[Dairine is not that much of a morning person, so she doesn't tend to get up terribly early. However, when she wakes up to see the Pokeball waiting for her, she feels a rush of adrenaline and joy. Pokemon were one of the best parts of her stay in Paradisa.

Anyone planning on sleeping in may soon find their rest interrupted by the loud thuds of quick feet running down the hall. Dairine skids to a stop in front of the room Conan is staying in. WHAMWHAMWHAM! He only gets three warning "knocks" on his door before Dairine slams it open in her excitement.]

HEY, CONAN! GUESS WHAT, THERE ARE POKEMON HERE!!

[Conan jerks awake out of a sound sleep and gropes for his watch even before recognizing her. With his life, people suddenly running into his room was usually not a good thing.

Immediate panic gone, he gives her a annoyed scowl.]

What exactly is a pokemon and why should I care?

[Shoot her with that watch, Conan, and you'll regret it. Dair had to deal with that sleeping drug once. Once was enough, thank you.

She keeps an eye on the watch but strolls into the room. Thankfully, she turns down the volume a bit, despite still grinning.]

They're really cool pets! People train and collect them in their world.

And you should care because since I got one... [Dairine holds up the Pokeball she found.] I'll bet you did too!!

[He frowns irritably.]

Pass. I don't have time to play games with pets.

[She rolls her eyes.]

Why must you be so allergic to fun, Conan? It's not like it'd kill you to relax and get to know some unique animals. Maybe they could even help you solve cases!

[eastdetective]

[He was very nearly offended.]

Oi! I don't need the help of some animal to solve my cases. And I'm not allergic to fun.

[He just had his own ideas of what fun was. ]

[His ideas of fun were usually boring from what Dairine remembers. Or extremely dangerous. It could go either way.]

I was thinking more 'make sure the culprit doesn't kill you once you've found them.' You could definitely use some help there.

[She's seen those bullet wounds he's got.]

Oh really? And yet you don't see the joy in training Pokemon. Have you never had a pet before?

Of course not! Why would I want something like a pet?

And I don't need help like that.

Uh, because you're a human being? Honestly Conan, even Sherlock Holmes had a pet.

[Dairine gives him one of her deadpan looks.]

Evidence suggests otherwise.

[He gives her an annoyed look. He knew exactly what she was getting at. ]

I don't have the time to take care of some pet.

Not even here? It's hardly like there's a new case every day.

Besides, you've already been given a Pokemon. Might as well enjoy it while they're here.

[She doubts they will last long. In Paradisa, they were only given a week in the Pokemon world, just like any other world change.]

[Dairine catches it with her other hand, grinning triumphantly. Then she tosses the pokeball, but this time away from the other furniture.]

All right, come on out!

[Suddenly the ball opens up in midair, light springing from inside. From that light comes a blue reptile standing on two legs. Opening its big jaws, the Pokemon replies.]

Totodiiile!

[Dairine blinks and kneels down to get a closer look.]

A Totodile, huh? I've never seen one before.

[Conan eyes the animal distrustfully.]


Do you have to be so enthusiastic about it?

[wizard_redfive]

About what? A new Pokemon? Of course! Just look at it!

[She holds her arms towards the Totodile, but quickly retracts them when it takes a playful snap at them.]

Those teeth look tough. Perfect for battling! I bet it's a water type, so it should have those attacks too!

Why should I care about battling and attacks?

[wizard_redfive]

Because that's how you collect more. Your Pokemon engage wild ones in a fight, and you catch them using a Pokeball like this.

[She holds up her own Pokeball.]

Maybe I don't want any more, you know.

[wizard_redfive]

You better be ready to give your Totodile lots of attention then. Most are social creatures, you know.

[eastdetective]

It should probably find someone else.

[wizard_redfive]

I don't think it works that way.

[eastdetective]

I certainly don't understand why it insists on following me around.
