Third Puzzle | Teanie Teas! | Action/Video

[The video feed turns on to show a small shop. There are neat tables lined up with chairs, as well as a slightly lower-than-average counter top. The shelves are packed with small tins, all marked with neat hand-written labels. Each table holds a small sugar bowl, a small container for milk, and a host of mismatched though still neat looking china.

A moment later, and Luke appears. The little puzzler looks a bit tired, but excited nonetheless.]

Teanie Teas is open!

[Luke takes the camera to the front door, to show the store's sign. He's proud of his work--work that's taken the bulk of his time over the last few weeks.]

I've got loose tea that you can take home, and there's tables for you as well so I can brew you a nice cup of tea and you can have it here.

I'm still trying to work out how you'll get puzzles, too. For now, when you buy a cup of tea, I can give you a puzzle to solve as well!

I do hope you've given my offer some consideration, Luke.

['Offer', which was more like a comment made while they sat nursing mugs of hot cocoa one cold night, after Maka had brought him back to the apartment.]

Mmhm!

[Luke smiles, pointing to the shelves.]

You're much taller so you can reach the top shelves without the step ladder!

I'm not sure I can pay right away though. That's what a shop owner does, I know..but I've only just opened.

[Following the direction of Luke's finger, Kid's usually somber expression shatters into a delighted smile.]

That's quite alright. If we provide a safe and comfortable sanctuary for those like us, I'm sure they'll be happy to give you enough to live on.

[As for Kid, well.

He's not used to being independently wealthy and would like to do his part, even if he can easily subsist on salad and little else. Hopefully, Luke doesn't mind if he's over there organizing the shelves while they're talking!]

[Luke was happy to watch Kid rearrange the shelves, until his smile falters.]

Um...if you're going to move those around, the different colors have to be grouped together 'cause they are arranged by type of tea...the more bitter teas are green and the sweet teas are blue and the spicy teas are red.

[Hint: Keep his tea in proper order, Kid. You might be the symmetrophile of the two, but Luke spent a lot of time making sure his tea was all presented in proper order--and he won't have any issue telling you.]

I wanted to make sure it was easy to understand. Lots of people here don't know anything about proper tea.

[Giving pause to his efforts, Kid glances between the young proprietor and his work, visibly torn about this.]

What about if I made the left a mirror image of the right, and had the middle occupied by the sweet teas, the outer edges with bitter, and the spaces between both spicy?

[It's still technically organized by type!]

After all, if someone's standing on the left side of the counter, wouldn't it be unfair to have them stray too far to see all of your wares?!

[This makes perfect sense to him.]

Ted wanted to be the first, but a dire dilemma stood in his valiant way.

"What's the address?"

But they aren't all the same sort of tea.

[He really wants to be nice to Kid. Really, really. But though he knows Kid likes things organized nobody's told him that his goal is for things to be symmetrical. To Luke's detail oriented eyes, Kid's suggestion makes no sense.]

Were they not okay before?

[Luke is standing next to Kid now, looking up at the shelf with a little frown.]

It's on the corner of Thistle and 9th Street in Genessia.

[Luke isn't rightly sure where Ted lives, but he'd be happy for someone to stop by. ]

What's the address? I can bring the harshest tea critic in Genessia to your front door to make sure everything's perfect.

And he's off. Nothing would get in his way of being the first one there, to experience the novelty firsthand.

A bell jingles as the door parts, showing a heavily panting blonde. "Was I...the first...one here?" Huff puff.

Puzzles you say?

[Ozpin grins and takes a sip of his coffee.]

It is definitely refreshing to see a shop like your own that provides mental stimulation along with your products. I only have one question. Do you serve coffee?

Luke is standing rather precariously on a step ladder when Ted arrives, moving a canister from one portion of the shelf to another.

"Hi Mr. Ted!"

Climbing down, he smiles. "Kid came by, but he's going to work here. So, you're my first customer!"

Thistle and 9th!

I'm sure my tea will be perfect, Miss Weiss!

Mmhm--puzzles! People don't do them as myth her but at home everyone gives each other lanes all the time. I thought I'd bring that part of home here!

[Luke blinks, tilting his head.]

I don't know how to make coffee.

I'll be bringing Zuko to come taste it then. He's the pickiest person I've ever met when it comes to tea. If you can impress him, I'm sure you can impress anyone.

Ah, so you opened a tea shop. It looks pretty cute.

[She wished that she drank tea, but she didn't.]

I hope that it goes well.

Tea and a puzzle? That actually sounds kind of interesting. But then again, I'm not very good at puzzles.

[She wasn't the most smartest person ever and that was kind of annoying.]

He smiled, a faint one, for he was nearly about to faint himself. "Thank you; I'm glad to hear it." Ted really needed to stop winning these races so often; he had to leave some to the others, shouldn't he?

Another breath. "Well, then I'll have to do what all customers do and purchase something." Ted thought about what would be the most unique. Probably something Luke made himself. "Make me a...oh, surprise me!"

A fascinating quirk of your culture to be sure.

[He grins a bit.]

I'd be more than happy to teach you. It's as simple as making tea, really. The true art of coffee comes from the blend of beans used to brew the drink, much like tea.

Luke hmms to himself and skitters behind the counter. Climbing onto a step ladder, he takes down a small canister of tea leaves and turns to the kettle.

A few moments later, he's back, carefully balancing a tea cup. "My favorite tea is Oasis Berry, but the Professor says it's a bit sweet for his taste, so I thought you might like Belle Classic. It's a bit like a traditional Earl Grey, but it's a bit more tart."

He gently places the cup on the table in front of Ted. "There's sugar and milk on the table too. I hope you like it. There's other blends as well but you didn't say what you liked so I thought I'd choose something more simple!"

I'm positive I can!

[Luke smiles.] It's odd. Not many people seem fond of them here.

[At the prospect of coffee..]

I suppose I could learn, but I don't have a coffee pot. I've plenty of tea kettles, though I'm not sure you can use them for coffee...

[Don't worry, Luke will give her free tea till he can convert her.]

I'll make you a cup for free if you'd like! I've managed to make my favorite from home, Oasis Berry--it's nice and sweet.

I can give you a nice and easy one, if you'd like!

Do you do both iced and hot teas? What about snacks?
