∞ 1st thesis - action/video ∞

[ Despite the pamphlet's best efforts to explain the videophone to him, William just can't quite wrap his head around this piece of technology. Moving pictures on a phone...? With bright, vivid colors?? Not attached to a wall??? As a young man from the early 20th century, he can't help but be in awe.

Even so, in light of his current...relocation, there's no telling if this device -- any of this, really -- can be taken at face value. When his attempts at calling out names of the usual guilty demons fail and a walk around and out of the Bay yields none of the typical signs of ~*magical interference*~ he approaches at one conclusion: ]

--A dream.

[ And that just leaves waking up! As he pinches and slaps himself, he moves the videophone around erratically.

He didn't realize it earlier, but he had apparently pressed the right buttons to start broadcasting, so... hope nobody is motion sick because this video feed is aaaall over the place. ]

Ow ow...!! Ugh...this is one persistent dream...

[Fai appears on the other end of the feed looking overly amused. Some peoples reactions to being in another world is just priceless.]

[ He almost drops everything when he hears a voice. There's a person inside this phone! That's the definition of dreaming! ]

I may be real, but as far as you are concerned, the evidence is quite the contrary!

[ Huh? A girl's voice? He glances at the screen but it's...it's someone...wearing a pony costume?

Well. . . then obviously this is just a -- what's it called? Movie? Yes, that explains why she's in this little screen here. He tilts his head. ]

How is the quality of this picture so high in such a small frame? And where is the image coming from?

[ He looks behind and around him. Doesn't seem to be any lights or projectors around... ]

[ "Nightmare"? That would explain why it's so difficult for him to wake out of it. He isn't quite up to speed with this technology yet, so he doesn't even realize he should be sending a reply.

He sighs, fed up with trying to pinch himself awake. If what the pamphlet told him was true, then he'd soon walk into the city. Maybe someone there will have answers. The feed continues, his face only occasionally coming into focus as he walks while holding the videophone. ]

What a hassle. If it's not one thing, it's another keeping me from my studies.

It's completely a dream. You should try jumping off of a swingset at the park to try to wake yourself up next. I'll be over there to guide you through the dream if that doesn't work, so make sure you don't do it until I'm there with a video camera.

[Considering he currently works really nearby he is starting to walk towards the Bay. it won't take him more than five minutes but until then he'll talk.]

I'm talking on what would be considered a form of communication.

[ He read that this device served that kind of purpose. So maybe he'd pressed something earlier and that's why this was happening. ]

How is this working? I've never seen anything like this before.

[ Yeah, he's not following Mayu on that explanation, but one thing's become clearer now: this is a person sending these messages! ]

[ Says the guy who just pinched himself on video. He stares at the screen quizzically. A girl...? ]

[ William looks incredulously at the videophone screen. He rubs his cheek, but avoids the question. He's a little embarrassed to admit it. ]

That's not the issue here.

[ Then, as if suddenly aware he's talking to some kind of device, he adds with a sigh: ]

Honestly, am I just not getting enough sleep these days...?

[Okay those were not questions she was expecting to have to answer, mostly because she had little to no idea about how this thing worked or anything.]

Well, um... I don't know much about this device thing, but... [She is getting nervous again. Shaking her head slightly she tries to gain some confidence.]

I'm sure someone would know more about it than me.

[He gives a small shrug].]

I cant say I know. maybe its magic or maybe it's something else that gets it working. I never figured to ask. [Or he knows and just doesn't want to say.]

Its quite useful, don't you think?

I'm not a thing, I'm a woman. A woman who really thought it'd be funny to watch you fall flat on your face so I could upload it to the network and everyone could share a good laugh.

Another person recently brought into this illogical situation.

[ He frowns. It doesn't seem like the kind of magic he's thinking of, but... It does look promising. ]

So as long as I have this, I can talk to other people. And you're also in possession of one of these, --?

[ A pause as he expects the other to offer a name. ]

You can hear me?

[ He blinks. She responded! He was kind of not expecting that. So his thinking that this was some one-sided video was wrong. Then, the most pressing matter is... ]

Your costume. Then this is a play?

[ Because why else would he be talking to a pony ]

[ The video trips him up a bit. Well, he looks totally normal. Foreign, but not particularly supernatural. ]

So we've been brought here, then?

[ This isn't new for William, but normally by now some demon would have shown up and tried to drag him into a bunch of nonsense. ]

My name is William Twining. Excuse me, but unless you can tell me something to make sense of this letter, I should be on my way.

[ The words 'no escape' apparently aren't acceptable in his book. ]

[ Upload? Network? The only thing he understands is she's making fun of him. ]

I don't have time for a little girl's mischief. If this is a dream, I'll find my own way to leave it.

[Mayu nods at what William confirms. There's nothing supernatural about him at all.]

How?

[ He's asking how William expects to 'be on his way', and where he intends to go. It's easier to just go along with the weirdness and follow the convenient pamphlet.]

[ 'How' he says... William can't admit that he has no idea. ]

There may be clues that show the exit. I'll just have to look for them.

Yes, I can. It's like writing to one another except it arrives the same time you send it.

[That's how she saw it anyway. But at being asked if this was a play and about a costume she pauses, she had no idea what he was on about.]
