21st Automail | Video/Action in Fayren

Action; Fayren
[Winry had never done a bounty before, mostly because they involved fighting and criminals, but this seemed easy enough to do that even someone who didn't want to fight could do and do while getting the bits and pieces that she needed to make her automail she was working on.

When she had been told of the flower and gem he was looking for, she found herself not knowing were preciously she was going to find the gem. But it seemed obvious that the flowers would most likely be found somewhere in Fayren forest and Winry was pretty sure it wouldn't be an easy task to do. So with a sigh, she looked around, still unsure of if she should go up and ask anyone or maybe just use the fee instead.

But after a moment or two of thinking it over, she had made her choice. Making her way over.]

Excuse me... This might seem a little odd, but how well do you know the forest here?

[She had returned home with various bits and pieces from her little trip, which she was quick to place on her desk as Audino came on over to greet her having been given the task of looking after a certain someone along with her other Pokemon. She smiled and greeted them back before going and getting her device out. She had something on her mind and she was planning on saying something.]

So...come the 10th I will have been here for a year. it's...strange to say that and think about what has happened in that time, but I still think I have a lot more I want to do and things I want to achieve to help. I... just am not sure where to start. Like... I got my business up and running finally and I am happy about that, but I guess I am always about wanting to do more to improve myself. Like maybe see if potions that heal can be made by someone who has no magic?

[She smiled slightly. She just wasn't sure of the how to improve, even in that area.]

Though I brought up my business for a reason. I have a friend who... Is making a rather dumb choice of trying to half or well...more than half of a recovery rate for a prosthetic, but I worry about what it will do to them and also...I understand wanting to speed it up and I know healers here can do amazing things, so I was hoping that maybe a healer could come and help when I finish the prosthetic for them and are ready to put it on? I will obviously pay you for it. So just let me know if you are interested and thank you for listening to my rambling.

What sort of prosthetic? Depending on how strong the person is and if they have no aversion to Light..magic..., I might be able to help.

[She's not a huge an of calling her Gifts 'magic', but it's all the same.]

My saliva can speed healing, but I don't think I should spit on your friend...

[The person she ended up approaching was about average height, but that's where his resemblance to an 'average' person ended. He had white hair, for one, and a build that could charitably be called 'whipcord', but which was really more 'stick man'. Still, he didn't appear to be having any trouble moving around, and if the sword on his hip was any indication, he could probably handle himself out in the forest, too.

Of course, he wasn't dressed to blend in... pretty much anywhere, in a long white coat with blue accents, a black shirt, and jeans underneath.

When addressed, he turns to see who's talking, and wonders who they're talking to. Hi, person he doesn't know!]

Pretty well, I think. Why do you ask?

[ Konoka perked up when she heard, and tuned in to answer. ]

I'm a healer. You want to help someone post prosthetic?

[ She hadn't done that exact thing before, but healing narrow areas like that? It helped her with All Might before, she could use it again. ]

I am doing a bounty in the newspaper and the guy wants to find a certain type of flower which I assume would be in the forest.

[So she was planning on doing that first because it seemed the easiest thing to do.]

Yes. I can do the operations and such easily enough, but they seem determined to cut recovery to only six months when it usually takes years.

[She figured she could try and find a way to shorten the time, which would be a really good thing if it's possible.]

If it's possible for that to happen it will be good.

Glad we agree... Though yes, really. It's to help speed up any, um, marks that I make... with my teeth. And to heal myself, I can just lick my wounds.

I've been working on therapy, including some magical applications. It's what this sounds like we need, anyway.

Did he give you any kind of information beyond its colors? The terrain it favors, whether it blooms in the light or at night, or anything of the sort?

[There were lots of red and blue flowers out there. If this one has both colors in a single bloom, that might be enough to track it down with, but... more information never hurts.

Unless it comes out of the kind of book that has a name like 'Necronomicon', of course.]

I don't remember you doing that to me when I offered all that time ago. but then again... it was a while back.

Offering to lick a girl right after she donated blood to save your life is pretty strange. But when I bit you, I hope it healed quickly from the brief contact anyway. I can numb skin by licking it too, so no one has to feel a thing.

[He smiles lightly at that. It would be nice if he could get credit for more than 'trying,' though.]

I think the whole situation was strange in general, but it was something that needed to be done at the time.

[She shook her head slightly.]

I have the medicine that I got for when I first opened, but it can only do so much for after really. As for eating. I get to it when I can. At least twice a day at best.

I just know it's a flower with blue petals and red stem. I know it's in the Fayren forest, but not on the edge, but that is about it.

[Now that she thought about it, maybe she should have asked for more information. Though really she could also go back and ask those questions.]

It should hopefully be ready by next week, so I will inform you then.

Hmm...

[He takes out an old, beat-up journal, and flips through it for a moment, muttering to himself.] ...know I've seen something like that before... ah, here.

[He holds up the journal, with a sketch of what appears to be the flower in question.] I think this is what you're looking for. It has some unique properties, and I've been studying it, but I don't have any in stock - I was about to make a run to gather some herbs out there. D'you want to come with? The forest is a little dangerous, especially if you aren't prepared for it.

[Lan Fan was more than happy to see Winry return--partially because she wasn't entirely sure she liked being babysat by a... pink... whatever this thing was. Animal? Spirit? Animal spirit? Spirit animal?]

[Hearing Winry come back she moved to greet her in her own standoffish way--which consisted of her standing back in a doorway and watching her.]

[And she just kept standing there watching and listening as Winry started to talk into her device. Ways to improve? She could teach Winry some of the things she knew, though it seemed the Amestrian would already know most first aid and whatnot if she could perform surgeries. Maybe some medicinal poultices... though that was more for emergencies when you were stuck on the run...]

[And then her whole face went red and her ears burned when she realized Winry was now talking about her. a;sldkjgasdlk]

[She took a few steps out, her embarrassment tongue-tying her, which was probably for the best anyway because she wouldn't want to be recorded speaking anyway.]

Th-That isn't necessary Winry--I will do this with my own strength, you do not need to burden yourself further that you already have with me!

[He might be able to see her trying to spy on what Winry's doing... since... Winry is discussing her.]

[And no, she would prefer to not be spat on... That's actually a pretty damning insult where she's from, so...]

[It would make so much more sense for her to just check her own phone, but that would like... make too much sense.]

[You may or may not be able to catch a glimpse of the patient in question as she tries to peer over Winry's shoulder to see what she's doing and who she's talking to--because just using her own phone makes too much sense.]

[She narrows her eyes a bit. This one looks like she could be Xingese... that automatically puts her on edge--Winry are you sure about this because she isn't. She trusts you because you're vetted by the Elrics but... hnnn...]

[Of course there seem to be a lot of people here who look Xingese who have never heard of Xing... so she has to keep that in mind...]

[Here's the patient, watching over Winry's shoulder from some distance--you may or may not be able to see her, who knows! Why would she go get her own phone to monitor this? That would make too much sense!]

[ Konoka, at first, only paid cursory attention to the lurking person back there. Her conversation was largely on Winry. However, eventually she noticed just how often Lan Fan appeared on the screen, and it was obvious that the woman was attempting to size up the healer.

So when she was finished talking to Winry, she spoke up. ]

Yes, can I help you?

[[Oh actually, that was a trick Konoka used with her pactio that allowed her to patch up All Might's internal bleeding without surgery. This was back before All Might changed hands.]]

[AH CRAP SHE WAS SPOTTED--or rather she was acknowledged--]

[And she just darts out of the field of view quickly with a little 'eep'.]

[ooc; AWESOME! Thank you! XD maybe it will come up again! Bulla has sworn to bully him into trying to get fixed so it may come up at some point!]

[ Konoka blinked as she hid. Oh well, guess she was shy. She wondered why she was staring at her, but figured she didn't have enough information. Shrugging, she went about her day. ]

I also heard it was rare which could have been why he could have only said so much...

[Because if you don't know a lot, of course, you wouldn't go into deep description, right? Though when the guy produced a journal, she started to wonder if maybe he could have, she just really did not ask the right questions.]

Oh, guess it wasn't as rare as I thought. I don't think he wants it for what it can do more for a part of a proposal he was planning. [She didn't even know that, but then again it was Fayren so she wasn't 100% surprised.] I will have to since it's there, but one problem. I do not fight. Not I don't know, I choose not to.

[Winry had finished with the device, gone to put it away for the time being, checking if she got any replies a tiny bit later so she could check on the other and if she was resting like she was hoping.

Though as she heard the voice of the other he knew right away that the answer was she wasn't in bed anyway.]

It's part of my job, finding way's to help others so they don't overdo it. Plus if there is a way to do it and help with your goal it's not a bad thing, right? [She figured she was at least putting the others wants in her mind and trying to find ways to make it as such without her forcing herself.]

There are many people here who can do amazing things and might be able to make the process quicker, isn't that a good thing? I mean it would be someone you wouldn't know, but we could do a slow build up so that you do by the time I'm done with the automail.

Oh, whoa.

[That's seriously impressive.] I don't know anything about technology, but I can definitely help out with the physical parts. Absolutely not a problem at all. And if you're working with nerves... [She grimaces.] I have other gifts that can keep the pain at bay, too, I think. They would help at least.

[Oooh, Dove spots her there. Must be the person in question... She's just going to get an encouraging smile of acknowledgment. Nerve work and prosthetics are no joke!]

[Bad patient is bad--but at the least you aren't breaking up ninja fights like Dr. Knox was?]

[Her hand came up to the front of her chest, automatically trying to pull the neck of her cowl--which she of course, wasn't actually wearing up to hide her face more. Instead she simply worried the front flap of her changpao.]

Yes... I suppose so...

[There had been that man Roland she had met before she found Winry after all... And there had to be more people out there like that. This wasn't Xing--that mantra was just going to have to be on her subconscious at all times. This wasn't Xing. No one had anything to gain from her here.]

Then you must at least let me work off my debt!

[She hadn't quite gotten around to seeking regular employment yet--but she was coming up on what Dr. Knox had quoted. Four to Six weeks--just another week or two for it to be "official"--not that she was likely to actually listen to anything official...]

[Oop... she was spotted. She just kind of ducks back a bit but continues listening.]

Oh, it's pretty rare. I've only seen it twice, in the couple hundred times I've been out here. But those two times gave me a good idea where to look for it, and I have some unique abilities that should help, too.

[He considers her statement, then nods.] I can handle the fighting, if any is necessary. It's better to avoid conflict if possible, though - some of the creatures out there are pretty much unique, and I don't want to be the one responsible for an extinction event. [...Ironic, considering who he's the reincarnation of, but she probably doesn't know that.]

Yeah, the pain is probably the worst part of it really.

[Because it could last past the operation itself and possibly for the future based on the weather anyway.]

But anything that could help would be of use.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to make any animals extinct either. Though if anyone does get hurt, I guess I could try and help.

[Not that she would know how to take care of animals, but she figured if it was to happen she would at least try. But for the moment she walks.]

Let's just hope that it doesn't happen though and that things go smoothly and that the flowers are actually there.

[She shook her head slightly before going to do work on her automail a bit, she knew that she had at least another week of work left to go to get it perfect and today was another day in which to do that.]

Not until recovery is a thing. That is my final say on paying back.

[She headed to her room, which had been partly converted into her workplace while her workplace at her business was still being sorted.]

I also need you to check out what I've done so far and tell me if I need to make improvements.

We should be fine. I've got my supplies already - is there anything you need to pick up?

[He doesn't seem to be carrying anything other than that sword and the journal, but Winry should know that appearances can be outright lies, especially here.]

[She just has a basket and a wrench inside. She just felt comfortable having that with her while in Fayren.]

I'm Winry. Winry Rockbell. it's nice to be formally introduced, sorry for not saying before.

A pleasure to work with you, Winry. Do you know how to ride a horse, or would you prefer to go on foot? We may have to travel a bit to find the flower you're looking for.

[He gestures toward a nearby stable.] If you don't know how, I can teach you on the way. It isn't as hard as you might think.

I've never ridden a horse before, but I am always willing to learn something new. I'd be fine going on foot also, but if it's a long way that might get tiring.

[Plus she figured she might as well give something new a go while she is here. If she learned she could show friends later if they were to ever appear again which at this rate she was starting to think that might not be.]

But whatever you think will be quicker might be the best idea.

[She just stammered in response to that. It was so much easier being steadfast on these things when it was for the young master. For her? That was a whole different story considering she was a servant. She wasn't important enough to have things to be steadfast for.]

[She wasn't as good of a moocher as the young master was, unfortunately. With the exception of food. She would mooch food forever.]

[With that subject change she moved to follow Winry to see said progress.]

[Winry made sure to move stuff around to at least attempt to make things tidier and so the other can go through. Once she took her seat she pulled out the automail. It was obvious there was still a good amount of work to go, but she was making progress with all the other work she had to do.]

This is what I have done so far. Hopefully, this is okay. I mean you can see where the blade will go here but that will be covered up when I get to that part.

[The truth was that Lan Fan didn't entirely know what to look for--but she saw the inner workings of the limb that would make her whole again. That was more than she could actually ask for.]

It is amazing that you are able to do this...

It helps people. Makes them feel whole again when they might not have been before. So really this is the least I could do. I could probably have done a lot more, but I am still always learning to improve.

[She seemed happy enough before to place it down on the table.]
