Mission 5 - I'm a secret agent, AMA!

Intro

[After dealing with the Red Claw and now without a job, Troy decided to take a week off, get a break and focused on training hard to keep his skills sharp. The mission made him realize how outgunned and alone he is in this world without the Consortium on his side. While he doesn't think the friends and allies he made here wouldn't have his back when shit hits the fan, it was just easier for him to long for the familiar. But it wasn't something that Troy really dwells on too long. He's alive, he's well, and tired as hell from all that training so that's something that calls for a celebration. Riding his motorcycle and wearing his power armor, Troy drops by a bar somewhere in Genessia.]

[After having a few beers and being bored since he can't get drunk anyway, Troy decided to try out the network and really put himself out there. He's been in this world for months now, and he feels he hasn't met a lot of people yet. Well this is a good chance to meet some! Firing up his new communicator, he starts to make a public video broadcast. His face shows up on screen with a brow slightly raised, wearing some fancy-ass leather jacket over shirt. His Genessia necklace hangs on his neck]

Alright. Hey guys, Troy Dantes here. So I was just thinking how I don't really know a lot of people in this world despite having been here for months now, and I thought why not for once use this network for something useful. Brief intro: I used the the Deputy Guardian for Nova City before the new boss rolled in recently, and my job before all of this wasn't too far from that. I was an agent for a independent paramilitary group, some would call me a soldier, but let's keep it as "agent".

[He shrugs, smiling a little]

Anyhow, if you're one of us who's been here for a lot longer than I am or new arrival listenin' in, I'd like to invite you for some drinks. It's my treat. Oh, and you younger folks only get soda or something. But, if you can't go outside or think bars are a wretched hive of scum and villainy, that's cool. Since I'm bored you can just ask me anything! Any sort of question. Whether Genessia related or something silly, just don't try too hard with edgy questions. Don't be that guy.

Action; Private to Aqua

[Dubai Subarchway, Nighttime. Troy decides to actually go home to his penthouse for once, instead of just crashing in his headquarters somewhere in the city like he always does. But Aqua and his AI assistant Silke has been taking good care of the place ever since Aqua had started staying here. It really feels to him like he was the visitor instead of the actual owner. But that didn't stop him from just raiding the fridge and plan on making dinner for the both of them. After activating holograms that show the steps and ingredients he'll need for this dinner, he fires up the stoves with a touch on the holographic screen. Whenever Aqua shows up, she'll be seeing him without a shirt on. But at least there's a towel over his shoulder? #Scandalous]

Hah, well look who showed up. I didn't think you'd come back early.

[He gives Aqua a nod with a smile. He's already predicting that she'll ask him to put a shirt on.]

[Pixy actually was already sitting there at the bar nearby, casually drinking his whiskey without much of a care of whatever's going on around him. Hey, he's got a job now. He can spend as much time at bars as he wants to now. But he does catch Troy from the corner of his eye, and Troy's pendant too, so he listens in on Troy's message. When he's done, Pixy just seems to make a passing comment.]

Former deputy and military, huh? Must have been exciting.

Hah, unemployment ain't my reason for celebrating. Cheers

[He lifts his pint of pale pilsen before taking a sip]

[Troy lowers and set his device aside when Larry made his passing comment. Troy paused to take his drink from the tender, giving the lady a nod before he responds to Larry]

You could say that. Military service runs in the family.

[Although his background is a little more unorthodox than his more decorated predecessors]

Y'know, it should be me buyin' you drinks. I still owe you for a certain bike.

[He was kind of meaning to invite Troy out sometime anyway, for both as thanks for the help getting the bike and... kind of a social call, really. But the whole "ask me anything" thing, Gale couldn't resist, and he winks.]

So, if you were a spy, how many "conquests" has a guy like you achieved?

[Yeah, "folks" is a word older people used even in his world, but he just got used to it but now it's hard to get rid off. Still, that wouldn't stop him from making a joke about it.]

Good point, young lady.

[Even though he's only a few years older than Blake really. He chuckles while he holds his pint of beer]

But nah, not at the moment. I got everything I need in my subarchway, so looking for employment isn't on the top of the priority list. I can get by with bounty hunting for a while.

[He gives Troy a bit of a side glance before taking a small sip of his drink.]

Sounds like you're well versed in espionage. That's no easy task. When you say an independent force, you mercenary or did you join 'em?

Depends. Does it only count for human girls? I stopped counting after 300

[Exaggeration? Maybe. He'll laugh it off. He never said he'll answer them seriously anyway]

And forget that owing thing. I'm just glad to help a brother out. That's good enough for me.

[And he sees that more as a Christmas gift]

[Gale laughs. He didn't really expect a straight answer anyway, he'll just ask things like that to mess with people.]

Not bad, rookie. But c'mon, only girls? You're makin' me disappointed.

[And that comment, Troy can take as he will. Gale might be serious, but it's hard to tell with the way he said it.]

Well, then I'll have to get you drinks sometime just because I feel like it. How's that sound? You can even invite your girlfriend too.

[Yep. He means Aqua.]

Mercenary... hah. The nerds back home prefer "private military contractor", but yeah, I guess I do fit that label. I work for the private sector, they're the ones backing up our ops with their tech and their endless wads of cash.

[He takes another sip before finally settling on the bar stool, leaving his drink in front of him and just resting his arms on the bar surface]

You? I'm guessing with the way you carry yourself and how the mention of military caught your attention, you're a soldier too.

Aqua? I think she'd get drunk off of wine coolers, so probably not... But I'll ask anyway, just to see her reaction.

[He laughs]

And hey, if you're feeling that generous I wouldn't object to free stuff.

Young Huntress, I prefer. All that training has to count for something.

[Gives a small nod of acknowledgement to his gesture.]

Seems that's the best thing someone can do here to get some extra money. I guess it also helps with keeping the skills in tact.

[He couldn't help but smirk a little at Troy's "nerd" comment. He finally turns his head to look at Troy when he sat down and gave a light shrug.]

Guess you could say 'former' if this place is anything to go by. Ex-mercenary pilot, to be more exact.

[The flight jacket was probably the give away in that regard, and the red hound patch on his left sleeve.]

[Gale just snickers.]

She's that much of a lightweight, huh? Well, there's always the non-alcholic stuff for her.

[He smirks, lowering his sunglasses further down the bridge of his nose.]

Gimme a time and place and I'll be happy to oblige. I think we all deserve it after that mess with the Red Claw.

[Which he's kind of mad that that 'Android 18' chick got all the credit for it, but he'll try to let it slide.]

They're not bad for a little target practice, yeah. The pay is decent too. The only problem I got is working with others with a completely different approach to things. Some of them just go blindly without any sort of tactics.

[He's not judging if that's the way they want to do things, and if it works for them, but he does things the opposite of that and it's sometimes hard to mesh with others in combat here]

[Troy noticed the jacket and didn't think much of it. In his world, the uniforms are different, and pilots are usually donning power armor like he does. He nods]

And what does the ex-mercenary pilot do now? You must miss being up there huh? I know the feeling of being grounded too long.

[He has his own fighter jet back in his world, customized to deal with magical entities that fly.]

How about now? I don't go out drinking unless I got something to celebrate about, so this is a once in a blue moon opportunity for ya.

[He didn't pay any mind to who got credit. He helped save the city, and that thought is good enough for him. He does find the bias and the false information to be a little grating though]

[He scoffs. Being grounded was annoying, but given what happened when he flew last, maybe he's not ready to go back up there yet.]

Not much I can do around here. Best I got is usin' those mechanical skills at a repair shop in this place.

[He swirls the drink in his glass a little.]

Needless to say, workin' on lesser equipment isn't quite the same as preppin' an Eagle for sortie.

Well, I can't miss out on that then. Tell me where you're hidin' and I'll be there before you know it.

[He was pretty tired of being cooped up in his apartment at the moment anyway, so going to hang out with Troy was definitely a welcome thing and he'll be making his way outside while keeping the video on.]

Tactics like that get people killed. Formation, I've learned, is rather key to any sort of fight.

[Gives a small shrug. After so used to being alone after fleeing the White Fang, she really has learned the importance of teamwork.] Let me know if you ever need a partner.

[Richard's smiling as the video cuts in, because this guy seems okay so far.]

Hello. It's good to meet you. I'm Richard Cypher. Because I came here, I... [You know, they don't know what a Seeker of Truth is here.] ...was a woods guide and a huntsman.

[He pauses, and his smile falters somewhat.]

I don't think I've heard of "paramilitary" before.

[He would most likely, but yet he would offer to pay for his own considering the other seems to be unemployed.]

[Troy was about to take another swig before he stops, turning his head to face Larry]

As in an F-15 Eagle?

[He loved that machine, though they're really old by the time he was born. Eagles, Tomcats, and Hornets to him are like Mustangs and Zeros to normal people.]

[He's gonna say it's their funeral, but that's a tad mean spirited. He had been partnering up with Aqua on previous bounty hunts, but teaming up with someone else isn't bad idea]

I'll take you up on that, the last one with takin' down some Red Claw thugs was pretty fun and I've been meaning to see what Beacon Academy teaches their students. I heard good things.
