[ Vivio's looking a lot happier than she was the last time she made a post on the network, something that's pretty obviously as soon as she giggles as her Chikorita nuzzles into view as well. But she has a very important question, so she can't really afford to get distracted for too long. ]

Hi everyone! I... Well, there's something that I'm still a little bit confused about with the whole pokemon thing that's going on right now. I mean, I know we're supposed to train them to fight and catch some of them in the pokeballs because that's what they want and a talking telepathic pokemon said they do.

But umm... how exactly are we supposed to go and teach ours any new moves? I mean, I only really know some martial arts and magic and Chikorita's tries at... doing a punch didn't really go all that well.

[ Her Chikorita makes a bit of a sad sound at that. ]

So what am I supposed to do here? I mean, I don't think they're just supposed to tackle each other all the time. One pokemon I caught can shoot big thunderbolts and stuff. So I'm kinda confused on what else I'm supposed to do here. Has anyone else been able to figure things out on how that works?

[Of course Satsuki is caught up in the pokemon craze as well; perhaps not as enthusiastically as others, but she's putting in her effort. She thinks she may have heard Vivio over the network before but the workds 'magic' and 'martial arts' in the same sentence really catches her interest. That's a style she can get behind!]

I have a theory based on what I have experienced from previous battles.

You can not teach them as a martial arts teacher would instruct a student. From what I can tell pokemon develop their techniques once struck by inspiration in battle; with some taking a bit longer than others. It sounds as if you have captured a pokemon that has developed their skills in the wild longer than your own. How many battles has your Chikorita experienced?

I believe the wo+man abo+ve is co+rrect.

After a co+uple o+f battles, Qwil learned Abso+rb o+n his o+wn. I certainly didn't battle anything that used a techique like that, o+r sho+w it to+ him myself.

Really? That seems kinda... weird. But it does make sense, Chikorita's only really been in a couple of battles. Even though we've been told that they like to fight, she doesn't really seem to be all that aggressive and is pretty happy just walking around and stuff.

So I guess if she wants to learn more moves we're just going to have to keep battling and stuff. Unless there's another way to do it somehow...

Well, if that's how it works, at least I should have a bit of an easier time training them than I thought I would.

... Kinda seems silly if they only learn moves randomly by fighting anything though. Seems more like a video game than anything that actually happens.

Indeed; pokemon appear to possess unique behaviors, though over time the bond you develop may result in a trait or two of yours becoming shared.

I have not heard of any other way of teaching pokemon but I would recommend getting in contact with the one called MewTwo as he comes from the world these creatures originate from. He should be more familiar with the process.

[Well this is a surprise.. She wasn't expecting the girl to suddenly be so formal (or in awe) and that just kicks things off with a great start for the young lady. It's almost enough to make her smile.

Almost. Very close. Satsuki glances off-screen a moment, as if fiddling with something, then looks back.]

The more you train them, the more they'll develop their skills and have an aptitude for doing much more damage. This isn't the first time Pokemon have been in this world. For example..

[ Weiss moves her video to show off her level 87 Charizard, which she's had since the last event. ]

This is Char. He was originally a Charmander, then a Charmeleon, and now a Charizard. If he goes beyond that, I haven't found out about it yet, but I'm sure I will. So they not only learn moves the more you practice fighting with them, they also change appearance and become vastly stronger.

But its best not to dwell on things beyond your control.

Sorry. I just... don't usually end up talking to people who are in charge of, well, an entire city. It's not really something I expected to happen like this, that's all.

... I guess. But still, what if that game destroys more worlds?

And what kind of person would make a game like that in the first place?

Oh wow! He looks really strong! Does that mean that my Chikorita might end up getting that big too?

[ She pauses, frowning for a moment before smiling. ]

Nevermind, I'm sure I can figure that out for myself after training with him for a bit. Or researching somewhere. But he still looks amazing.

[Oh. Well, yes that does make sense when she puts it that way.]

I see; my apologies. Then I suppose I should admit my contact holds a second purpose. I have noticed that, as of late, the number of adolescent arrivals have been increasing. I wished to ask if you have a parent or guardian with you, or if you reside in the K&H home.

The game has and will continue to destroy more worlds, I think. But I think that's just the nature of Paradox Space. One world is destroyed, another takes its place.

... Oh. That makes sense.

[ Vivio. She asked a question. Should answer that. ]

Anyway, yeah. My mom's here, so I've been living with her. She's been here for a while, though I don't think I've asked her how long, since it doesn't really seem to matter much. We're... not really from the same point in time somehow.

I'm probably pretty lucky that it didn't end up being that she was the same age as I am here.

And I'm guessing that the game has spread too much to be able to destroy every copy of it?

... What's Paradox Space?

I don't think it would be as simple as that. I'm not sure if you could even say the game is responsible for the destruction of the world. The arrival of the game is more like a harbinger. Not playing the game wouldn't have stopped Beforus from being destroyed, but without it, Earth wouldn't have been created.

[ She thought. It was all pretty crazy stuff and she didn't think too hard about it. ]

That... still doesn't make any sense at all.

[ Also, did she say Earth? How could Earth have been created by a video game. That's where her mom was from. ]

Why wouldn't not playing the game keep your world from being destroyed?

Ah, excellent.

[It's pretty rare that a child shows up with their parents, it seems, so it's nice to hear something like that for a change. Mind, that raises some more questions, but she can hold off on further family questions.

The comment, on one hand, makes sense because that is an entirely possible scenario here in Genessia. On the other, that is a wild comment to toss out.]

The 'same age'? Has something like that happened before?
