The Doctor Is In | OTA Video

[The Doctor comes on the video feed with a (slightly quirky) smile, hands folded on his desk in front of him.]

Hello, everyone, the Doctor, here, I've been hearing about things going on, transformations, if y'like, awkward for everyone involved, to be sure, but thought I'd reach and say a couple of things. First off, should go without saying, but do try to be considerate of ev'ryone else in an uncomfortable situation, they're not monsters, or, well, yeah, they are, I s'pose, but monsters are people, too.

Second, for those of you who've found yourself suddenly human, don't hesitate to let me know if you need some advice on how to adapt. I've got more than a little experience with humans, and even if you've not had the best past experiences, I promise they're not all that bad, and you might even get to enjoy it a bit, maybe get along better with some of your neighbors, afterward, consider it an opportunity for a learning experience.

Oh, and, second-and-a-half, Rose, might be a good opportunity to help out in general, yeah?

I would like to offer my services as well, if I can. I... I have experience with being considered a monster when I'm not.

[Alice is... incredibly tiny. In fact, her whole body can be seen on the screen and she is currently sitting in-between the legs of a plush rabbit. She also has black and blue butterfly wings jutting from her back.]

[there might be a tickling sense of presence, but not much beyond that. A pen nearby is picked up and dropped several times before words are written shakily on a piece of paper]

help... me... I've...changed...

I'm working on remembering eating, there's at least laying down when its dark.. Scrubbing every day? Something like that...

[ Someone looks like he's jittery, a little shaky as he runs his hand through his hair. ]

... I'm definitely forgetting something.

[Ten is still his regular height but has some lovely wings on his back. Pointy ears, long braided brown hair and an orange tattoo covering his face that translates to - Vab Decem.

Ten slowly pops his mouth.]

I'm on over time - aren't I?

[Lend a hand or something self?]

[Since this is the first he's heard of that happening, the Doctor jumps, staring at the pen as it struggles to write.]

...whot?

[He's surprised for just a second before he whips out his screwdriver, scanning as he reads its scrawl.]

"...I've changed..." into a pen? No offense, mate, but for a Spooky Transformation, after sirens and werewolves and humans, I've got to say that's a bit rubbish.

[He flips his screwdriver in the air, catches it and peers at it--then at the pen--then whirls about to see if he's missing something else in the room.]

......ohhh, you're-... not the pen, right, sorry, something invisible, then, orrr disembodied telekinetic force, at a guess? ...sorry, haven't got a Ouija board on hand, although if necessary, I do know where to find one.

[so this is the process. It's interesting watching it from the outside. Has he always been this flaily? He really does look like a muppet. Still it's endearing. He thinks for a moment, wondering how to approach this. Honestly he doesn't want to ruin things even if he wants to laugh and roll his eyes at the same time.

Hmm. He gathers some energy. The lights flicker and buzz. A curlicue of frost forms on the window]

[You know, those things organizations have. ...which is about as far as he's thought about it, since he hasn't really needed to think any deeper, just yet, and that's already more bureaucratic than he really cares to get if he doesn't have to.]

[Whatever sort of reaction she was used to, the Doctor's is to lean into his screen to get a more detailed view of her, eyes glancing over her features with almost childlike fascination. It's not all that often he gets to meet someone who looks so different he couldn't guess where they're from.

Well... he could guess.

...actually, he could think of a few planets where she'd blend in with hardly a snag, but obviously she wouldn't have had issues with being considered a monster there.]

Blimey, I love the scales... ...sorry, d'you mind if I ask where it is you're from?

Human? Ha, well, I s'pose I've doctored a human or two in my day, so, sure, I can be a human-doctor, but not a human, well, not actually human, come close once or twice, but that was quite enough, really. Rather a fan, though, mind you, I've known some fantastic ones.

[The Doctor peers into the screen, concerned at that shaking--although he gets distracted for a moment.]

...laying down...? ......oh, right, sleeping, yeah, it's a popular one, no, never mind that, tell me, any notable sensations? Cold, maybe?

Ohhh, look at you, blending right in, aren't we, well, by our standards, but yeah, got a feeling we'll be seeing a few people who could use a hand adapting, one way or the other.

Aye. Maybe I should do some actual advertising?? I've been investing everything in a loop to try to meet more demand, but it's no good if no one knows, yeah?

But... It's the one thing Mum was such rubbish at, and... I didn't want to do the heiress life with Pete so... I never learned it. Dad would know how, but I can't even copy his -- [Gruff voice!] "You can trust me on that," just right. I'm not giving up!! And I know I can't just cross my fingers and hope he comes, I'm just... faltering a bit, yeah?

So then what are you if you aren't human, sir? You very much look like one... though you've a much brighter smile than most.

... Cold? [ Zaveid spends good moment thinking.

He used to be pretty immune to temperature, okay, its weird. ]

Curling my fingers feels like I picked something out of the fridge? So maybe...

... I thought that was all red noses and sniffles and sneezes, though.

[That wasn't really the reaction that she was used to. In fairness, he seemed to be smiling at her in a way not many ever did. It was a nice feeling, a smile instead of a pout or a glare. And not the look of fear in his eyes.]

[She waited, pulling the camera out a little to give him a view of more than just her face. As she panned, he would see that she was blue from head to toe, with nothing covering her but the scales.]

Love them. That's a different reaction. I... I'm from Earth. I have a genetic mutation. Also... [She smiles as she shifted out of the blue persona and back into her blonde haired visage, the one she wears when she wants to pass for normal.]

[Notice the lack of cheeky reply; Ten does nod his head]

Not the first time this happened.

[Eyes glance indicatively to the ears, then the wings.]

Ah, well, yeah, easy mistake to make, I s'pose, but technically, you lot look Time Lord, we only came a few billion years earlier.

[He smiles a bit quirkily to himself like this is a point of confusion he's had to clear up more than once, before.]

Like I said, though, big fan, lovely people, humans, when you're in the mood to be, but I try not to take sides, when I don't have to.

[...which is really rarer than he'd like, but on a good day!]

Ah, sorry, don't believe I caught your name, dear.

[Oh, no, he's about a billion miles from fear. ...if anything, some people might find it a bit weird how sincerely pleased he seems over what others so often found alarming.

Wouldn't be the first time.

His eyes widened as she panned the camera downward, visibly flustered, and covered his eyes reflexively--and peeked between his own fingers, torn between being scandalized and too curious to miss out. His obvious fascination isn't the only childlike thing going on here.]

...oh! ...really! Yow...

[He pauses a tick, collecting himself; the mention of the mutation certainly catches his attention, not to mention the actual transformation, at which he brightens visibly and whistles under his breath, not even trying to conceal being impressed.]

Ohhh..! A human metamorph, brilliant, and you've got control over it? Very impressive, very rare, what century if y'don't mind my asking?

Oh! I didn't know we looked like Time Lords. I never got to meet Time, but Mr. Hatter did! You're... not going to keep me in tea time are you?

My name is Alice Liddell! A pleasure to meet you Doctor... oh, I didn't catch your name either, sir.

[She chuckles at his reaction, almost feeling normal or human because of it.]

Twentieth century. I didn't have control at first. I learned it as a child. It got easier, over time. They... They call us mutants on Earth.

[A term she really hated.]

What century are you from?

[The Doctor smiles a bit wryly at her answer.]

...ahh, mixed bag, that one, and yeah I think I heard that from someone 'round here, bit of a nonsense expression, isn't it? Mutants, I mean, yeah, 'course, who isn't, welcome to being a species.

[He eyerolls, there, like it's a conversation he's been through a few times too many, then raises his eyebrows at her question.]

Sorry, what century? Early 21st, mostly, well, lately, saw the 20th quite a bit, back in the day, also rather fond of the 51st, oh, 2000th and its neighborhood had some rough patches but was quite nice once they got back on track, honestly it's hard to choose one I'd rate above all the others...
