Who: Aoshi Shinomori and You
What: Aoshi's a newbie and is getting the lay of the land like any onmitsu would. Come say hi.
Where: All over Genessia City (ending at Stone Ridge)
When: January 19, from early morning to about midnight
[He might be as lost and confused as any newcomer, but Aoshi Shinomori's not exactly the type to announce his presence. As soon as he's used to the communicator, he quietly checks the network for any signs of people he might know. Failing that, he goes for posts within the last 48 hours. Just... reading. Absorbing. Gleaning information that the welcome message didn't already tell him. Anything to learn more about what he's gotten into here.]
[His tour of Genessia City begins half an hour later. From early morning till midnight, a tall, dark, and gloomy longcoated man withwhat looks like a nodachi will be walking the streets. His slow stride and the way his gaze lingers a little too long on sights you're already used to should tip you off that he's not from around these parts. Ergo, a newcomer.]
[Say hello. He doesn't bite.]
(OOC: Since this is a whole day tour and Aoshi fully intends to see everything, you can pick a time and place and assume he's made his way there. \o/)

Early Morning
Hello, enjoying the view?
Action
[Terra’s voice is soft and light much like the delicate flowers which rested across her right arm. She had a small basket in her left hand which is filled with seeds and a few other assorted items all of which were used for gardening. She makes monthly trips around to the archways, even during winter, to see what seeds she might be able to find.]
Oh, I’m sorry. I’m Terra. [She’d shake his hand except they are full.] You were staring at that shop for a while. I wasn’t sure if you were lost.
[She’s be happy to help.]
The Amagi Inn it is
It is well-kept.
[He regards the dark haired young lady with a practiced eye. It is serious and dignified, but not unfriendly.]
Do you work here?
no subject
[His own voice is neutral and dignified, someone who isn't given to all that much talk. A little cold too, though he's certainly not being rude.]
Not lost. Merely... surprised to see it among all this steel and smoke.
[He means Genessia City in general. And that's a flower shop he's been looking at.]
no subject
I own it and work at the Amagi Inn. I'm Yukiko Amagi, I guess I should add are you planning on staying for the night?
no subject
[He's suddenly aware that he's rather hungry. He must have truly been asleep for awhile. Time to put the local currency to use.]
Not at present... but I could use a meal if your staff is up and about.
[And he's pretty sure they are, if this establishment is like any traditional ryokan from back home.]
no subject
[Her lips move into a smile, making sure that she was being a good possible host at least.]
I would make something myself, but I am still learning to cook decently.
no subject
Do you like flowers?
[She can understand not talking very much, since she had arrived in a similar state. Even now she says very little unless asking a question.]
no subject
[Terse yet sincere, though you couldn't tell the latter just from his voice. He nods once to let her lead the way, removing his shoes and coat before stepping inside. Piercing blue eyes study its interior just as much as they studied the exterior.]
A ryokan through and through.
[That one's more to himself, though it's loud enough for her to hear. If she looks, she'll see him loosen up just a bit. As if he's found something familiar in a sea of very alien things.]
no subject
[But that's the past.]
I appreciate their place in the world.
[And what of her? Is that her shop? Does she belong there amidst the green, delicate and unassuming as the rest of them? He doubts it. Her hands and the way she carries herself tell him that she's no wallflower.]
As yet, I am unsure of mine in this one.
no subject
I have a flower shop in Attleton. [She admits softly as she gestures to the flowers in her arm and the seeds in her basket. Winter is a tough time for flowers. She awkwardly shifts pulling a Bergenia from her basket. It's a light shade of purple with a few small flowers gathered along the thick stem.]
Here. This flower is known to bloom at the beginning of winter. [She passes it over to him with a kind smile.]
Maybe it can help you find your way.
no subject
...
[That's him about to ask how much she's charging. Or what she expects in return. But no; her words and sincerity make it clear she'll have none of that. It's... rather moving to find that people like her exist, outside of Battousai and the people around him. Gloved fingers curl gently around the bergenia to make the lightest of contact with her own. It blooms at the beginning of winter, does it?]
A promise of better things to come. I can accept this.
[He takes it as soon as she lets go, running a finger across the stem and admiring it in his own wordless way. The color reminds him of someone he knows. Someone he'd once shut out for her own protection, yet never gave up on him. He turns his gaze to the wider street. When it returns to Terra, those striking blue eyes of his are a little less cold.]
What are the best places to stay for a newcomer? My needs are very simple.
no subject
[She made sure to remove her shoes, coat and scarf for the most part before making her way toward the counter and going behind it, after all she was working.]
So you know what ryokan's are I see. Something you are use to?
no subject
A little more than most of us.
[By 'us' he means Japanese. It's pretty much a given that they both are.]
I work in one. This is the first sign of home I've seen since waking up here.
[Anyone else would've shaken his head in disbelief, just processing the very thought. Not Aoshi. He's quick to adapt.]
I gather you were 'taken' as well.
no subject
You worked at this style of inn to. It's... quite rare to meet someone else like that.
[She nodded.]
I am. It's easy to just try and see if someone is wearing a necklace. Whoever does is exactly in the same boat.
no subject
At his question she turns slightly and points with her head. (Her arms are still full).]
There is an Inn down that way. It caters those who've just arrived and helps people get used to this world.
[She pauses before continuing in a softer, shyer voice.]
After you've settled you should stop by my flower shop.
no subject
Hence this inn. It is your beacon for the lost.
[Not so much of a question as an inference. He's in deep thought all the way till his meal arrives. When that happens, the only things that break the silence are the soft click of chopsticks and a slurp of his tea as good manners dictated. But even while he dines, he's watching the staff's comings-and-goings. And of course, Yukiko behind the counter. Indeed, part of his silence stems from the firsthand understanding that she needs to get back to work.]
[At length, the onmitsu pushes his tray away. And knowing he has a few minutes to spare before the morning rush begins, he clears his throat:]
I see now that it is best to find strength in numbers. Among those who share my lot.
[He's going to be here for the long-term. It's the practical thing to do, lone wolf instincts aside.]
Are you hiring?
I guess this leads directly to the thread above. Haha. 8)
When I do, I'll be sure to give due payment.
[For all he knows, she'll have one less customer today. But she's made her choice, and he can respect that. He offers her a curt bow, as much farewell as it is thank you, before adjusting his nodachi and heading in the direction she'd indicated.]
[A chance meeting no longer than a minute or two. But Aoshi has the feeling he'll be seeing her again. Her and a lot of other people.]
HAHAHA I didn't notice that >.<
Terra's lips curl into a slight smile.] It's worth it. [She bows her head slightly and turns to head towards her archway.]
no subject
[She didn't think of it like a beacon of hope at all really. She grabs a cloth and starts to clean the counter before going to clean a near by table before noticing when he was done. It was her job sometimes to clean up.]
I'm hiring, yes. I don't think I'm ever not hiring. Do you want a job here?
no subject
My master was grooming me to take over the Aoiya, a ryokan in Kyoto not unlike this one.
[He does not offer the finished tray to her, out of respect for her role. But he does arrange it neatly for easy retrieval.]
I could assist you with maintenance and staff operations. And should there be anything I'm not familiar with, I learn quickly.
[A challenge to be sure. He can see those giant metal contraptions in the corner. The ones with glass panels through which glistening cans are visible. He doesn't yet know that it's called a vending machine.]
no subject
[She figured someone must have been teaching him then, but she couldn't help but smile at the fact that there was someone else except her that was use to this kind of thing. However she soon took the tray, going to the kitchen before ultimately returning.
It had given her at least a few minutes to think about it.]
I would appreciate that very much. I will add by working here you can if you like live here. It means no rent at least and no paying for food.
no subject
A custodian should be on site at all times. I'll take it.
[He meets her at the counter just as the first wave of the breakfast crowd comes in. There is a clink and shuffle as he hands in payment for his meal. No more than the exact amount. That's always appreciated.]
I know what I just said, but... will first thing tomorrow be alright? There is more of this city that I need to see before I begin.
[And maybe a matter of safehousing that needed attending to. He can't help being an onmitsu.]
no subject
[This was even if one was staying there a few days or something. All part of the package.]
As for the city, you are right there is so much to explore not only in this city, but the others as well.
no subject
[He'd thought the inn would have a package like that, but he'd only considered himself a diner, not a true guest. Nevertheless, it is appreciated. He bows, a thank you and farewell every bit as solemn as Aoshi has been so far.]
Tomorrow then. With your help, I look forward to making this inn the best in the city.
no subject
I'm sure with working together it will be and to give the people of this city a nice atmosphere and learning experience.
