[First part OTA]

[Anubis gathered up the courage to leave Yui's apartment while she was away. He doesn't mind being alone, but he wants to see Loki, and there are a lot of things on his mind right now. Loki and Yui communicate with others well. For Yui it's probably natural, and watching them interact, he could see she was helping him with that. But seeing Loki interact with Yui, and then with other humans on the network has made Anubis more aware of his own barriers that are more than just languages. So he's in Fayren now, but he's carrying a decent sized pile of books. Sometimes Thoth would teach him things, but Thoth isn't around right now. The books make it harder for him to dart away, unless he plans on throwing them, a fact he's all too conscious of, unless he wants to risk dropping one of the books. He doesn't care, but Thoth probably would.]

[Closed to Loki]

[Making it to Loki's shop, he pauses at the door.]

Ka...

[He isn't sure if Loki will even understand him. Or he might even be busy. But he's excited to see Loki, rocking on his tiptoes before he runs in, forgetting about the books he's carrying or that the shop is full of some unstable items.]

Ka bara! Bara bara ka! (Loki! Are you here?)

[Loki's at the back of his store, but he does hear a familiar "Ka bara" talk loud enough to know Anubis is there.]

I'll be there soon. Just wait a bit.

[He's busy making new flavors, but he can take a break after this one.]

Bara! (Okay, I will wait here.)

[He dumps the books on the counter and decides to start looking around. Loki's shop is always full of interesting things, so keeping himself entertained isn't hard.]

[For the second time since she arrived in Genessia, Izanami suddenly felt a power rather akin to her own from somewhere nearby. How curious.

The man nearby carrying a rather large pile of books caught her attention, though, and for the time being she didn't immediately assume that he was the source of that power. So, she greeted him as she would anyone else she met in her human guise - one hand in pocket, a small wave and a casual tone of voice.]

Hey. That's a lot of books you've got there.

[guardsdogs]

[He feels it too. A difference, not an offness, but something similar to the presence of the other gods. Before he can pinpoint it, he sees her wave. He's confused at first until he recognizes her. The one who gave him the beverage before.

She had been kind to him, and she wasn't loud or scary like other humans. Since he was trying to reach out, she seemed a better person than many to start with.]

Bara. [He nods in affirmation before he speaks again.] Ka bara bara! (I want to learn how to write so I can talk to others!)

[That same, odd, language he used before... she still couldn't understand what he was saying, but there had to be some way to maintain a conversation, right?]

You need a hand carrying them? Guessing you live pretty close by.

[There's a flash of fear toward her question, and he shakes his head vehemently, which almost causes the delicately balanced books to topple over. He leans forward, trying to hold them all. He's trying to communicate more, but accepting help from someone he doesn't know well is too unfamiliar.]

Kabara bara ka. (I live in Attleton, but one of my friends lives here.)

[He smiles when he says the word friend in his language.]

[Right, he doesn't want help. How stubborn. Instead, she just put her hands back in her pockets and let him right the pile himself.]

I live in Everglade, but Fayren's an interesting place. I have at least one friend around these parts, anyway.

[It takes some time before the newest patch is finished, but he does appear soon after he's done. He notices the books on the counter, wondering if Anubis brought them.]

Kabara ka bara ka! Bara kabara. (I have to wait much longer for Thoth! But I don't mind waiting because if I wait long enough he always plays.)

[He puts something he was examining down, rocking on his toes and eyeing the books and then Loki.]

Ah, right. Thoth can be pretty focused on his job, right?

[He really didn't understand the guy most of the time. What's so fun about books and knowledge he was so proud of?

... but speaking of books.]

You brought these, right? Did you want to learn something from them?

[guardsdogs]

Kaa. (But Thoth is nice and so is Loki!)

[Sometimes he'll read him excerpts too if he asks. He nods shyly at the books, tugging at his sleeves and avoiding his eyes.]

Ka bara bara. Kabara? (I want to learn how to communicate. Will you help me?)

[guardsdogs]

Kaa! Kabara ka. (Everglade is full of spirits! I want to see it for that reason. Just...not yet.)

[He pauses and tilts his head quizzically.]

Bara? (Can you understand what I'm saying?)

Hey now, I like being flattered but not... ah, nevermind.

[He doesn't like being told his nice, damn it.]

Well, that would certainly make life easier for you here... well, I'll do what I can to help you.

[guardsdogs]

Bara?

[He cocks his head like a confused puppy.]

[He jumps and looks ecstatic.] Ka bara! Kaabara ka bara... (Thank you so much Loki! I want to show you and Yui what I've learned from you!)

[Oh man, he's being cute today.

Though now that he thinks about it, why does he understand Anubis this well? It hasn't been this easy before. For a moment Loki looks like he's in his thoughts. Was it possible to just start understanding?]

That's strange.
