Flowers for Ted [Action, Closed to Theodore Satchel]

Porrim came by Ted's First Guardian office in Everglade wearing in a blue and white summer dress, with a newspaper tucked under her arm and a flower pot in her hands.

"Good morning Ted, I believe I promised you a gift, didn't I?"


Undead and Deceased Civil Rights Movement Headquarters [Action, Open]

When investigating a crime, you have to start somewhere. The victims are probably not a bad place to start. Maybe they have some enemies? Stalkers? Better head down and find out what's going on! And that's exactly what Porrim is going to do. If she sees someone she knows in the Everglade or just wants to chat up the tall grey-skinned, horned and impeccably fashionable Rainbow Drinker, she'll certainly be amenable, however.

It's not like it's a matter of life and death or anything. 


Hamate Strip Mall - Trendy^TM Fashion Boutique [Action, Open]

Catch Porrim while she's working at her job in the Hamate Strip Mall! She can't socialize too much while she's on the floor, but she'll be happy to hook you up with some lovely fashions and accessories! You might be able to convince her to take her break with you. Or you can just be catching her as her shift ends!


Garden Park Apartments - House Warming Party [Action, Open]

Porrim recently moved into apartment 302, and she's hosting an understated get together in her new place! She's moved the furniture around a bit and accented the place with a variety of second hand accessories, although you'd be hard pressed to guess they were nicked from yard sales and discount stores just by looking at them. It gives the place a bit of a dated, yet almost alien feeling.

There's snacks and drinks in the kitchen, although you should probably avoid poking at the stoppered jars in the fridge with the variously colored viscous fluid inside. 

There's no way you didn't know about the party because Porrim has been quite proactive, having sent out formal e-vites to all the tenants, posting flyers on the bulletin boards, and even going door to door to pester invite all of her neighbors and get to know everyone. She's not going to drag you out of your apartment, but she'll be really sad if you don't show up.

If you don't live here, you can still show up! No one is going to kick you out.

He perked up. "Ah, good morning yourself! I've been hoping for some good news. With any luck, that will include both of your parcels."

[gammavirginis]

"Well the flowers are definitely good news. This is a bromeliad. I'm told that they are very hardy flowers, so just make sure to water it occasionally and it should thrive. Or at least it should take several months die."

She set it on an empty spot on the table and then took a seat. She unfolded the newspaper and opened up the spot about the recent ban on Necromancy and Psychics and Mediums from courtrooms. "I don't know if the other 'parcel' will qualify as good news, it's more of an inquiry. I wanted to know more about your recent controversial policies."

She's careful not to sound judgmental; she's far too new to make any kind of value judgements. She didn't even know Necromancy was a Thing that was Real until she read the paper.

[youfool]

"Ah, that's just the thing; a plant that clings to life. Could use more like that. Thank you, Porrim."

Then came the bad news; high then low. Ted didn't have much hope in any good coming out of necromancy talk. He opted for jest instead.

"Oh, that. Truthfully I just enjoy taking away liberty. I won't rest until I've claimed the title of "Ted the Tyrant". I've even put in an order for the finest Fayren smiths to make me a crown and iron-toed jackboots. I think that will really complete the image. All on the taxpayer's dime, of course. I've even been practicing sounding more regal, but alas, you threw me off. I should've greeted you like so: 'Indeed, peasant woman. Your tribute is well-received; but do not expect to be compensated for bringing in the paper, like some domestic mongrel.'

But I'm always up for constructive criticism. I wouldn't want you to think I've gone soft."

She smiled, but it was not her customarily warm one. Her sense of humor when it came to oppressive dictatorships was particularly nonexistent.

"Are you done?"

[youfool]

Tough crowd. One day, Ted hoped, he'd make people laugh intentionally.

"No," he sighed, "not until the end of January, I think." He was referring to the length of his term. "More if history repeats itself, as it so often does, and less if there's an upset. Truthfully I don't know which to prefer."

"I was actually hoping you could just shed some light on what led to the decision. I'm not interested in convincing you to change your ruling, but more looking for insight on the person who's been targeting the Deceased Civil Rights Movement.

"What 'history' are you referring to?"

[youfool]

"Oh, the election process, and what might happen if I run again. It seems very doubtful, but that's what I thought last time too. As for the decision, that was born of my creed. Necromancy is an abomination, so out it went. I don't derive any pleasure from taking arms against tradition, but in that case, it and goodness were opposed."

"Ah, that one: the murderer with an acute sense of irony. Such a strange fellow. Good luck seeing into his brain. Knowing him, he'd probably wait until someone tempted fate, saying something like 'for as long as I live, I shall never be slain by ne'er-do-wells!' . Then, on cue, he would come. Funny, it doesn't say what the murder weapon was. Yes, a very strange fellow. Perhaps he targets those whom he thinks mind death least?"

That got chuckle.

"I admit, I know little about 'necromancy.' The rules of resurrection where I'm from do not generally require the use of dark magics. I'll let any such disagreement between you and the residents work out on its own.

"If you're so sure that this decision will get you removed from office, do you not think it might be more practical to compromise, however? Perhaps regulating it will be a more effective thing to do than banning it, if the ban will just be overturned by your successor?"

[youfool]

He grinned wryly. "How gracious."

He listened to her campaign advice, then shook his head. "Hah, I appreciate your political consolation. But it's no good. Well, half-good, more like. Which isn't nearly good enough; they'll think I'm entirely too wishy-washy if I budge so easily as all that. It's like blackmail, give in once, and it never stops.

Truthfully I don't particularly mind getting ousted early. Believe it or not, I'm only here on principle. Principle and practical don't get along too well. At least, not the kind of practicality that indulges in half-measures. And besides, use your imagination. One so rarely gets this job, and so one must think how best to leave it. To be expelled by the very citizens you fought for...such excellent poetry! That's the way to go. Think of it, the tragedy and the beauty. Rejected by the ones you sought to love, only to find that it was unrequited all along. Giving offense for good reason, and in the end, exile. Why, It's like I'm practically...

I'll stop there. Was just about to say something blasphemous. Still, I appreciate it. Flowers and advice; so few drop by here purely, for good will's sake."

Such an idealistic individual was unlikely to be associated with a murderer, Porrim thought. Well, unless it was some strangely illogical idealism, that thought that killing the opponents of good was a good act.

"Just for my peace of mind, Ted, I would like to hear that you disapprove of the actions of the murderer. No jokes, please."

[youfool]

"Have I earned such little trust as that? No, I don't approve. I'm the Guardian, for goodness' sake. However unpopular."

"I trust you enough to take your word. I think that says something, doesn't it?"

[youfool]

Ted touched a leaf of his new flower. "Suppose I'll have to take what I can get. Did you need help with anything else?"

House Warming Party

Porrim greets you at the door in a cute dress and invites you inside. There's some light, slightly melancholy music playing in the background.

[gammavirginis]

"I suppose not. I did want to let you know that I'm hosting a house warming party at my place in Genessia if you'd like to come. Nothing too crazy, just friends and neighbors."

Hamate Strip Mall

Sakura made sure to stop by once she found out that Porrim had her shop. She had started to work as a baker at Fai's cafe and so she had enough money to buy a new outfit. She was looking forward to it.

She peeked her head in the door way looking out over the sales floor.

"Hello?"

"Hi there, Sakura," Porrim greeted. She was wearing a patterned red dress with a Trendy nametag. "Lovely to see you again, and for the first time in person."

"Are you a hugging person, because I would love a hug." She held her arms out in invitation.

[youfool]

"My, how Genessians love to revel." Not that Ted minded. How could a proper Guardian resist hobnobbing with the hoi polloi? "It wouldn't happen to be a costume party, would it? I imagine my face would mark me for a persona non grata in record time, if it's here in Everglade. Or did you mean Genessia City?"

[gammavirginis]

"Genessia City, yes. In the Garden Park apartments. What can I say I actually like not having neighbors that float or have chitinous carapaces for once."

[youfool]

"Hah. How odd, that this world might be less exciting than one's own. I almost envy you. Very well, I'll be there, thank you."

[gammavirginis]

She got up to leave. "Remember to water the flower! Just dampening the soil once in awhile should do, I think."

[spitfireprincess]

Sakura gave her a nod and stepped closer to wrap her arms around the other woman. She liked hugs though it's been awhile since she was able to hang out with a girlfriend like this. Her smile was wide as she pulled away from there hello hug.

"It's nice to meet you. Do you think you'll be able to pick something out for me?" At the moment Sakura was wearing the dress she woke up in which was her racing outfit from the world before this one.

Just as he said, Ted showed up, gave the usual greeting, and went to take a seat and just soak it all in. Getting out of Everglade was always a refreshing experience, and it was so nice to not be surrounded with people who despised him, for a change. Ah...

"I think so! What kind of look do you think you were going for? Did you want to stick with yellow or did you want a change?" She lead Sakura through the small boutique, trying to figure out what would look good with her colors.

"Ted! Glad you could make it!" She ushered him in. "Make yourself comfortable. Can I get you anything to drink?"
