[ If anyone finds the sight of a guy with a mask covering half his face odd, well - Kanan's wearing a mask, so he can't tell if people are staring. Probably. What's remarkable, though, is how easily he seems to get around, despite the fact that he clearly can't see, doesn't have a cane, and is new in town. He's not running into people or objects, merely nodding his head occasionally as he passes someone, stopping at a stall selling fresh fruit at one point to sniff the wares with interest.

It's only when he stumbles over a curb that he lets out a muttered curse and tries to right himself before causing a scene. ]

Okay, new galaxy, new planet, I got the run-down. My only question is - anyone familiar with Phoenix Squadron?

[ That? Would be teasing from the sixteen year old girl a few feet away. And then her tone switches to something more concerned...if a bit cautious, too. ]

[ Kanan sighs, dusting himself off a bit, then tests the curb - to figure out how high of a step off it is, etc. ]

I'm fine. Not sure what the point of this is, though.

It's just a couple inches. Not too high. Just a tiny bit above ankle-height.

[ Charlie's danger sense isn't screaming at her in this situation. Truthfully, it hasn't gone off once since she woke up here. But she's still wary and paranoid, due in no small part to her life leading up to this moment. There's about thirty seconds after Kanan's introduction before Charlie offers her own name. Very carefully. ]

You'd have to be stupid or malicious to drive through pedestrians, regardless of whether there's an inches-high trip-up there.

[ Of course, where Kanan comes from, nobody drives vehicles with wheels. Everything hovers. ]

Or both. It's usually both, in my experience. And the stupidity makes the maliciousness worse, because they don't know what they're doing is malicious.

[He was doing fine in Kirika's eyes. She wasn't sure whether the man was indeed blind or not, even with the helmet. She paced herself towards him, assisting him up.]

I think being knowingly malicious is worse than being ignorant, honestly.

[ He dusts himself off, scowling a little, but only in annoyance with himself and perhaps a slight bit of embarrassment at having stumbled in public. ]

[ While from Kanan's perspective, ignorance can be corrected, while someone knowingly malicious - someone who chooses that path - is far less likely to change their ways. ]

I'll take anything that's not a protein bar right now. Guess I'm following my nose.

[ Charlie looks around for a moment, spotting one of the vendors she'd met the other day. They sold fruit and veggies and small pastries. Maybe Kanan'd be interested in that? ]

There's a cart a few yards away. Cheap foods if you're looking to make your money last until you get a job. But it's good.

I only know two of those three words, but put together they don't make any sense to me at all. I mean I'm going to literally smell my way to some food. I smell pretty good these days.
