PoTO: September Rehearsal Catch-All

WHAT: Opera Rehearsals, costume fittings, cast mingling, whatever else

WHO: Anyone who wants to be involved! Actors, stagehands, musicians, etc.



Production was in full swing the moment the cast had been chosen and required personnel had been hired to work the stage. Between initial costume fittings, detailed staging, raw run throughs, choreographed dances to learn, and adjustments between scenes, the theatre is constantly a whirlwind of activity.

The scenes are relatively new to the stage; while the lines have been learned, this may be the first time they’ve been worked out physically with partners, and the rest of the cast proper- an awkward moment or forgotten line is more than likely to occur. At this point, the rehearsals are closed to just those involved and their closest guests- no photographers, no reporters, no real critics aside from the directors and your peers. So work hard and break a leg!

Dove - August 29 (after the Dracula VS Everglade incident)

While she had eventually managed to sleep for a few hours, Dove didn't quite look her cheerful upbeat self when she all but dragged into rehearsals that morning. Hair tossed back in a loose bun, she wore no jewelry aside from her Genessia pendant and a surprisingly simple outtfit of jeans, a loosely fitted v-neck shirt, and flats.

Coffee (not her usual hot tea) mug in hand, she makes her way to center stage to meet up with everyone else before the directors arrive, script tucked under her arm. At least today was mostly just staging and fittings... her energy was low, but she would do her best. Probably a bright red flag that she just offers a smile and hangs back instead of jumping into the conversation and greeting everyone like she normally does.

"Dove!"

As nervous as she'd been during auditions, Amy had taken to rehearsals like a duck to water. After somehow managing to wrangle someone to take over cooking for breakfast and lunch at work, she bounced into rehearsals, going straight for a hug for her co-star. "What's up?"

She tenses as the girl's arms go around her, but relaxes quickly into a smile and hugs her back tightly, careful not to spill her coffee on her. "Hey! Just trying to wake up and hoping they don't notice," she grins, glancing a conspiratorial look in the directors' direction. "You?"

"Had to wrangle someone to take over cooking for breakfast and lunch at work, that's all," Amy said as she let the other go, bouncing excitedly. "But I'm here now!"

She laughs at the girl's energy, immensely glad for it in the moment. She definitely needs a boost. "I'm glad you got it worked out." She glances across the stage, craning her neck a bit to see over the others. "Any chance they brought us snacks again?"

Amy raised herself up on tiptoes and looked in the direction of where the snack table had been the last time. "I'm...not sure?" she said. "I hope so."

"Me too. I had pizza at 2am and it's nooooot working out," she sighs. "I'm starving."

She relaxes. They'll find out eventually, she supposes. "It's just staging today, right? And measurements?"

Amy nodded, pulling a scrunchie out of her back pocket oh why did these not exist back in her world, it would have made things so much easier and tying her hair back. "Yeah," she said with a nod.

Dove - The Morning After [Closed to Camus and Styxx]

...She had at least hoped the wine and the two hour bath would have helped a little, so far as the stinging of her legs went. She had slept extraordinarily well, content with her efforts and the way the hot water and salts had soothed her...

but when she had woken this morning and felt the throbbing in her legs even before she stood, she knew she would be in for an interesting rehearsal. Slipping into her usual leggings and long thin tunic took much more effort than she would ever admit, and by the time she had made it to the coffee shop where she had arranged to meet her trainer, she was cursing his name.

He's earned himself a rather (albeit playful) dirty look by the time he arrives, even as she slowly scoots the hot tea she's picked up for him across the table where she sits...resting.

When Styxx saw the glare, he couldn't help but laugh. He'd expected something along those lines considering her personality, and it entertained him in a way. Funny how he rarely laughed like this anymore.

"I'm assuming you're sore." He said, expecting as much as he took the tea and took a sip of it. It wasn't unexpected that she would be sore after the 75 laps he'd made her do.

....the 75 laps were worth it to actually hear him laugh. She almost drops the act at he sight of her friend's smile, but holds steady, keeping that golden glare trained on him over her paper cup. "I'm assuming that's not an offer to carry me to the theatre?" she counters.

"No, you're on your own. It'll do you good to deal with the pain because being in a battle can reach that point at times depending on how long it draws out for." The asshole was still laughing at her.

He seems so much younger when he smiles...

She groans dramatically and flops onto the table, hair splaying across its surface. "Chivalry is dead," is the grumble that comes from below it.

"Hardly, but you asked me to train you, not baby you."

She gives him a most pitiful look as she gathers her hair and sits up, laying it on thick.

"What's a girl have to do for a gentle man..."

....she's right on the brink of laughing.

"I am a gentleman. But I'm also your trainer. Don't expect babying."

Narrowed eyes.

"Friends before trainers."

She's ready to concede.

"Not when it comes to this." He's an asshole, remember?

"This is morning tea," she grins, on the verge of laughing out loud. She settles back in her chair, raising a brow up at him. "And as you're coming to my closed rehearsal today as my guest..."

He was still smiling as he answered. He knew she was messing with him. "I'm not carrying you. You're on your own. Remember, I'm an asshole."

Keeping him smiling was her goal for the moment, even as she rolled her eyes.

"Yes, yes....I'm almost starting to believe you..." she sighs, setting aside her drink and begrudgingly scooting her chair back to stand. "But really..."She hesitates, pouting at the table for a moment before she finally pushes herself to her feet with wince. "I may have to hand over a feather if we keep going on like this."

"A feather?" What the hell did that mean?

She straightens and rubs the top of her thighs, tilting her head up at him. ".....Angel insurance. We'll cross that bridge if we have to." Maybe she's a little more serious now, but they'll have to walk soon and she's already dreading it.

He'd walk with her when they were finally ready to go.

She heads out toward the theatre, tea in hand and steps careful. Her blood's been working to heal her up but... it's not exactly comfortable. She does shake her head at him though. "How are you not sore?" Is that what he did in his free time? Run laps?
