I know full well the difficulty, and the only solutions to it: escape, and perhaps redirection. First off we've got to away from here. It's evil to you now. A book store, especially one with many on clearance, might do you better. No one evidently wants them, and by the end you'd have a collection, however questionable, that you could share instead of hoard. My parents did something much like that.

Or perhaps a wide, empty place, with nothing around. Just as nuns forsake the company of men, so you'd forsake the company of baubles. Something like that.

There may be another way, with high risk and payoff both. Are you any good at finding books, or just gathering whatever's on hand?
