The void is... well, the Void. It's nothingness. A place where nothing can exist for any length of time but the twisted creatures it itself spawns - what we call voidsent. A rift opened into it without the proper seals will suck in anything in its vicinity, until it either runs out of power or is dispelled. As for the auracite... I don't know. It was fashioned as a weapon to be used against Ascians, not for this, and I don't know the secrets of its manufacture.
