Faye Fails [Video - Open to Action]

*Following the carnival, Faye had disappeared for several days. She didn't tell anyone where she was going, but just left. She wasn't seen at home, she didn't turn up for work, she wasn't seen around networks, and she didn't reply to any calls or messages that were sent to her. She just disappeared. Who would even notice that she was gone? Who would even have the time to realise and care?

When she returns, however, this is the first message that she makes, ignoring everything else and focused on Orihime's apparent disappearance. Faye looks and sounds positively thunderous*

Where have people already looked for Orihime? What leads do you have? What's the next step?

As for you - you sick bastard who took her - I hope you know it's only a matter of time before your guts are splattered on the ground and you're left to rot like the piece of shit you are.

*That scowl on her face is no laughing matter, nor is the resounding click of the gun she has just primed*

Did you just ignore the rest of this message? It was a call for help so that we can figure out who's done this shit. And, on the off chance that they are watching, then the threat carries.

That all depends on what you have done to her... The punishment fits the crime. Either way, there's a whole lot of pain on the way.

[She shouldn't. But this is just too much for her to leave alone. She at least doesn't go so far as to show her face, because she's not sure the act would hold so well.]

Someone's gone missing? How terrible! Are you sure it's just the one? Could anyone else be at risk? Maybe this is just the start of something bigger!

I haven't seen her around Attleon lately. I didn't even know she was missing.

[But she put that down to the fact she was sure that girl was always working, either doing her business or healing people or the deputy thing.]

I don't know who she is, but I'm not a fan of anyone being abducted. Do you need any help finding her? What does she look like?

[He reaches over and pulls a notepad and pen up to the screen for a second, and then holds the pen in preparation to take some notes.]

[ Although he’s been preoccupied with an assortment of things Gren certainly noticed the disappearance of someone he considered a friend. Many of his messages had been ignored even the ones in all caps that said things like, I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE THIS IMMATURE to YEAH WELL FUCK YOU TOO, FAYE VALENTINE. The last one was immediately followed by an apology, another plea for a response, and declaration about how much he cared. Because really… he did care.

He doesn’t know who Orihime is, but he can at least relate to the troubling churning in the gut when someone you care about goes missing. He knows it’s not the appropriate time for this, but he doesn’t care. He allows Faye to finish her little hardass bit before he dryly says, ]

*Faye has seen those texts now. There were enough of them that she didn't know how to reply - especially as they really battered her about emotionally.

But seriously, Gren, what the fuck? She narrows her eyes at him, holding her breath as she tries to keep all her patience together*

[ The dryness is still in his voice, scratching. ]

It really sucks when your friends go missing, huh?

*The breath she was holding becomes a big long sigh and she looks away with a guilty shrug*

[ He quietly watches her for a moment. His restraint is evident in the clenched set of his jaw. ]

Where were you?

Away...

*Faye still doesn't look at him, sighing heavily again, shoulders dropping*

And I might go back again some time. Who knows?

[ His eyes narrow a bit, his restraint beginning to recede. ]

Yeah? Well, I'd know if you'd just say something. Maybe next time you could try doing that instead of just fucking off without a word.

[ Now that's he's started, he can't stop. ]

Do you have any idea how that makes someone feel? To be so worried that it feels like your guts are going to ooze out of your ass? A little consideration would have done wonders, Faye. I didn't know if I had offended you in some way. I didn't know if you were in some ditch somewhere. I didn't know if I'd ever hear from you again...

[ He pauses briefly to shake his head. A bitter smile forms on his lips. ]

You really have a knack for making people feel like ineffectual pieces of shit, you know that? I've tried. What else do I have to do to make any of it matter to you? Do I matter to you? If not, just say it and I'll leave you to your precious solitude where you can pretend that no one cares about you.

*Okay, maybe Faye had been a little harsh - she doesn't know this person, but still, she can't help but be overly cautious*

*But then his rant continues so she shuts her mouth and just listens, not doing a very good job of looking patient. At 'ineffectual pieces of shit', Faye can't keep up the quiet and finally snaps back*

*Faye holds her arms over her chest ans shakes her head, clucking in annoyance*

This isn't about if you matter to me or not - I'm a grown woman who decided to do some thinking in her own space, that's it. And to be honest, I had no idea it was necessary to announce where I was going; I didn't think it would make any difference whatsoever, and I didn't think you would even notice.

[ He rolls his eyes hard enough that you would think you heard them rattle. ]

I get it. You're a big girl. It's okay to want space, but my point is that you should at least tell people that you're going to be away for days so maybe they don't think you're dead. What you did was emotionally irresponsible because I did notice. The last time I saw you... you weren't in the best shape. So, when I checked up on you and didn't hear anything for days my mind came to its own conclusions. All of them bad. This could have easily been avoided if you were more of a considerate person.

[ He stops to take a deep, soothing breath. ]

[Gale had been fretting the past few days, since Faye not returning home wasn't at all like her. So there would be a few missed messages from him on her phone, including a text that had simply said "Just tell me you're safe."

His messages going unanswered had prompted him to search well into the night. So when he suddenly hears Faye's voice over the network when he's taking a short break in the Skyrise office, there's an overwhelming wave of anger washing over him. Maybe it was justified, maybe it wasn't, but the whiskey glass in his left hand promptly shattered when he gripped it too tightly. At least the sound wasn't turned on yet.

He sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth. When the sound does turn on, Gale sounds eerily calm. He wants to chew her out, but there's a time and a place. And not on a network notice about a missing person.]

So. When were the Guardians going to be let in on a missing deputy?

How long has she been missing?

*Gale... Since returning, Faye was full of the guilty knowledge that she had treated him in the same way he had treated her once. She was sure that she was due a rinsing. But his voice was calm. Either this was before the storm, or he genuinely hadn't even realised that she'd gone. She keeps her voice as business-like as possible for now*
