1st Punishment [Voice/Action]
[Voice]
Instead of being wisp away to an afterlife, not only I was kidnapped, our captors sounds so boring. Are they actual spirits? Has anyone yet met them? Wouldn't you call this a crime?
[The woman sounded bemused, a sighed escaped at the last sentence, the thought of this bore her.]
Bad little spirits, someone should teach them a lesson.
They say you live once so don't regret it, but this life... is questionable. I don't particularly have a feel in this. Anyway, I suppose I'll play along with this charade and the life given to me.
Though... I wonder. [Tap, tap.] Fill my curiosity residence of Genessia, what are your thoughts on criminals from other worlds arriving here as well? Are their slates clean upon arrival? Can you simply forgive what they they've done in their previous world and and let them live on as if it's nothing? Your enemy as your neighbor?
Hmm.. [She's probably smiling over in her end.] And how is that fairing? And most importantly, how are criminals handled here?

[Voice Reply!)
"Some of the people who've arrived here have died more than once, as far as I understand. And more than once, people have tried to take the law into their own hands. Most of them failed rather spectacularly. Unless you mean to make an example of yourself."
A short pause as Satori considers the next question...
"Speaking as an ex-Guardian, so long as criminals and troublemakers reform themselves while they live here, they have no reason to be punished. And speaking as an erstwhile predator, humans rarely forgive others unless it's in their best interest, with several exceptions. However, the current round of Guardians might have differing views on crime and punishment and I can't speak for them. If you're curious, seek them out."
A small chuckle, as Satori can't really hold back her snark, forever.
"Regardless of whether you were the greatest saint or the worst sinner, your speech is soaked in a stench of hubris. It's rather wasteful to question our ambiguous benefactors if you've a chance to survive."
I don't see how their slate is clean, as it's the heart that's the thing in such matters, but I'm not a lawyer.
As for forgiveness...pardon, but what's your name? Mine's Ted.

[She is thinking of one person in particular. Sure she had met another who she had been more forgiving of, but that was mostly because she hadn't met them and they seemed genuinely sorry at the time.]
1/2 (Voice Reply!)
I see. [Tap, tap, she let out a boring yawn.] No thank you. To do such a crude would bid them criminals themselves. [She's half right.] The pamphlet didn't specify the laws here, only stated those who boast themselves with higher power and superior is simply swept under the rug, rock bottom. Though I'll admit, I've had yet to meet an individual with 'special powers'. [She is even quoting that in the air.]
Still... [She doesn't seem afraid of the thought of beings stronger than her or different from that matter.] It's quite interesting, so to say.
Oh? [A predator, that perked her interest.] What are you exactly if I maybe so bold? A demon perhaps?
[Was that a joke? Her tone rose, not only curious but the thought of it filled her with delight.
Oh.. That is so adorable, even Cathy couldn't had kept her laughter in forever, so she laughed.]
(Voice Reply!)
On the contrary, this wasn't what I expected after I breathed my last air. We'll be the best of neighbors~!
[Voice
So do they expect a thanks from my revival? Or a token of gratitude. Or do they mean to use us? It's quite difficult to push the thought a side.
Neither am I, but the role I performed when I was alive stated otherwise.
Hm? I'm Cathy! [She perks up answering her name.]

[Poor girl.]
[Voice]
Re: [Voice
Ahehe, they expect more than that, I'm afraid. Revival is an interesting theory too--so many come on or past the brink of death. Alas, we don't really know. Hence the kidnapping theory isn't necessarily wrong, just unverified.
Goodness. You merely acted the part? How did that turn out?
[He's not sure which result would be more disturbing. Could a job so meticulous and serious be merely played to the same outcome?]
Oh, heh, hello Catherine.
[He says with a pinch of nerves. People meaning the opposite of their names strike a perverse, unsettling tone to his heart. She doesn't seem as pure as "Catherine" suggests.]
Right, ah, forgiveness. Well, anyone can, provided that they're a wronged party. I've no examples to cite, unfortunately.
As for criminals, we...don't, by and large. Most either take to politics and make their crimes into law, or do so too subtly to take to task.

[Not that that's ever happened to her. This was more of a curiosity.]
Video;
[This isn't the first time a new arrival questions the misdeeds of their captors. However, this is the first time anyone asked if alleged "criminals" ought to be given a clean slate. That's a thought provoking question, one that Augustine is hesitant to answer.]
It would depend upon the nature of the crime. Forgiveness is an virtue not often expressed. Many forget it exists and choose to linger within their hatred instead.
[He speaks from experience.]
Re: [Voice
Aww, but the thought of being spirited away sounded, I don't know, alluring. The information provided on arrival seemed confident though, but too bad. [She doesn't seem to mind about it.] Still, what do you expect, an answer is enough at most. The spirits residing here is accurate I assume at least?
[She claps her hands once, now extremely cheerful and loud.]
Oh well! I'm alive and well surprisingly. I was also hoping to thank them, you know~
[Don't ask Ted. Don't ask.]
Please, just Cathy.
Ah, that. Oh it's not that bad. Prison guard, keeping our tough faces on while hearing those sap stories of their innocents and guilt. You know how they say 'innocent' til proven guilty? In prison is more 'guilty' til proven innocent.
[She continues to listen.]
You don't say... [She doesn't know how to feel about that last part.]
[Voice]
Sure. Why not.

[Either way, it didn't matter to her. They still did it, it's a crime.]
They'll be treated as criminals regardless.
voice;
[She still keeps it voice, her make-up is horrid. Yet, she is grinning at the thought of this.]
Therefore it will always remain as a crime to their eyes.
Re: [Voice
I...I see. That must've been rough going.
[His optimism barely powers through that, hoping she meant that those in prison were already convicted, and thus had to work harder for innocence than otherwise. And a girl prison warden? Yeesh. She must be very...strange. Strange enough that he supposed she was one of those impossibly perky types whom no bad news can really dismay.]
For what it's worth, our criminals are very petty, and don't tend to target people like us. Quoth a superb writer: "it is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged." In my three years here, I've yet to see that lack addressed.
[Probably better that it wasn't, as Ted would almost certainly be first to go.]
video
You forget that their hatred is justified regardless of how it burns. However, they shouldn't let such hate consume them lest they wish to be no better than the one who wronged them.
[He pauses for a time, clearly wondering how his past misdeeds play in all this.]
It would be shameful for the sinner to expect forgiveness no matter how much they yearn for it.
Re: (Voice Reply!)
She isn't even going to respond to that with much fanfare. That laughter struck her as the laugh of someone who'd probably bend some rules and ignore her advice, anyway. Her loss, she supposes.
"That said, regardless of your stance, I'm perfectly willing to debate your philosophy about all this, so long as you aren't so intent on playing demon, yourself. Humans play a dangerous game when they're intent on cruelty, after all, even if they justify millions of times."
Satori, thankfully, couldn't read this woman's mind without physically approaching her, after all. But considering her reply, she didn't really want to come near her to find out unless absolutely necessary.
"...This wasn't quite what I expected, either. Whatever you intend isn't my concern, so long as you consider that this world is not the one you left. The nail that sticks up from the board is usually the first to be knocked back down."
Re: [Voice
Then my life was ripped from me. [Literally. A small sigh, rasp voice.]
[Three years... whether petty or not, they were bounded as criminals regardless.]
Ted, what have you done in the years you've been here then? Job wise?
[Voice]
[Not to mention, a very boring one.]
Really, something like that is nothing worth dwelling about here.
voice.
[Oh dear, that statement itself she can't really answer for good reasons.]
Yes, and it can become a never ending cycle. [She almost sounded bored.]
Wait. Are you expressing this from past experience?
Re: (Voice Reply!)
True, humans can be dangerous creatures. Don't make assumptions just because of a little chat, demon. I just woke up from an unpleasant nap after all.
[It was harsh and forward when she spoke. Oh, how she wished she could meet this one. A deep sigh, calming herself.]
Never the less, it's a fair warning to those who intend to do wrong. Thank you for the information regardless. Let's meet sometime, okay?
[Why isn't she afraid?]
Bye~
Re: [Voice
[Curse his chivalry. Any woman that showed signs of frailty like that made him want to go slay dragons or something. Alas, this was all in the past, and he has only vague sympathy to offer. And more optimism as a condiment, natch.]
Well, here's that second chance you've been wanting, eh?
Oh, me? I...
[Ted, philosopher that he is, is fairly certain work is supposed to be something that makes you feel good for the use of his community. His jobs don't feel at all like one of those.]
Worked with law enforcement. First from the inside, as a kind of police chief, then switched sides to take on cases the usual day-to-day can't. Bounty hunting, I mean. Aheh, I only wish it were as interesting as that sounded.
Re: video
[There's a smirk that curls onto his lips but it gives away nothing of the truth. Augustine is quite tight-lipped about his past but on occasions, he'll offer a few pieces. Still, he's quite guarded about his past.]
Not everyone can be as pious as God and his beloved son. We all have or faults whether we acknowledge them or not.
[Voice]

[Which is something she was aware was never going to happen anyway. She was always a good person, the only time it probably would happen would be pure accident or set up.]
But I guess sinners and that whole thing is what interests you?
[voice]
All of those points are very valid points, and trust me, you are not the only one to question this place's spirits and their criminal system.
From what little time I have been here, I can say there isn't much crime as I would have thought.
Re: [voice]
Regardless, there are some unlawful activities here that can't go ignored, whether is large or small.
[Le sigh.]
And who might you be~?
Re: [voice]
[Ryoma took a deep breathe. There were certainly a lot of..oddities going on]
I am Ryoma of Hoshido. What is your name, young lady? Are you acquainting yourself in this place alright?
