(Marie appears to be smiling when she fires up the video feed. Her eyes still show some concern, but she seems more relaxed compared to the last time she had felt compelled to send any kind of message out into the world. If the more at ease demeanor escapes whoever is watching, she appears differently in the sense that she is dressed much more warmly (she quickly relearned how much she missed the ocean and being warm, the only chill she could stand was one created by a breeze late at night) with a black hoodie (one that looks much like varsity jacket and a black conductor hat - her long blonde curls had been tucked back into a ponytail.)

Behind her looks like a group of scooters, one outdoor table with two chairs, and a sign stating to inquire about rentals inside.

In other words, she seems to be adapting to the changes well. Or she's trying her best to do so.)

So, uh, hey? I wanted to thank everyone for their help when I first showed up here.

But, in my case, I wanted to let people know about my shop...once it's open which should be tomorrow or the day after if I get everything done as I plan... But, anyway, I'm renting and selling scooters. I used to do that for a while and I kind of missed doing it and well, uh, I know this isn't exactly a beach town so maybe this sort of thing isn't too needed, but well...I'm also going to sell drinks too and I'd like to repay them with one on the house.

Just don't mind the baby duckling - if he's around. (Not a literal duckling.)

(Oh, he took her seriously. She goes from surprised, to confused, to completely caught off guard and flustered.

She had been talking about him.

...No, we don't have any ducks. I'm not near the water this time. (She is a little disappointed about that.)

...I, uh.... uh... (OH GOD.) wastalkingaboutyou. (She might decide to pretend to not speak English now.)

Well, um, not a real baby...

Just...um...well, oh boy this is awkward. My boyfriend kind of reminds me of a baby duck sometimes...

[He looks confused for a moment at that.]

How exactly am I a baby duck?

Because you tend to follow me around here...like a baby duck.

I mean the other term I could use is a bodyguard. But that isn't so cute. Or I could use "guard dog" but that isn't so cute either.

...And besides, you did say "How could I forget you. You're the only person I know." ...So baby duck.

Well in my world? It depended on a few things. What kind of scooter, your age, often you needed a license or something. I mean if you're close enough in age...I can let you ride a less powerful one. But you would have to be really careful.

How old are you?

I was hoping this week. I can message you once I am open and place one aside for you to rent. But if you never rode one before then how about this...I can teach you. No charge.

(She blushes at that first part.)

Y-yeah, you do. It's kind of cute... (She just finds it really odd having someone care enough to try to watch out for her, especially being this stubborn and thorough about it.

And her finding it cute is probably counter to what he is trying to make it look like.)

You think it's cute? [Isn't it supposed to be fierce and intimidating?] Really?

Scooters, huh? That's kinda cool. [He smiles.] I don't think I've ever ridden one.

I would be willing to pay for lessons, you might as well make money out of it that way.

Before I came here I wasn't much older than 17.

[Since he was born in the summer which it was when he found himself here, so he knew how old he is right now.]

(Marie is just going to end up giving him the most confused look she can possibly give him.)

Yeah, why wouldn't I?

(She laughs softly.) Oh, don't tell me...you're supposed to be scary when you do this? (She might look amused now.)

Everyone else might be scared, but not me.

(She frowns.) I don't think you will. I haven't seen any running and screaming when you have spoken to people, so I think you're fine. Really. Completely fine.

So, I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case, I'll tell you if it's looking bad.
