainted with those two for a long time. [Yeah she might... actually be kind of embarrassed here. Though she tries not to show it.] I was responsible for both of them once, including toughening them up. And they've asked as much of me here.

[Yeah this may derail her a bit magic talks later.]

[Satsuki feels some satisfaction there; were she in a better position then she would take her turn to be smug. Alas.]

'A long time' from whos point of view, theirs? Do I appear as I do because you were posing as a teenager?

Long enough that we know each other's limits and it's between us if I want to shoot magic arrows at them.

[Defensive.]

I don't pretend to know how exactly this works but yes, you probably have that form because it's my true body. Though I don't know in what world you'd think I was 'posing as a teenager.'

[The distaste is evident. Getting cursed to attend 9th grade for more than a decade might have soured her on that concept.]

I am uncertain how I feel about of all we've just discussed, that being the ridiculous thing.

[She shakes her head.]

So this is your 'true body', though you are clearly an adult. I suppose magic has something to do with that.

Most people would call it a miracle or an abomination. The method was magic, but the history of the quest for immortality by magic is defined by failure and idiosyncrasy. Even for the Lifemaker.

Rejoice, Satsuki, if you are fool enough. [Her voice is heavy with bitter irony.] If you truly have my body, and not just my appearance, you have achieved invulnerability.

[Immortality. It isn't something that Satsuki had thought much about, but she had read plenty of stories on the subject. A thoughtful expression crosses her features, only for her brows to furrow in the end.]

So this body is the price...

[It's quite a bit to take in.]

Might I ask why you desired immortality?

[That would be a good cue for her to chew the scenery a bit if she were the type, but, no... it's an understandable enough mistake.]

The body... hah, you sound your age for once. The appearance hardly matters. You've already seen I can change anyway. The 'price' is something you can worry about if it sticks.

And anyway that's not the right question or way of looking at it. There wasn't something I desired and a price I paid to get it. It was something that happened to me. From my point of view all that happened was that when I went to sleep I was human and when I woke up I wasn't.

[What does she mean 'sound her age'? That draws a fro- Oh, she's already frowning. That aside, while the correction throws Satsuki into further confusion, that Eva was once human is incredibly interesting. There are other keys words that particularly stand out as well.]

'From my point of view'?

Hm? I was asleep when it happened. Since my guardian was the only person there who could have done it it wasn't exactly a great mystery to solve, but I didn't experience the moment of the change.

Though it was bad enough awaking with the hunger.

[Her eyes narrowed. That 'perfected' body shouldn't feel such things anymore. But then, Satsuki did not have Evangeline's soul to go with it.]

You aren't hungry, are you? Or rather you don't feel any sense of privation at all, I'd imagine.

[Asleep when it happened? The very thought makes Satsuki cringe as well as feel a little ill. That discomfort in her stomach certainly wouldn't be confused for hunger though.]

Not at current; though I had assumed it was due to the current situation doing a fine job of distracting me from it.

[There's a pause. Then she crosses her arms, unable to hide the uncertainty in her expression now. She's seen Koishi eat. For the love of god don't tell her you eat humans, Eva.]

I presume you do not have a diet a human would call ordinary?

All life must consume something to extend itself. In that sense my diet is as far as is possible from ordinary, since it must consist of nothing at all.

But as the taxonomies go I can be considered a vampire. More or less of the same kind as they're always up in arms about one way or the other here. And I suppose you wouldn't consider your blood to be an 'ordinary diet' either, even if it's far more natural in its own way than abstaining.

[Sorry Satsuki. She can intellectualize it and present it from a distance like she does everything else but that's still exactly the case.]

But to the point, when I was young I found the hunger overwhelming, and since you are new to that body I can't know whether I ought to consider you appropriately tempered, or likely to lose yourself to it. So you won't be rid of me while this lasts.

[Satsuki closes her eyes as she crosses her arms, her finger taps the opposite as she grits her teeth. She knew Yukihime was different, but to learn that all this time together she had been socializing with a vampire is...

Well.

She isn't sure how to take it. Obviously it isn't the worst thing (the worst is absolutely Koishi) but it's a big shock all the same.]

I.. Cannot disagree with that logic.

[Is.. She shivering right now? Oh yes she is. Satsuki is at a complete loss for words at this point, and her mind is reeling.]

Mm, you are a serious and thoughtful girl, aren't you? Most people don't have that reaction just from being told. They know me a little and think that bit of knowledge is everything...

[She's a touch amused despite herself. After dealing with so many fools who refuse to consider the implications, this kind of reaction is in its own way a relief, even if it comes paired with the more natural feeling of disappointment.]

Well, don't worry about it too much. If it's like the other inanities here it will reverse itself in a few days. After that you don't have to see me again.

[Who is she calling a 'girl'- Oh. Well still, Satsuki can't help but appear slightly annoyed as she crosses her arms, but decides not to voice said annoyance. For now.]

Well where I am from the idea of vampires exist, but they are beings of fiction. So, no, I haven't the slightest idea what I am dealing with. It is still difficult to comprehend, truth be told.

[That said, hanging around with Yukihime is hardly something she'd call undesirable, so the casual mention of 'don't have to see me again' actually hits her harder than she would like to admit.

So after a moment, she bows- She tries to do so level to her hips but only makes it halfway there as her cheeks burn red.]
