[A wide energetic smile greets those looking down at their video's.]

Good Morning everyone!

I hope everything's at least a little bit better now. Anyway! I've been thinking about opening a book store here in Fayren! I want to find as many amazing books as I can and I want to know what everyone would be interested in reading so I can track them down for you!

Also if anyone is willing to lend a hand since I can't be around all the time. I think books are amazing so I hope anyone who wants to help does too!

[Her smile widens a bit before she ends her little message.]

Private Video to Ted:

I'm sure you are more busy now then ever. I know I have been but I wanted to talk to you about your offer. Assuming it's still available but I've thought about it since then.

[She laughs.] I think I have good news for you.

I'm currently living at an Inn in Fayren if you want to talk in person or I can meet you somewhere.

I for one love book stores. That's a great idea.

[He wasn't busy at all, actually. He managed to foist nearly all his work onto Darklaw, and she seems to not hate completely hate it. That's a win in Ted's book.]

"That's my favorite kind of news. If I knew more about the layout of Genessia, I would meet you exactly halfway between your inn and my office. But I think I'll go all the way for the exercise. Give me a path to beat, if you please, and I'll be there shortly."

She wouldn't have to wait long, as Ted' haste made itself known by his shortness of breath. Panting, he said "All right. Let me have it!"

Physics and medicine? But I would be interested in reading anything you're able to acquire.

I already am -- or was, before I was brought here.

That's what Weiss thought too.

"Of course I'm all right. I began my introduction that way for the express purpose of relaying that information. I mean, it's a lie, or else you'd see me float to heaven like a balloon." Then he heard the information she relayed.

"Oh." Processing...processing...if you listen closely, you can hear the dial-up modem booting in his head.

"Oh! Well, then, wel—" He stopped. Almost every fiber of his being wanted to say "yes", but there was just one thing nagging him.

"Please understand, I don't mean to be a pest. It's just...do you still mean what you said back then? About wanting to do what was right in your own eyes?" It was a phrase that had bothered Ted a lot, when he really thought about it. He likely remembered her words wrongly, but what he remembered correctly is that that phrase: "Every man did what was right in his own eyes", was used to describe one of the most disappointing and treacherous cities in Earth's histories.

Naturally, he felt awful bringing it up. Levy seemed as good a person as any he could hope to find. To doubt her now based on the philosophy her words suggested seemed to him very petty. And really, how often are seventeen year-old girls really serious about their speech anyhow? He doubted whether he could even articulate his doubts well, so at odds were his desire and his worry.

I don't really have a book in mind for you to look for, but if you find one about the history of games here that would be enough.

[He gives a small smile really.]

How are you since we last met anyway?

Ted gave a sigh of relief. He worried that Levy might be like most girls he knew, giving preference to feeling over principle. A natural enough impulse, especially in mothers, and admirable in its own way. But not in law. Out of all the Guardians, Ted had garnered the most friction, and that didn't look to decrease any time soon. He had to make sure he could count on someone to adhere to right and wrong when things got dicey.

It was for that reason he hadn't hesitated to hire Darklaw, after all. She was one whose ethos lay outside, which is the only proper place for it. He was glad, then, that Levy also seemed to say that her conscience had something to look up to, rather than exist for its own pleasure.

"Phew, had me worried there for a second. You still do, but everything on your end looks clear. It's good that you will let your conscience speak out; I'll probably need it to.

Since you've been candid, allow me to present myself for some cross-examination. It'll be good practice, if and when you advocate for the law. Might as well know what you're getting into." In other words, he'd present the most controversial things of himself regarding Guardianship, and let Levy decide how that sat with her.

"For starters, I've recently put in an edict to remove pretty much all mysticism related to forensics and crime. For my term, the dead shall not be summoned, nor shall fortunes be read in the pursuit of justice.

And, though I hate to correct a compliment, you're wrong to say that I wouldn't hurt anyone intentionally. It's a heavy matter, but if it came to it, a desert might come that is very punishing indeed. You've probably heard what sort of trouble Dracula has brought to the place; his castle is still there, you know...I'll stop beating around the bush. He has to go, and were it in my power, he and his dreadful castle would be gone by now.

To sum it up in the pithiest way I know, Dracula has likely done things bad enough to merit a noose. If I had to tie it myself and kick him off the chair, I'd do it."

Dark! And yet, Ted resolved, she deserved to know the truth without any sugar-coating. He'd explain his stance, if Levy liked, but for now he decided to see if any of them dissuaded her right off the bat.
