Hey, so I decided to give this place...the Cat's Eye... a try tonight...

(He frowns slightly at first and it might sound in his voice.)

More like I'm supposed to be meeting this guy here...and either I'm early or he's running late. Or he's some sort of crazy ninja and in that case I totally need to learn these skills...

Ah, yeah, if anyone sees my evil twin running around and he's on his way or something - tell him to hurry it up, alright? (A joke. Just not funny. At all.) I shouldn't be the responsible one here.

(Mark stretches and leans slightly back in his seat, the chair can be heard in the background if one listened closely enough. Obviously he is more than slightly bored at this bored. He's never been much of sitting idle kind of guy - not that he's not willing to do so if something is important enough.)

Anyway, why I'm here isn't important, well to anyone but me and the evil twin....but, anyone want to come hang out tonight...I'm buyin' the drinks this time.

Just don't get used to the idea. I'm not a pushover.

Hey, man... this is the right place, isn't it? You said at 7? Or did I mess that up. Anyway, if you're here tell me where you're sitting and I'll just switch tables or something.

And, man, if you're here...what kind of ninja training can you give me?

(Mark just thinks he's hilarious and he laughs and grins from behind the audio feed.)

[Jason had watched Mark arrive, waited until he'd found a table, and watched his post before he made his way over, sliding into the chair across from him.]

I'm not a ninja. I watched you walk in.

[Free drinks? Time away from the house or work? The sky pirate is there!]

The thought never crossed my mind. I've heard tell of the Cat's Eye, though. I may drop in for a spell.

I'd love to have a few drinks though, I ran a bar back home and I miss it but I won't take advantage of your generous offer. I'm not much of a pushover either. [cheeky smile]

(No, Jason. Mark is going to forever call you one and mention your "skills" - it's just how he shows he likes you.) ...You're a ninja. I should have been able to spot you. We look enough alike and I'd like to think I've seen myself in the mirror enough times...

Also, you could have, you know, just gotten a table and waved me over... (Of course, Mark knows this guy isn't exactly the type to do that.)

So, yeah, uh, nice to meet you in person.

[Sakura hears the message but before it's over she's walking to his table. Her smile is genuine and she's wearing the cute little outfit that all the servers have on.]

Who are you waiting for? I can keep an eye out too.

[She has an empty tray in her hands that she's holding to her chest as she continues.]

Would you like something to drink while you wait?

(Oh you. Mark knows you! Yes, come down. Have a drink.)

You should. (A huge grin. Mark's best weapon for convincing someone to bend to his will, or so he thinks.) Besides, that'll give me time to ask you a few things.

(Mark at first tries to jokingly feign disappointment, but he ends up laughing instead.)

Aw, damn...

Well, guess, I can sit here and pretend to be one of the cool Apollo astronauts for a while while I'm waiting. (He grins now.)

So, you ran a bar? You know, I don't think I've ever known anyone who has done that... what's that like? (He pauses.) Unless you don't want to talk about it, that's cool too.

(Mark was caught a little off guard, he had been staring at the device in his hands. He darts up slightly nearly dropping the item, but he smiles at Sakura.)

That'd be awesome, if you could.

(Right. Better try to describe who he was waiting for.)

Ah, this guy looks like me, but younger and a whole lot more serious. I think most people would be pretty freaked out by him, but he seems alright to me. (He would have went "would be scared ----less" but he decides to try to watch his language right now.) I've been calling him my "evil twin" on occasion.

(A drink was probably a good idea. This was bound to be a very serious conversation he was going to have.

He grins.)

That would be great, actually. Anything you recommend?

[Sakura nods, her bright smile seemingly fixed in place. She doesn't mind looking out for him and she doesn't get intimidated by people to often. There is really only one person who can walk into Cat's Eye that will scare Sakura.]

Young and serious. [She can remember that.] As for drinks, well this is a cafe so we have some pretty cute sweet drinks.

Then there are these. [She flips over the small plastic menu where there are 5 specialty drinks.] There is also tea, milk and water.

[Sakura isn't sure what he might like so she's tentative to recommend anything.]

Questioning, is it? You aren't law enforcement, are you?

(Mark is actually shocked by that accusation, a little offended, kind of amused too. He laughs at this, finding it hysterical.)

Me? Law enforcement. (Another laugh.) Dude, do I sound like a cop to you...

No, not questioning. Just about what's going on in this place and I'd be lying if I wasn't interested in continuing that conversation.

(Also, now Mark is HORRIBLY curious about that reaction and why the sky pirate would jump to that conclusion.)

That is usually what they mean by "questions", you know.

[He waves a hand.]

No matter. I would love to join you.

I'm good at not being noticed. [Okay, so, maybe he does sound a little bit like a ninja...]

And I like keeping an eye on exits. [It's a...quirk, Mark. You'll just have to get used to it.]

Yeah, you too.

In my case, it's just being curious. (He shrugs.) Trust me, it's kind of a requirement for going into space.

(Mark is lying. It's not a requirement, but it helps. A lot.)

Sweet. Hell yeah, you should. (Mark might be grinning now.) Though, I don't see a ton of anything like ale... but seriously, man. Should anyway.

(Free is free, man.)

I suppose I can humor you, just this once.

[You can practically hear the smirk in his voice.]

I don't often have a taste for ale, though a nice mulled wine after a hard day is always welcome.

So, you're good at not being noticed and you like keeping an eye on exits. (He totally sounds like a ninja right now.

Mark frowns.)

So, uh...yeah...so exits and not being noticed. What's that about? (He is actually curious about this and if Jason is paying attention to his tone - Mark is far from judging him. If anything, he's a bit concerned.)

If that wasn't cool to ask, then you don't have to answer and you can start with whatever it is you want to say...

[Jason shook his head.] I came here to tell you, so...it's fine.

[Only now he didn't know how to start.]

A group of fishermen pulled me from the Mediterranean sea a little over three years ago. I'd been shot three times in the back, but I didn't remember why or even my name.

You know, I was saying I'd love to have a drink with you, just that I wouldn't want a potential friendship to start off with mooching. [she smiles kindly.] An apollo Astronaut? Is that your job?

Yes! I absolutely loved it. It's something I'm good at doing and everyone that came in had a different story, so I found the people enjoyable besides the one or two that could be nauseating. [she laughs.] No, it's fine. Bar stuff is hardly personal.

Exactly that. He shouldn't be hard to spot, but I'm not sure how many people fit that description here either.

And thanks for offering to keep an eye out.

(He nods at what she tells him and gives the menu a glance before deciding. To Mark, he's a little overwhelmed by having so many choices - it's been a while since he's had to order anything in a cafe or restaurant.)

(He gives her a smile.) I think tea should work. Thanks.

Wait, wait, wait...you were shot 3 times and dumped into the ocean? Then you were pulled out of the water by fishermen? I'm sorry, I just...I know you've mentioned some of it before, but...it sounds crazy, so bear with me here...

The gunshot part, though... I'm not exactly religious but someone has to be looking out for ya there...

That's what'd my friend would tell you anyway.

("How the hell are you still alive?")

So, you seriously don't remember anything?

("Damn, remind me to never complain about a hole again...")

Once is all I'm going to ask when it comes to invite random people to just meet up with me...

(Bullshit. Mark might do this again if he gets bored enough.)

Mulled wine? Not sure if they have that, but let's see... if not, I owe you that sometime later.

[Sakura flashes him a warm smile before turning towards the counter. She's always happy to help and true to her word she looks up whenever she hears the door open looking for the man's grumpy friend.

It takes about five minutes but Sakura returns with a steaming cup of tea.]

Here you go.

(Mark might be a little embarrassed now for mishearing that.) Ah, right...that's fair enough. Totally fair.

Well, no. I wish. Those guys were cool, though. But that was actually long before my time. I was with Ares 3, which is considered still kinda cool where I'm from. (He grins. He was pretty excited about it when he was first told he was going to be a part of it.) Those guys went to the moon, but I got to go to Mars.

(And well, he ended up stranded there too.)

And well, Mars is kinda cool until it tries to kill ya. Then, well, it's on.

It sounds like it'd be kind of fun sometimes. Minus the nauseating people, I think I got lucky with my job...I liked everyone for the most part. I mean, even the people I didn't like, weren't exactly nauseating. Just bureaucrats - so maybe boring, too dependent on their rules for my liking.

I loved my crewmates, though. All of them are good people. (A pause.) Actually, one of them is here too. He's a cool guy for a Yankees fan. You might run into him. Name's Martinez.

[He shook his head.] I didn't...for a while. I...remembered how I ended up there, but...not the circumstances leading up to it.

[He shook his head.] I don't think it had anything to do with a higher power. It was most likely just my training that saved me.

So, you eventually remembered at least what happened? (Mark frowns.) I mean, at least there's that, but damn that's just some stubborn amnesia, you got there...

(Mark takes a sip of tea that had bee left in front of him and had been sitting for a while. It was cold and he makes a slight face.)

Maybe. (He shrugs.) Who knows, though? It could be you're just incredibly lucky too, I'm pretty sure that's a particularly deadly combination for most folks...if it wasn't the bullet holes, it'd be hypothermia or something if those guys didn't pick you up.

But, as someone who survived something incredibly stupid sounding due to dumb luck, I wouldn't complain about it. I'm not much of a fan of dying, though.
