[Mod Event Start] Portal To Somewhere
Who: Everyone
When: May 3rd - May 12th
What: Exploration, creature fighting, whatever you want.
Warnings: Potential violence.
Following the loud boom heard around Genessia City and the tremors felt through all of Genessia, a portal has appeared. You'll find it located near the bay.
As you step through the portal, you feel a rush of coldness overtake your body that lasts only a few moments. The entire transportation process from where you were to here lasts as long as the cold feeling. As you exit to this side of the portal, you feel the hot, humidness of the desert overtake you now. You stand in the center of a destroyed town. Some of the buildings seem like they may have succumbed to the wear and tear of time, while others appear to have had a helping hand in becoming a wreck.
All is quiet except for the creaking of the certain structures as the window blows through town. While no immediate danger seems to be presenting itself to you as you stand there, anyone might feel uneasy standing in this place. Almost like they might be attacked at any moment.
Welcome to Catan’s Settle.

After all, as far as she was aware there weren't a lot of healers around at the moment, so it gave her the chance to do what she did best. But instead, she had found herself many a time spotted by monsters and having to run away toward where she would hope was a safe area.
Soon sighing with relief over them not following her, she held her bag and looked around. The lake seemed nice and so peaceful that she couldn't help but simply close her eyes and take it it briefly, now paying all that much attention to her surroundings.]
Ethereal Crack In The Mines
[ooc: Only the holders of the event related items may approach it in relative safety.]
Re: Ethereal Crack In The Mines
More importantly - what happens when they're brought together?
Though he does have to say - see the paradox items - his gut doesn't like seeing those anymore than his gut enjoyed seeing Captain Jack as a fixed point.
But then he's a being of time so to speak and time doesn't like fixed points or paradoxes.
"Is this what you want?"
He has a feeling that is what the crack needs and tosses the right boot and right star into the hole.

The cracks own light pulsates a few, but stops after a moment and appears as if nothing had just happened to it. It's not ready just yet.
Re: Ethereal Crack In The Mines
However, he begins to wonder about the rift itself. Why is he drawn towards it? Maybe it has something to do with the item they found from their previous expeditions? Curious, he turns to Kukui.]
Professor Kukui, do you still have that Cowboy Hat with you? I don't know why, but I think there's some connection between it and this rift.
Day 3 (May 5) evening
Here it is in all it's run down glory, babe. Wanna go check it out?
Re: Day 3 (May 5) evening
Rip kept a tight grip on his hand as she stayed close to him, curious to see what he wanted to show her..And then she saw the hunter's shop and grinned, her entire body language going from cautious to excited in seconds as she looked up at him.]
Definitely~! Vho knows, zhere might be some hidden treasures in zhat shop.
[Admittedly, her idea of 'treasure' was vastly different than everyone elses...]
Day 2 (May 4) Early Evening
I'unno that this thing's fit t' raise dead air, let 'lone us later. Shoulda had me grab some new rope. Think this shit's seen it's last light, sweetheart, an' y' know I ain't big on lettin' shit go t' waste.
Day 8 (May 10) Evening
Not that that's a bad thing. At least the company is nice.
He meanders down the deserted road, heading outside of town, fingers lightly entwined with Rowan's as the desert sky puts on a spectacular light show, sweltering yellows and reds fading to orange and pink as their shadows elongate on the dusty trail behind them.]
Town wouldn't be half bad if somebody'd call an exterminator, eh?
no subject
Why the hell y' think I brought a bigass bag? Sheheheh!
[He elbows the door open. It's clear others have been through the shop before, but a good many things have been left undisturbed. Namur puts his phone on flashlight mode and shines it around.]
Most a this shit's in pretty rough shape, though. Think there's more rust than metal...

[Rowan chuckles, giving his hand a playful tug before sparing another quick sweep of their immediate surroundings. A few more of the monsters are lurking somewhere not too far away, but until the wind changes, she can't tell anything more specific than that. Not that the things pose much of a concern for her and Namur, but it's still good to be aware of these things.]
Honestly, the whole place sort of reminds me of some of the old movies from where I'm from. They were quite popular, a few decades before I was made... I always thought that kind of living could be sort of fun. A little lawless, maybe, but... Well.
[She grins, having the decency to at least try and look sheepish.]
Clearly, that's not necessarily as much of a deterrent for me as it might be for some people.

Rip takes a moment to look around, scanning the interior and just how bad of shape things really are beyond the flashlight.]
Hm, maybe. But, I zhink some of zhis stuff can be restored. It vill just take a vhile.
[Aand she's off to explore and sift through everything. Several minutes later, she had a small pile started near him. The items were not in the greatest shape at first glance. The first thing in the pile was a bear trap, quickly followed by three skinning knives and a hatchet.
Sometime later a small 22 caliber riffle joined the pile.. along with a lever action riffle. Both of which looked rusted from disrepair....]

Looks like some bloke I know's teeth. The hell's this thing for?
no subject
[He waggles his eyebrows and tries not to blush too much, though Rowan ought to know by now that it's a very lost cause.]
So what'd y' think'd be so fun 'bout it?
no subject
It's a bear trap. Zhe plate in zhe middle is a pressure plate. You open zhe jaws, place it on zhe ground und hide it. Vhen somezhing steps on zhe plate, it snaps shut und mangles vatever leg or ozher body part is in it.
Most of zhe time zhey are chained to zhe ground und hunters use zhem for trapping larger prey, like bears. Zhat one looks like it needs to haf zhe rust removed und oiled. I can probably resell it zomevhere.

[Rowan answers his "drift" with a dry smirk, cocking one brow as if trying to play the typical jealous female. The pretense is given up quickly, though, when she has to think about her answer to his question.]
I don't know, really... Something about it all just seems sort of cosmopolitan to me. There always seemed like a degree of freedom to life in those movies that people don't really have, these days.
[Pausing for a moment, she shrugs before offering up a grin.]
Not to mention everybody looks good in costume, of course.
