A King's Decree [Action/Video] (The Invasion of Attleton)

From the entrance of the Archway into Attleton, a lone figure could be seen standing there, golden locks swaying in the breeze as he looked upon the city. "Hmph. Such a dismal place." he muttered softly as a ripple of golden light appeared over his hand. From the light a lone feather drifted down, the man grasping it at the tip and holding it over his head.

All throughout Attleton there would be a rather large earthquake with its origin point coming from the man as the ground around him trembled, shattered, and came together again, rising up to form soldiers made from stone, each one clad in stone armor with a variety of weapons. Hundreds of soldiers rose to thousands as they all took shape and form, standing in formation as they awaited the one who summoned them.

[Pulling out his communicator, Gilgamesh turned the camera on, focusing on the multitude of soldiers that were now at his command.]

Hear me, Oh citizens of Attleton.

[Even now his voice is booming loudly and full of the charismatic presence that had drawn eyes to him wherever he went.]

It has come to my attention that you are being lead by an inept soul whose only value is in how entertaining a mongel he is. I plan on rectifying that. Thus, I do declare in the divinity that is within me, that I am to become the next Guardian of this Archway effective immediately. Any who dare to say otherwise, will find themselves attacked by my new army, courtesy of a magical feather artifact I found.

[The camera is turned around so it shows Gilgamesh in his golden armor, radiating a bright light as he stares impassively into the screen.]

And to those who seek me out for the feather or to rescue this songbird, [Panning up to show Sakura in that golden bird cage hanging above him.] be prepared for death. I will show no mercy to those who deny my right as King. Though if you are amusing enough, perhaps I will let you live and entertain me. So come! Come and meet your doom or bow down like the mongrels you are and greet your new King!

[That's him. There's no doubt about it. The feather in his hand, and the poor girl in the cage above him. Azalea's talons tremble as she holds the device, witnessing the events unfolding in Attleton. She wants to do something...but rushing in alone without a plan would be suicide. Not to mention that army of golem soldiers he's created. This is going to be even more difficult than she thought. She really wishes that she had her clan to call upon. They'd tear down those golems in seconds.]

[Azalea pauses, thinking to herself. What would Qubine do? His favorite reminder to all dragons is, "Know your element." Fire...ineffective against rock. Azalea would be at an disadvantage element-wise. She still has her Contuse spell, however, that could reduce her targets' attack power. But against that many soldiers, she can't afford to risk it. A spell like that would be best used on Gilgamesh himself, but only if necessary.]

[Another lesson she could pick up is, "Know your breed." Fae dragons were tiny, but possessed powerful magic. Azalea could use her small size to hide, and to attack if necessary. Soon, a plan comes to her. Sneak in, swipe the feather, and then flee. Let the other people deal with Gilgamesh and rescue Sakura. And when it's over, Azalea could return the feather to Sakura.]

[With her plan in mind, she goes to Attleton, keeping to the skies to stay out of sight. When she spots Gilgamesh, she keeps her distance behind him, perching on any building or high surface she could find. She watches him carefully, keeping an eye out for that feather, waiting for the right time to swoop in. Please let this go smoothly, she thinks to herself...]

[The face on the other side of the screen contains a face adorned with a scowl, though most notably it belongs to a child. A child with obvious muscles, but still, a child.]

Stop what you're doing and let her go. There's no reason to do any of this.

[And sometimes, things never change. Gohan's going to try to talk this guy down before seeking him out to defeat him.]

[Anastasia really should know better than to get involved. But her princess instincts took over and wanted to give this man a piece of her mind. And as an act of defiance against his "authority," she even showed her face to him over the video network.]

"You call yourself a king and yet you would gladly go to war with all your neighbors just because you have an army.

You are no king. You are a plague on all civilized societies."

[Gilgamesh waves a hand as he sends several soldiers down into the town. The first move is always send scouts to gather information and the fact that these soldiers were completely expendable was a fact he was going to abuse. He clutches the feather tighter in his hand as more soldiers rise up to replace the ones he sent.]

[He sits down on a golden throne that shimmers into existence, a hand under his chin as he peers down at the city, waiting for the soldiers to report back. He doesn't seem to be paying too much attention to his surroundings, though the soldiers patrolling everyone probably helps with that.]

[Gilgamesh scowls in return. After all, why should a child tell him what to do?]

There is a reason indeed, child for what I am doing. Ineptitude must be stamped out before it brings ruin and so I must step in to do so where others will not.

I go to war because the Guardian of this place is inept and more a common jester than any leader. He would sooner drive the country to ruin than he would bring it to greatness.

And it's hollow words coming from the mongrel who hides behind a screen instead of standing up to die like a human. I do that which you all do not have the courage and understanding to do.

Either come challenge me in person, or cease barking lest I come hunting for you.

[Even more of those rock soldiers? This has to end before it gets even worse.]

[Azalea focuses for a moment, gathering energy from her surroundings, just in case something goes wrong. She then watches as he sits upon the golden throne. It's not much taller than he is, so perching on it would likely give her away. So...here goes.]

[The little dragon swoops in from behind, hovering several feet directly above him. She lashes her long tail out like a whip in an attempt to snatch the feather.]

"I will 'cease barking' when I am done.
A real king has more in his arsenal than war and soldiers.
You speak of courage, and yet you will use all your might to destroy those who are weaker. You seem to care about Attleton, yet you will risk destroying it over one person.

If whoever this Guardian really is inept, your actions certainly won't bring the city to greatness either."

[She paused for a moment...]
"Now I am done. If you will excuse me." [She said in a mocking manner as she shuts off the feed.]

[Sakura's thin fingers wrap around the bars as the scene plays in front of her.]

Stop this!

[It looks as if she's trying to break the metal holding her but it's no use. She stumbles back so that she's sitting once more in the cage. Her eyes look out on those who've begun to arrive and a feeling of dread settles in her stomach.]

Don't hurt them.

[She's trying not to cry but her efforts are obvious.]

Hmph... so you are the one who took the feather. Typical human tyrant. The spirits will not suffer your rule and the very world around you will rise up against you.

The only one who should be prepared for death is you.

All I'm getting right now is a mongrel barking at me. The spirits do as they please and care not for mortal affairs. They are the same as the gods and I will strike them down if they dare go against me too.

[Hmmmm... She'll be examining it all closely for a few moments before responding. In contrast to those before her, she's completely calm and perhaps a little curious.]

Ah, so this is the route you have chosen to take... The irony of your choice in words did make me laugh just a little. First you declare yourself the new Guardian, a position granted through election like a mayor, then you demand you be recognized as king, which is not an elected official. Not that I really care that much, I just enjoyed the irony. That is a rather adorable bird.

[Before too long, a young boy with strange brown hair and wearing a red and white toga, with brown shoulderpads and a bangle around his arm, wearing sandals and a green gem necklace, arrived at Attleton and, when he arrived, he looked softly to Sakura before shouting out to her from where he was standing.]

"Sakura-san! It's Mamoru! I'm here to save you! Just like I promised!"

[Mamoru's face of worry and concern for Sakura then turned to Gilgamesh, with a defiant look in his eyes.]

"Gilgamesh, let Sakura-san go! Don't hurt anyone else! I don't know what you plan to do with that army, but...Stop this! We should all be able to live in this world in peace! Why try to conquer and rule over us? Why spread suffering? WHY?"

[Mamoru's voice sounded angry, but not in a typical way, it was more like frustration, but it was very emotional and passionate. He still thought diplomacy was possible, he was the type who only turned to fighting as a last resort, but Mamoru was NOT scared of him, if it came down to it... he would. You could tell just by looking him in his big green passionate eyes.]

If you take the life of another person, you forfeit your own. Commit that to memory.

[Minako had already changed into Sailor Venus when she turned on the feed, she looked serious but what she was saying next was not.]

Okay Lucifer-Wannabe, I'm sure you can be the Guardian on that archway. However you didn't anything about the city.

[Yes she had to make a joke of his choice of wording. However her eyes narrow slightly for a brief moment.]

However, taking something by force is not how a decent and good ruler acts.

[Gohan isn't intimidated. He's been talked down to or dismissed because of his age before, so that's nothing new to him. Plus he's got a hostage. That's unacceptable.]

The people of Attleton voted for their Guardian themselves. You want to change that? Wait until the next election and do things the proper way. People should be allowed to live a free life.

And there is never a good reason to hold a hostage. Let the girl go.

Only fools and warlocks discount the spirits and their stake in the state of the living. You will release your prisoner, and abandon your claim, or you will face the wrath of the very planet itself.

[Gilgamesh notices that tail lashing down, his hand moving in almost a blur as he pulls it back out of reach of the tail.]

Aha! So there is one who was brave enough to try and stop me. Pity you failed.

[He looks up to favor the flying lizard a glare, another ripple of light coming out with a spike on the end of a chain pointing at Azalea.]

Care to give it another go, or shall you show a modicum of intellect and flee with your life?

Just people people can vote for a person, does not mean they are voting for the right person. One who would take their opportunity and squander it without improving the people does not deserve to call themselves any kind of leader of the people. I intend to fix this in the way that is most efficient.

Idealists like you blind themselves to reality and refuse to consider what good it is to let an imbecile rule a country. At the first hard decision, they crumble.

Only fools give any thought to that whose desires are not the same as those who stand above them. The planet could do little to rise against me for I am created to stand above all by the Gods.

And I ensured the Gods did not get to stand above me.

One life to save A Thousand.

If you do not have the resolve to save the majority, do not dare speak as though you have the moral high ground by condemning everything else.

[Gilgamesh shrugs as he leans back against his throne.]

They appreciate one position, while I still have claim over another. Tis a simple matter in that, perhaps one of these will understand the difference though.

I do agree, the bird is adorable, though she's yet to sing. Perhaps you'd be willing to help coax her?

[Azalea's disappointed, but not surprised at the initial failure. Now what to do? Fleeing is obviously out of the question. That spike on a chain doesn't look too threatening, but Fai had warned her of his many, many weapons.]

If I would give up that easily, I wouldn't have come in the first place. On the other hand, if you have a modicum of intellect, you will stop this right now.

[Gilgamesh sits upright in the throne, looking more like the King he claims to be as he stares down at the small boy in front of him.]

What is peace, boy? But the time to prepare for yet another war. Besides, ineptitude must be stamped out, and this Guardian of Attleton's appears to be nothing but inept from what I have heard. And in order to remove the rot of society, some pruning must be done.

[Several ripples of light appear as blades start showing through them, each one charged with enough magical energy that the average person who could sense energy would flinch from how much was in each weapon.]

So leave, and take your innocence with you, lest I show you why just because you stand there and say no, others won't listen.

[He raises an eyebrow at the Lucifer comment, but ignores it. It's amusing really, because spawn of a Devil he is not; close enough to the exact opposite really.]

Then how does one fix the problems that plague mankind? Certainly you cannot expect everything to be settled with coy words and well wishes.

Problems like that must be removed through whatever means becomes necessary. If you cannot understand, then I do not expect to care when I have been granted the knowledge to judge man.
