NEWSPAPER - SUNDAY EDITION (actually not coming out on Sunday ICly)

[ Did you subscribe to The Genessia Tribune? Did you even remotely wish you had a newspaper or some other form of media to refer to for news, weather, and current events? Then you're in luck! There's a paperboy riding through the streets of Genessia flinging newspapers onto doorsteps or, if you're unlucky, through your window. Even remote locations in the other cities will still get a paper if one of the residents ever wanted one. The Paperboy is just that dedicated. ]

[ And if you're one of the following people, and you happen to subscribe to the newspaper, the Paperboy may or may not have flung the newspaper through that person's window, at the person, and/or broke something in the area: Elsa of Arendell, Rapunzel, Satsuki Kiryuin, Zuko, Franken Stein, Irvine Kinneas, Arietta the Wild. ]

Strange Lights
A strange occurrence took place at midnight on Monday, February 23rd. Various Nova City residents reported witnessing a strange aurora borealis-like effect reverberate across the sky and near the city limits. The phenomenon is reported to have lasted for about ten minutes. There appears to be no explanation for these strange lights as of yet. We will keep you updated if we find out more.

Festival of Chocolate
Many people may notice with the recently apprehended Candy Man gone from Attleton, the tone about candy seems to have changed! In celebration of the town's new freedom to eat candy without fear of their children getting sick, Attleton has decided to host its first annual Festival of Chocolate. An entire street will be blocked off for chocolate tasting from various vendors, a homemade chocolate contest, chocolate pie eating contests, a chocolate art sculpture exhibit, culinary demos by top Attleton Chefs, and more. Sponsorship spots are still open for advertising your business or setting up your own chocolate-related booth at the festival. The Attleton Festival of Chocolate is set to take place on Sunday, March 8th.

Ted Talksing
Dear Ted,
Recently my girlfriend started getting on my case about how I’m not spontaneous enough for her. She’s all like “I do romantic things for you all the time! Surprise foot rubs, dinner, that other thing…I even buy gifts for your extended relative’s birthdays! Why can’t you be more considerate?”
But I like things the way they are! I mean, I’m not selfish. When she asks for me to take out the garbage or something, I do that. I thought we had a pretty good thing going, here! What gives; should I go out of my way to make things more romantic?
---Concerned Boyfriend
Ah, Valentines! Spurring lovers into action, which just as well might mean spurring them into argument. Take comfort in the fact that a quarreling partner is worlds better than an indifferent one.

For your surface question, I would say no, don’t change a thing, if only to stave off woman’s natural inclination to change, and change forever and ever. If you did not do these things when you first started, it’s doubtful these will increase your eros now.

The reason underlying this is more interesting, however. For you see, women and men conduct charity differently. Your girlfriend, in this case, is a perfect example. For her, charity is convex. She is always doing things. Surprises, cooking, even asking how one’s day went. Few asked for, which for her likely makes them all the sweeter.

Men are a different animal, obviously. For we know what it is to be irritated. Doubtless you appreciate your lover’s advances, but every so often I bet she intrudes upon your “man cave”, or perhaps wastes a bit of money in getting your relatives something they never dreamed of wanting. Well that place of masculine solitude is named, for men’s charity is concave. We understand how life so rarely leaves one time to think, or be, always poking and prodding. I've been known to do the latter myself! Thus, we stop ourselves from giving trouble. Every request is met with the introspection: “Do I need this? Dare I disturb their serenity”? We will not spurn love with the wastefulness of the unrequited; for we are the more romantic sex, and see love as too precious.

You see the difficulty. It is easy to criticize manly love as being barren, and selfish. It is much harder to see that overflowing, busy love of the woman as something like a busybody! Even the most heartless of men will find it difficult to answer “How are you?” with an honest “I was better, before you asked.”

Thus, the eternal peril of the lovers’ dance: so far from bringing out the best of both, it may cause either to see the others virtues as a vice. Take care not to scorn each others' charity, for they are both complementary and holy. But perhaps, every now and again, you might mimic her. Not, you see, in a fit of acquiescence, but in surprise. When it comes to virtue, the sexes have much to learn from each other.

Bounties

Genessia:
Frigus Fultus: Someone has been going around turning the refrigerators and freezers down to the point that various businesses have had their food ruined from extremely quick frostbite. It's unknown how the culprit or culprits are breaking into restaurants and ruining their supplies, but something needs to be done quick! The Genessian Restaurant Association is offering 2,500 red bills to the first person to catch this icy jerk!

Attleton
There is no bounty for Attleton this week.

Everglade
Who You Gonna Call?: Not the Ghostbusters. Why? Because these ghosts are dressed up like ghostbusters! Apparently they died during a Halloween party 10 years ago and have recently started busting other resident ghosts in the area who have been minding their business and haunting their own places! It's a dangerous time to be a ghost right now, so some of Everglade's paranormal residents have offered up a bounty of 1,500 red bills to take care of these ne'er-dead-wells!

Fayren
Fair Lady Shanksalot: The nickname seemed to have stuck after a local tavern owner started rambling about Sir Shanksalot around town, which was quickly amended to "Lady" after reports of seeing a maidly figure nearby multiple crimes. Named Shanksalot for the amount of stabbing this knife-wielding criminal committed, many of the bodies have been found with both stabwounds and wolf bites. It's suspected that wolves have been feeding on the victims and that some form of bait may have been used to attract the wolves there, but this part of the theory is pure speculation. Other reports claim that similar happenings have occurred in Genessia as well. The bounty is set at 5,000 red bills.
[*OOC NOTE: For the Fayren bounty this week the character is Sakuya Izayoi, contact Critiana to plot the completion of this bounty! THIS BOUNTY WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF FEBRUARY! ]

Nova City
The Case of the Crow Bowl: Nova City has suffered a mysterious theft. A prized bowl made from an asteroid that was being transported to the local space museum for display was stolen the same night as the strange lights. It doesn't seem like they caused the light event, but they certainly took advantage of it. Find the bowl and bring the thief to justice to receive 8,000 red bills.

FOR BOUNTIES: Reply to this comment with a link to your log to claim a bounty (this will make it easier for all players to see what bounties have already been claimed and make sure that repeat bounties are not listed in the newspaper after they have been caught.) As always, the first person who writes up the log for the bounty is the one who gets the reward - no handwaving, no OOC claim-staking! Feel free to team up, or even fail to deliver the bounty. Please note that whoever goes after the bounty is in charge of writing the NPCs involved, but feel free to ask the mod for any tips if you like. ]
