Shokugeki 1: Arrival a la coffin? [Video/Action]

A redhaired teen sits on the edge of the Bay, video centered firmly on him to show off his ruffled red hair, a white headband around his forehead. "So...I'm going to assume this isn't some kind of Totsuki prank right? At least the hologram of that white girl is pretty well done for something that'd be just a prank. The name's Yukihira Soma nice to meet our esteemed kidnappers and whoever else is a kidnappee here."

The screen's background shifts as the boy apparently stands up, briefly showing off a leather case with a handle being picked up. "So...any place for a chef to get set up here?"

Soma's making his way down the street, case held over his right shoulder by his right hand, what looks like a dried squid tentacle in his mouth as he walked. His eyes roamed the city as he moved, lingering on various restaurants and shops.

[Levy greets the phone with a smile.]

I guess I'm a kidnappee. My name's Levy, it's nice to meet you. There are a bunch of restaurants around town if you want to find a place to work. Otherwise go to the welcome center and see about running your own place.]

Nice too meet you too, Levy. Are we actually able to open our own restaurants here from the get go? That's a bit surprising.

[Not to mention the last restaurant he truly worked in was his pop's restaurant. He's learned a lot from others of course, but owning his own seemed a bit daunting when it comes to the costs and fees.]

Well it depends. There are many places looking, but at the same time one can just go and open there own places. Surprisingly new arrivals can do it right away. It does make one wonder how they manage to do that without rent costs and such.

[Fai had been rather busy most of the day in Everglade figuring out a few things and simply asking some questions to those who live there. So with a stretch and a yawn he was on his way home. However it wasn't long before he stopped and spotted the other out of the corner of his eye.]

Ah! Hello there, you must be a new arrival? If you are welcome~ I'm Fai D. Flourite and if you have questions I'll be happy to answer. Though there are limits to what I might be able to word of warning.

[He paused briefly looking at the squid.]

I guess you must love sea food, right?

I opened my own bookshop. I don't see why you can't open a restaurant.

[If it's what he really wants to do she doesn't see it as a problem.]

Is that so? Got any rare cookbooks for sale?

[Getting his own restaurant certainly would appeal to him since he can start up his father's restaurant again.]

Hm...I hope they're not taking it out of our sales at the end of the day without telling us. Be a rather poor move. Do you know where we can go to get it set up?

Do you also know of a good place to stay until a place is built?

I don't know about rare but I do have a few cookbooks. Are you looking for appetizers or entries? I have one that's all about soup too.

[She'll have to find them but she knows that it's somewhere.]

You'll have to stop by the shop some time.

[Soma simply turns at the greeting of the blonde man before him, an easygoing smile on his face.]

Don't go dissing the dried squid. It's packed full of flavor and its' good grilled or used to make a soup with.

[Just ask the Dorm Mother back home-...well I guess you couldn't, but it's still true!]

Got any idea where I can go to get a place to bunk or how to setup a shop?

I'll take every one you have. Maybe in this place they've got different cuisine than normal. I'll learn anything to utilize it for myself.

[Fiddling with his pants, he pulls out a wad of those red bills.]

You guys use these here right? Heh, it's almost like the Totsuki Moon Banquet Festival again.

[Though he hopes it doesn't end with everything trying to change.]

[Levy laughs.]

Well make sure you keep enough money for rent. You should have enough for the month so I'll sell you a few at a time.

If you need them all you can pay me back after you start your restaurant.

[Seriously, does he want to become homeless?]

[Money for rent....is probably a good idea yeah. But new, possibly exotic cookbooks fires him up like nothing other.]

I'm sure it'd all work out. Though I guess I can take a few at a time.

[Paying her back with a meal or two though? That he could definitely do.]

In fact, maybe we could both help each other out? I could offer you meals at my restaurant once I get it started, and you could help me test some of my experimental dishes.

[He's got one of those grins going on. That kind of grin that makes him seem to be up to no good.]

[You would think that Levy might recognize that grin except she lives with those in Fairy Tail and it's really a sight she's used to seeing. She isn't the most skilled cook so it might be a good idea.]

Alright, I know I have books from a few different worlds. I'll gather them together and you can come pick them up at the shop.

[That way he can have them even if Levy isn't at the shop whenever he has time to stop by.]

[Well Levy will soon learn what that means if she lets Soma do his experiments on her.]

Hey that's rather nice of you. I would have just browsed about for it. Though I would need your shop's address to find it.

We just don't know. As for where you go there is a place you go to in order to set up.

However places aren't built the same way as you think. They just... well you choose where you want it and the building is already there. Some could even live where they work so long as it's has a place.

But if that isn't your cup of tea I have my inn which is free for the first week for new arrivals.

I wasn't dissing it, I asked if your liked sea food. Although...is it raw?

[Raw fish or raw seas food for him was just a big no.]

There is an inn near the Bay that lets people stay for free for a week. As for setting up a shop you go to a certain building which I can show you if you want.

I see. That makes it really convenient to set up then! No need to wait. I'm used to having my own place on top of my restaurant. My pop's restaurant was like that, so it'll be just like it used to be.

I might take you up on that offer of an inn though. Be useful until I can find where I go to get a place set up.

I like all kinds of food really. Do you not like raw food? I could always grill some. [If he even had a portable grill on him in the first place.]

Ohh that'd be quite nice. I'd probably get lost here unless this communicator thingy has a map in it. Maybe GPS device?

I am not a fan of raw fish for the most part. It's so slimy.

[He cannot help but shiver slightly even thinking about it.]

It doesn't, although there was a map on a stand when you first arrive though, did you not notice it.

Exactly, well almost since you aren't at home. But apart from that, it's good.

That's it purpose anyway, to at least be useful to people until they can find the best way for them to settle down.

Well, I guess I could consider this a sort of...odd working vacation from home?

[Honestly it just rings weird either way you look at it. But unless Soma could cooking contest his way back home, he's just going to swing with it.]

And I'd be glad to take you up on that stay at the inn. Maybe I could help cook for a bit while I'm there?

[He's walking for a little longer before he looks back up, confusion written on his face.] So....how do I get to your inn?

Well dried squid isn't slimy since it's dried. It's more...soft texture really. Though if that still turns you off, there's always grilling it.

There was a map back there? I guess I missed it. Well it shouldn't be too bad walking around until I find a place to crash or wherever that building is.

That's what I usually do with most raw fish anyway.

[There was probably more he didn't like about it really, but never the less it was not to his taste.]

There was, I know they don't make it obvious though and should really put a map into this device.

I guess you could put it in anyway you want to.

[It made her smile slightly, that was something she did need help on, so why not try now.]

I would like that, though...I might have some form of paying job for a little bit to give you some money while you figure things out.

[She pauses for a moment.]

As for how, are you at the Bay still or have you moved on?

[There are a few beeps as Levy focuses on her phone. He'll see the address pop up in a private text the next moment.]
