There's been a lot of talk lately about Heroes and villains, and the labels that society puts on us and blah bla blah-de-blah. Not saying those conversations aren't worth having, but I'm not gonna lie, I kinda hate those conversations.

However, because of my position of Guardian, I figured I should probably weigh in on the whole thing. I'm no hero. I'm not a villain. I'm the demon next door. So long as you stay in your lane and don't start shit in Attleton, we're cool. But kick up a ruckus in my back yard, and I don't care who you are or why, I will put you in the dirt.

[Dante groans as he tosses his phone across his desk, propping his feet up on said desk, and casting a glance at Toshinori who he'd been put in charge of protecting for the time being.]

Sorry 'bout that. It felt warranted, given everything. I stand by it though. Never really been a fan of heroes really.

It's unfortunate that so much attention is focused on labels rather than actions. [He sighs, rubbing at the back of his head] It just creates a divide to be exploited.

So what is a 'hero' to you then?

[Since, you know, to him and everyone else from his world a 'Hero' is a super powered firefighter or policeman--and no one seems to get that.]

Which title? Guardian or demon? Either way I'm not really fond of titles in the first place.

Nothing really to worry about. Some big bad from another world showed up, people panicked, and caused a Guardian Huddle.

Nothing we can't deal with.

[Dante stretched, leaning the chair back onto its back legs.]

My world doesn't really have heroes. Only one that the world really knew about, and one that nobody but a couple people knew about. Both of 'em are dead.

These days they're more martyrs than heroes, and martyrs don't really help people and are easily twisted postmortem to fit whatever cause someone wants them to.

The demon next door with a nasty attitude.

[She shrugs noncommittally.]

There's been a pretty big thing lately about the title "hero." I'm not about to start shit, but I know what its like to be on the watch for things coming at you with spears. All I really want is to be be left alone, and if you're cool with making sure that happens then I will be more than happy to say good fucking job.

I'm rather well acquainted with the feeling as well, unfortunately. Even as a demon hunter, if a demon is minding its own business and not bothering anyone, I reserve the right to tell my employer to bugger off.

Pretty much. And honestly, given what I know of this guy, you're the only one here that I'd really trust getting involved.

[Dante swaps over to a private feed.]

Big thing is that this guy can steal people's powers, which has got some people understandably scared. However, pretty sure he wouldn't be able to do jack to our durability. Demon powers seem to be something alien enough to his world to be incompatible for the most part.

You forgot itchy trigger finger.

Yeah, my old man kinda screwed over a Demon Emperor as he was marching his army into the human world and then vanished after some time. The guys he sent for revenge couldn't find him, and had to settle with his wife and kids.

[He says it fairly nonchalantly considering the weight of what he just said.]

You really don't want to start trouble in Attleton just now. I'm actively looking for reasons to bust out my toys.

...wow, that was breaking like at least a half-dozen rules.

Yeah, from my experience, demons aren't really that keen on rules.

[Shrug.]

...yeah, true. Though the big man upstairs would have a few things to say about stuff like that.

What does being half a demon mean? Are you half good and half evil?
