[ video/action in Nova City near the Bay ]

I had heard about the things that looked like stars that appeared near the new Bay and wanted to check them out.

[ Nozaki takes the camera off if himself now, showing everything around. he's showing off the hole in the ground, the water, the shining stars in the water ]

I thought that someone had pulled a prank and put coins in there. But they aren't coins. They're lighted stars. But how are they powered?

[ he reaches out, the video still recording. it takes him a couple of tries, but he picks up one of the stars up, turning it around in his fingers and then setting it in his palm for everyone to see. in a matter of seconds, the star dissipates into his hand. holding his hand up afterward, it glows with thousands of stars on it ]

Mikoshiba, I think I've been chosen to be a hero in a game--

[ he stops speaking abruptly, seeing this memory as he drops the phone into the ground beside the hole. he's quiet for a long time, the finally shouts ]

S-Sakura!!

AH?! No fair, Nozaki! You don't even play enough video games!

[Some grumbling along the lines of "that star better not have been for me" while he's running and nearly hits the table while he does to get to the Bay because this is his chance, but.

That didn't sound right.]

Nozaki...are you okay?

[ he's quiet, almost too quiet. he was sad about Chiyo being gone... but just having that memory come back to him made things a little worse. he frowned, closing his eyes sadly ]

Mikoshiba... I think I've become a villian instead. All these sad memories are coming to me!

[Mikoshiba can pretty much figure out what's going on in Nozaki's head right now. He misses Sakura. It's obvious to everyone but Nozaki.]

Don't say that! Every good video game protagonist has a tragic past they must overcome! Moving past it is what separates them from the villain! You can do it, believe in yourself, Nozaki!!!

Nozaki-kun, what are you talking abou--

[She was actually on her way home from work, meaning she's not watching the video at all.]

Hey. Are you okay?

These stars in the water near the Bay. Have you been over here?

Kashima-- [ he takes a second to clear his throat ] I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?

I received these new powers and now I'm remembering sad things. I can't use my powers yet either, maybe I need to do something.

If I don't have powers then why is my hand glowing? [ he holds his hand out, making different hand signals. one of them might or might not be Spiderman's gesture when he shoots a web. and the stars finally die away, fading slowly ]

[ he takes a deep breath ] Mikoshiba... I never used my powers for good in time!! I wasted them!!!

Your hand...

Nozaki, you're so cool! [And he means it. That is like the coolest thing he's seen Nozaki do. His admiration is disintegrated as soon as the stars die.]

I don't think that was a super power to begin with. They don't normally work that way. Unless it was a one time move, but there's no final boss...

Like some super move? I didn't get a chance to use it.

[ he frowns, going to sit beside the hole now as he sets the phone beside him. he's looking at the water now ]

...Do you think Sakura got home safely?

[He sighs, puts on his shoes and steps outside. He starts heading to the Bay.]

I think so. I don't remember anything when I got here, nothing strange or dangerous. I'm sure she's safe.

I wonder if she ended up somewhere else instead...

She should be fine though, she makes friends easier. [ there's a pause and then he looks like he realizes something. he puts his face in his hands then, looking upset ]

Like where? Thinking about something like that which you have no way of knowing's only going to make you worry more.

...Nozaki? What's wrong? [He starts running, wanting to get there faster.]

Chiyo-san is safe at home.

I bet she's somewhere with flowers and ribbons... Or something.

[ he takes a deep breath before removing his hands and yelling ] I'm going to have to double up on the work without someone to do beta!!

what if she's somewhere else?

okay i'll be here.

Do you remember what season it was from when she got here?

[Are you fucking serious right now Nozaki.

Mikoshiba stares at you, unimpressed.

He slowly pockets his phone for a moment, but he leaves it on. The sound of footsteps can be heard when he finds a corner and then lets out a frustrated scream.

He pulls out the phone again, livid.]

Of all the things that could upset you about Chiyo leaving, you chose that?! What the hell is wrong with you?! Didn't she matter more to you at all?! Even I miss her, and I don't even--!!!

[Oh no. His lower lip trembles, tears peeking out from the corners of his eyes.]

CHIYORIN!!!

I am upset that Sakura is gone, Mikoshiba. But I can't dwell on it and let it ruin everything.

She was my friend too. I just don't know what I'm going to do now. I might have to give up on my part-time job so that I'll have time to finish my manga pages.

[he sighs sadly.] No, Chiyo wouldn't want that...

It's okay if you have to. MayuMayu and I make enough money as it is. Kashima has a good job too.

MayuMayu? [ heeeeee~ ]

I'm glad, but if we want to get a bigger home then I'll have to make sure that we can all pay for it and pay for everything that we need too.

Yeah. [He smiles...then seems to realize what he's doing and gets flustered, trying to make himself smaller.] Y-you know who I mean! Don't play dumb!

Nozaki... [You're so responsible, he can't but help stare in admiration.] It's okay. You should follow your dream! Focus on putting your name out there here, once you're successful enough, you won't have to worry!

Cute, I'll put that in my manga. [ he smiles, looking a little mischevious ]

I can't have Mayu or you or even Kashima working yourselves to death. Mayu has worked enough for all us combined.

What? [Because they're all oblivious about something and for Mikorin that means being Nozaki's inspiration.

But Nozaki has done a lot of weird things lately, like when he took pictures of Mikorin and Mayu (which was incredibly mortifying), and his jokes about Mikorin being Mamiko...

Realization dawns upon him. His voice catches in his throat, nearly a whisper.] Nozaki, don't tell me...

All this time, you've used your own brother as an inspiration for Mamiko?

[He frowns, deeply troubled. It was true, Mayu had been working too hard. It wasn't healthy at all.] That's why I've got two jobs, so he doesn't have to work as much. Why "even" Kashima?

Lighted stars..? [ Wow.. She seems impressed by them. ] They're so pretty. Why did it disappear though?

going home fits the pattern better. home is like we never left anyway. confirmed that w/ dream dock.

I don't know. Maybe it was done giving me my super powers and I have to figure out how to use them now. [ he balls up his fist, looking determined! ]

oh. that's good to know at least.
