Good evening, everyone. I'm Ted, running for Everglade Guardian. I'll be swift and tell you why, and what you're in for with me. There are three goals I'm after.

Entertainment. As one acquaintance confided in me, the candidates last election were terribly boring. As Kierkegaard said, boredom is the root of all evil, and we can't have that, can we? This boredom was allegedly so severe that he left off voting entirely. Impressive when you consider that your devices will hound you all, loudly and relentlessly for a week should you refuse to participate. Suppose he had to do without. Well, there's no worries with me. I'm nothing if not newsworthy, and I know how to generate a headline or two.

The second is reward. Perhaps some are uninspired to partake of democracy's fruits for want of sweetness. For that I offer this remedy: a story. One unique to this place, singly entrusted to Genessia's muse, and passed on to myself. I warn you it is an extremely troubling story; as significant as it is dangerous. Such things aren't hidden without reason. If you trust me with the position, I shall entrust you with this heretofore veiled tale.

Lastly, and most importantly, is the prevention or cessation of the Guardians' possible atrocity. There is a high likelihood that they're behind perhaps the worst sin since Genessia began, and I'd like to end that as peacefully as possible. Being a fellow Guardian grants me the smoothest path that way.

Doubtless you'll think me unforgivably coy and cagey for not saying more about the nature of this hypothetical wrongdoing. I'm afraid there's nothing for it; more clarity might mean a more entrenched problem, and solving it is rather more important to me than being wholly transparent. Don't worry; when and if I get to that dreadful point, you'll know all then.

There you have it. Entertainment, reward, and my intention of putting a stop to the vilest evil in the world I know. If, indeed, it exists. Happily it may not, but better safe than sorry, eh? If you have any interesting questions, pray save them for the debate tomorrow. As I said, it has suffered from dullness in the past. Boring questions now, however, are welcome.

You are putting forth some mysteries in your campaign. Intriguing.

I would like to know more about this vile evil.

[He thinks if it is a Guardian secret, he may not yet know about it since he's only been a deputy and temporary Guardian. Perhaps when he is official, he may know more.]

[His time being here along with some actual physical readjustments to his brain - which had been tampered with when he'd become a cyborg - had helped greatly in his more reasonable approach to things now. It didn't mean, though, that he couldn't be highly aggressive when provoked. He just hadn't had to deal with any real enemies for a while.]

Then I look forward to your information, when the time comes.

[Cagey? Coy? More like a little suspicious.] It's hard to trust a secretive candidate. [Or any at all, Rosinante is not one who who trusts easily in general.]

It's not like hiding here is going to benefit me. I don't need to protect my identity anymore. I still prefer texting. It's easier for me. But some times it's better to actually speak.

[Rosinante doesn't find his explanation appealing. It sounds like paranoia, vigilantism, things that mean very little good in the long run. While he knows the importance of weeding out corruption where it stands, this sounds like a one man vendetta rather than anything substantial. Especially with the secretive behavior.

But his expressions shows nothing of it. He's a trained Marine, a talented actor, and someone who was able to keep his cool undercover. He just seems calm, like he's listening in interest.]

Have many come to you with their doubts?

Good.

[The problem is that without a sort of evidence or something to go on, he can't place any faith in this sort of thing. Rosinante is a reasonable man, and that means trying to look at the facts. And here, they're just not present.] Good luck with your campaign.

Very well. I will make time available when you return.

You will tell me all that you know of this evil and then we will conquer it.

[He's confident.]
