[Video] Make a Wish

[Her wings are tucked away and hidden, but that camera is perfectly poised as always, despite the hustle and bustle of the set behind her. She might be at a shoot, but her ~~scheduling agent~~ curiosity is bugging her.]

A question for you all:

If your birthday was coming up and you had access to ....almost everything you ever wanted... what would you treat yourself to? Would you throw yourself a party or just spend the day enjoying yourself?

[A pause, and an almost amused frown at a thought.] Is anyone else out there immortal to the point where birthdays no longer matter?

[He feels like that last question might have been pointed directly at him and he looks almost as if he's amused on the other side of that frown of his.]

If you wanted to know you could have just asked.

[She blinks, entirely confused.] Isn't that what I'm doing?

[Her cheeks flush a bit when she realizes she has no idea when his birthday even is.]

...when is your birthday?

June 23rd. I don't really celebrate it.

[He's serious.]

[She just stares at him a long moment.

...then laughs.]

No it's not.

[He's got to be teasing, right?]

[He just gives her a look.]

You asked.

[She studies him a moment, then settles back into a chair, mind stirring.]

Well then. [A dramatic sigh, if only to mask the small grin...and slight panic.] I...guess I'll just have to get creative. Doesn't really give me a lot of time, you know.

[Teasing, but...still tentative. She's well aware that his past isn't exactly... happy, despite the lack of details.]

You really don't have to do anything for my birthday.

[It's not like many have celebrated his birth anyway.]

[She raises a brow. As if any man could expect her to just do anything.]

No. But I'm going to.

[There's a bright gleam in her eye, even if she is still whirling through ideas.]

We'll just have to celebrate all weekend, then. [A small laugh.] Maybe my agent will get off my back if I tell her I'm too busy planning your 'party' instead.

Please don't.

[He really doesn't want a party, Dove.]

[She softens a little.]

You know I wouldn't do that to you.

[Seriously. She wouldn't force him into that or... anything.]

Buuuut... I can still get you a present, right? And maybe dinner?

[Amusement and pure hope, full force.]

[He sighs. He has a feeling she won't really budge on it anyway.]

We can dine together if your that intent on doing something, but know that I don't usually celebrate. It's not a fond day in my memory, Dove.

[...She softens another step.]

Then... we'll have to make new memories.

[Dangerous ground, but... If nothing else, she's learned that much from her time in Genessia. This place in itself was a gift.]

Besides... [An attempt to lighten the mood.] It's either that, or my agent is throwing a party for me, and I'm not really feeling an over-the-top birthday party right now either, especially if one of my favorite people won't come.

Not necessarily throw a party, but... spend the day with your loved ones. You might be immortal, but are they? If they're not, it's good to spend time with them while you can.

[With that said....]

So you're really immortal?

[She smiles softly, even if there is sadness in that truth.] That's true... definitely more along the lines of what I had in mind to begin with.

[At that, she tips her head side to side.]

Ahh... sort of? My kind are.... very hard to keep down permanently.

That's what I was about to ask, actually. What kind of immortality it was.

What is "your kind", then? If it's okay for me to ask about this sort of thing.

[Eh, old wounds there. More embarassing ones, really.]

I would treat myself somewhere quiet, or keep my company small and just spend the day with them.

Though I am back to "normal," I don't really want to make a big deal out of birthdays anymore.

Not immortal, but this was an actual question I asked myself near my birthday.

[Though to be fair all she kind of wanted to do was just be with the people she cared about.]

Personally I think I discovered I am a person who rather just celebrate with those close to me.

The important part of a birthdate is that you're happy you were born. As long as you're still happy for that, you should celebrate.

I hate to admit that I may be in the category of 'too old to care', I believe. However, that does not stop the yearly celebration.

Personally, I would rather a quiet night at home with a book and someone I care about.

[She waves a hand; it's no biggy.]

Angel. We don't... technically 'live' forever, but it's long enough that it might as well be.

[A gentle smile.] That seems to be the most popular suggestion today. I wonder if some of us being worlds apart from family is the reason behind it...

Back to normal? [She seems so... young. Then again, Dove has only ever met her once, and not long enough to know much about her.]

[A grin.] I should start keeping tally. That seems to be the most popular answer.

Is that what you did for your birthday? Just a small dinner or outing or something?

[She snorts, much to the chagrin of her agent nearby.] Honestly, I think this is the first year in a long time that I've actually looked forward to it...

But what would you do? I'll admit my friend pool is a bit... diverse.

[Oh, she's curious about that 'yearly celebration' for sure, but something else definitely catches her attention.

Like the others, he's favoring a quiet night with loved ones, but...]

Jenny is a hard woman to figure out.

[The disappointment in her voice is obvious. Not that she's doing much better.]

[The last time they met, Anastasia may have been just a girl. Now she should look more grown-up now, at least in her mid to late teens. Thank you, dream docks.]

It's a long story... Let's just say desperate times called for desperate measures. But anyway, that may be the case for some, yeah. But I'm sure everyone has their own individual reason.

[She nodded slightly.]

That was basically it, yes. Nothing too fancy. But it was nice.

I wouldn't be celebrating!

But this isn't about me. A diverse friend pool is reflective of a diverse personality, hm? Invite them all somewhere you like.

Huh.... You're the first angel I've met, as far as I know. [He's not going to ask where her wings are or comment on her appearance or anything like that, because "entertaining angels unawares" and all that; why shouldn't angels look like regular humans?]

...Unless you count the rabbit-man-thing, which I don't.

Ah! Well... I hope I'm living up to any standard you might have previously imagined, [she laughed, tucking back her hair with a wink.] We blend in...fairly well, most of the time. [It certainly helps with guardian-hood.]

'Rabbit-man' thing? [Aaaand she's lost.]

[Chuckling:] No disappointment here, don't worry.

Mm-hmm, one of the first creations of the "God of Gods", supposedly. Calls himself the Conductor. I don't suppose you've met?

[She's definitely amused by the idea.] I'm afraid not. Sounds more like a fairytale, but then again, I suppose anything goes here, right?

A lot of things from that world were like a fairy tale, so I suppose it's consistent at least.
