You know, if you'd told me two years ago that this is what I would look like on my 50th birthday... well, I wouldn't have laughed at you, but I certainly wouldn't have believed you.
[He chuckles, but there's an undercurrent of sad nostalgia to it. He always thought he'd have his family around for such a big milestone.]
That also means I've been here for a year now. Somehow, it feels a lot longer.
