[Solemn nod.] There's a lot worse than death.

[Lights up a fresh pair of cigars in thought.] Are the humans without pendants able to leave? I was under the impression that they were trapped within the barriers, just as people in the archways are trapped in their worlds.

[And possibly illusionary. Hah.]

[And a quiet noise.]
I'm not considered a human in my world -- [Raises a hand again.] Not that I'm a fishman like Namur or Jinbei. I'm a monster by my own words and choices, by my strength and power making me less mortal, not by my species or race. The marines don't discriminate -- in theory. But I've seen that theory pushed to breaking point. I don't like the idea of four of the cities being for humans, and one city being for everyone else. It's stupid. Besides, Fayren might have a dragon as a guardian. Fishman Island in my world... I don't know enough of the politics to say for sure. How much is propaganda and lies, what is true. But I know the islands that didn't join the World Government were all ripe for ruin by -- warlords, criminals, and slavers. Fishman Island has extra circumstances, in that it's location is the only way for pirates to get through the second half of a tract of ocean, into the New World, it's called. It's a headache. But for here, I don't think any one city isolating itself is good for anyone. Not the city, the residents, or the other four.
