Right, so...

On behalf of Torchwood Tower, I'm issuin' an apology for the Nightmare Room in the Haunted House. I'm pleased to say, it's otherwise been pretty successful, and we're still looking for ghosts, pokemon, or anyone else to come out and play! Free fear to feed on, and adjacent to the restaurant which is taking off pretty well!

But while we're not removing the Nightmare room or dungeon, it doesn't just have a psychic sign, it has a red flashing neon sign and a slider! Do not take the room lightly. It's meant to get into your head in a way normal things can't, yeah? Nothin' wrong with flipping the slider all the way down, I promise.

I still believe firmly that facing your fears head on is important... but it was never meant to traumatize anyone. Or hurt. [Rubs her face.] ALSO, we strongly suggest vampires, and those connected closely to them, just avoid it entirely. It's not bigotry, I promise, but as vampires are in need of blood and eat fear, they shouldn't donate either, yeah? Let us feed you instead, okay?

In lighter news:

If I can get a soundtrack up'n runnin' in the background to the place, maybe to help remind people that none of it is real.

[Plays a bassline in accompiant to recording of the others except her "singing."]

Your apology's unnecessary. If any shitheads are complaining about the haunted house being too scary, then they shouldn't have gone in the first place. That's the stupidest shit I've ever heard. Don't lower yourself to their level to make up for their weakness.

There's no magic in my universe, either the one I was born in, or the one my Father's from. But there are species of creatures that were being squeezed out of time by a war. They were turned gaseous to survive, but the rift between dimensions was closing in on 'em. So they could possess the dead's gasses and move 'em around like zombies.

Cybermen are a zombie plague that relies on upgrading instead. My father's company was folded over into one trying to create super soldiers out of the dead. That's the scary part. They don't always have to be alive at first to spread the virus. And when they infect you, they remove your free will, independence, and self-control.

Ever heard of the rumors of plantations in South America trying to make slaves controlled by special drugs? Completely true. And really far in the future, they do it again. Zone everyone out with chemicals so the only people who aren't, are well... actually pretty explosive like you, to be honest. But in the far enough future; it's why the rich and powerful spread prejudice against robots or AI with free will. Because they can't be zombie infected and controlled.

Tch...dumbasses never learn, do you? Even billions of whatever years in the future. That's a pretty shitty reality you get to deal with.

Nah, it was usually pretty fun! Although I never wound up in a zombie-apocalyptic future at least. Someone like my Dad, Jack, me or the Doctor usually stopped things before they got close.

[PSSH ROSE IS HER OWN SUPERHERO OKAY OKAY.]

[It's late afternoon heading into evening when Martha steps away from the remaining group in the TARDIS, back to her own for a tick. There's something she needs to do involving a smart-phone and a mouthy blonde.

She's sitting on her bed with the back against the TARDIS's wall when the video connects and she looks much better than before.]

Go big or go home, that's you all over, isn't it? [There's a smile, a bit wry, and none of the bitter sharpness of before.]

[ROSE CRACKS UP AT THAT SO HARD.]

Yeaaaaah. A bit. [Jack. Torchwood, everything with the Doctor, the dimension cannon, the Nightmare room... MM-HM. Hell, that straight up WAS her problem with Ten! She didn't want to half-ass her love-life, and thus just tried to run for it instead. Ahhhhh...]

[When she gets the giggles under control, she FACEPALMS HARD.] I am sorry though. For yesterday. I promise I'm not always that bratty. I'd say not "usually," but it's been my worst habit for the better part of the last year here.

[When Rose starts laughing, Martha knows everything's going to be okay. She pulls her feet up onto the bed with her and does her best to relax. The tension in her isn't from Rose at all, anyway, so she laughs, too. Not as hard, but genuine.]

Nah [she says like someone they both know and love when the giggles stop] I still think collars are a bad idea, but then I just spent six months trying to stop the apocalypse to free him and Jack. It's none of mine, though, is it? What you lot get up to on your own.

[TIGHT GRIN.]

[WELL. THERE'S THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.]

[She looks down at her nails and fidgets!!] It's not... not your business either though, yeah?

[FACE SCRUNCH And another laugh.] I told guitarist about the collar too, recently, and if you could have seen his face...

[Gently shakes her head with an equally soft smile.] I meant it as a joke all those months ago, never expected him to keep it up. But I think it's also his rebellion to his older selves in a way, yeah? [Finger over her lips.] But don't tell 'em I said that.

Not a word. [The promise is easily given. Martha Jones can keep a secret, yes she can, even if she prefers to be straight about things.

Which is why she's not going to let go of that bone of contention so quickly. Rose is nervous. She doesn't need to know her to see it, though for the life of her she can't see what Rose has to worry about from her.]

Hark, you. There's three versions of him, somehow, Jack, and a whole big world out there. I'll find my place, and you don't need to worry about me trying to take yours. As if I could.

[Welp. Straight for it then...]

[Rose switches this quickly to a lock, and adds some extra encoding, since the Doctor could break through anything, but if she adds more to it, he'll feel guilty for trying.]

You already did, actually.

Well, not my place. You have your own here, yeah? I mean... with Jack and the Doctor.

He --

[Grits her teeth.]

[How to phrase it?]

[The only person who really knew how much it hurt Rose was 12. She had to do everything to bury it from Jack and 10.]

He missed you so much he left here. And Jack... [Doodles a finger on the desk.]

[Waves the hand, not really looking up or straight.] Don't worry about it. [She does look up, but her nerves freeze all over again.]

[Jack and her were always working so hard to be each other's heroes it was dysfunctional as hell, and no one knew how to fix it. And Fluffy... Whew. Between running away, and then asking him for a date, she knew she was yo-yoing him. She didn't want to. But what was even the alternative?]

[And 12 got it so well she didn't have to say anything. So it was just... better this way, wasn't it?]

He's still him, even when he's older. Just as daft as ever, yeah?

[There's a lot she knows, but even more she doesn't. While she's tempted to press, to ask questions, she hasn't earned confidences from Rose. So she listens and tries to hear the things Rose can't bring herself to say. And it's hard. Ingrained jealousy getting in the way and all.

But Rose...she isn't who Martha expected her to be. Other than blonde, she never really did know what Rose would be like, and it figures she'd be as emotional as the Doctor. A mood ring, the middle one had called him, and Rose was that, too.

She frowns, sighing.] I'm sorry he hurt you because of me. [Although there's part of her that lights up at the thought he could miss her so much. A small part that she hushes, since there's no need to put that in Rose's face when she can hardly believe it herself.]

You know, yeah, he never stopped missing you the whole time I was with him? Even if he's rubbish at saying it, you matter to him. [Which means, like it or not, she matters to Martha too.] Be less daft than him. Don't let me get in the way, yeah?

Nah... I know he's done the same to you so... no worry.

[Wry grin.] See?

Hmm... well. He does say it.

A lot.

[Chews her nail up!] It's not that you're in the way, Martha. [Soft and serious look.] It's not.

[Drums fingers on her desk. She wanted to run away. She promised to stay. They were always in orbit and...]

We've always been like --

[Hesitates, shakes her head, and laughs.] A mess. An absolute mess.

[Bowtie, River Song, Guitarist. Jack.]

[Fluffy was never going to let her go. She could never let him go.]

[It was a mess.] Did Jack ever tell you how he and I met?

[Abruptly she's both tired and raw and too much of both to do this over a videoscreen if they don't have to. It's there in her face and her fidgeting with her hands--]

Rose. Let's not do this over the network. Even if it's private... I can't, yeah? Everything that's not face to face makes me twitchy.

Just come to the TARDIS. Or if you can't, tell me somewhere to meet you. [Jack and the Doctor could let her out of their sight long enough for her and Rose to do girl-talk. It wouldn't be long, because she was having trouble with the idea of letting them out of hers.]

[Giggles and nods.] Want tea? I mean... I can come in the TARDIS, but it's even weirder then, yeah?

Ta. Tea would be brilliant. [A smile of relief and she nods, knowing.] Himself will be having fits over us talking without him, but it's good for him not to know everything.

[Giggles and nods.] Definitely. Annnnd he'll be glad. He was pretty steamed at me last night. I mean, I deserved it, but... at least means he'll be relieved we're gettin' along better'n ...

[Pauses. River? Jenny? Sarah Jane? TARA. REINETTE.]

[OKAY. ROSE ADMITS IT. SHE HAS A PROBLEM.] I don't get along with his other women in his life. [Hand up.] Except the TARDIS. And I've always liked you. OH! And Donna. I love Donna.

Anyway, yeah, tea! Don't worry about the err... decor and atmosphere, all right? The vampires won't bite, the synthetic plasma is more-- [Rolls her hand in a circle.] Like coffee and candy for 'em anyway.

Sometimes I really do wonder about your species.
