The extensive list of bounties each week has been making an unfortunate impression on my feeling of security. The rate of violent crime in the newspaper has been unsettlingly consistent since I arrived here.

I would like to hire a private bodyguard for the rest of the week. I have the funds necessary. Please apply promptly and I will waste no time with a background check, hiring, and delivery of payment. I would like to have someone working for me by noon tomorrow. This will be a trial, as my job is busy and I require a good fit that will not frighten my fanbase.

[All of this has been sparked by the recent bounty "Hard Drive Harvest," where someone has been stealing hard drives from androids in Nova. Unfortunately, Ai works in Nova. He has no comment on the un/fortunace of himself being an android (though, he doesn't broadcast that fact.)

Usually, Ai is calm and level-headed when he's traveling between jobs. He likes the alone time and uses the walks or bus rides to listen to his music. But with that bounty out, he's more jumpy than unusual. Rather than ignore people who stare too much or get too close, Ai bluntly addresses them today. Not fearfully, persay, but definitely with some caution.]

That's a perhaps too-drastic course of action. Do you truly think the ones in the paper will go after you?

As a part of the entertainment industry, security is a top priority for me. Regardless of whether the cases present in the paper right now apply to me, I plan to be prepared for the future.

Is that line of thinking difficult?

No, it's limpid. So you suspect that future felons featured in the paper could be? Even possibly? Or it this more a general concern?

With the wide range of violence I have read in the past months, I cannot rule out the possibility. It would be most logical to hire a pendent bearer like myself to provide additional security, so that I may focus all of my energy on my job.

Are you satisfied, or do you intend to quiz my decision more?

Mm. Well, if peace of mind is worth the purchase. It's worth knowing that the non pendant bearers keep to themselves always. That pattern has been unbroken in the several years I've been here.

While I do find that information comforting, I would rather be safe than sorry.

But I will keep in mind when selecting the appropriate candidate that they may need skills other than simply protecting me from physical harm, in order to be worth the price.

If you ask me, publicly hiring a bodyguard is the most nonsensical thing to do. What if the criminal applies?
