[Hey, she can be just as rude right back atcha buddy.]
If you're successful in the first half of the takeover, yes your body disappears when you possess another being. From there you have the battle of wills, if you are successful you are that person as well as your former self from now on. You can change between the two forms at will, but the original entity might still try to regain control if they have sufficient will or aid. Usually takeover mages don't do a full body takeover, for while it is the most effective way of taking absolute control, you will usually destroy the one you possess, as well as risk destroying yourself if you don't have the strength for it.
Theoretically it's possible for someone who uses takeover magic to lose themselves so completely that the one they attempted to take over now gains all their powers, memories, and knowledge. That... is how I gained the ability to possess humans, because I fought a demon with the very same magic I possess, only theirs worked solely against humans. Because you gain such insight into the being you possessed, in many ways you do become a combination of yourself and the other being. Traditionally takeover magic is used merely to make other beings do as you please, but you can use it for full body takeovers and that's how I vanquished most of the demons I've fought.
[Of course... it's quite a bit easier to perform a full body takeover on a being that is beaten so badly that they don't have the strength left to resist you.]
Does that satisfy your burning curiosity about my power?
[She wasn't to concerned about him gaining insight about it to use against her, primarily because her takeover magic was a mere fraction of her true powers, and one she likely wouldn't use on him anyways.]
