Who: Satsuki and Jaune [Closed]
Where: Teanie Teas
When: Backdated a few days after this conversation.
What: Meeting eachother over tea since they've been paired in Weiss's plan to stop Cinder.
Warnings: None atm.
[Jaune could understand why Satsuki would want to meet him. When you knew nothing about the person you were working with, their strengths and weaknesses, you had a lot more opportunities to screw up. He wasn't going to risk that when it involved Cinder, so he arrived at the tea shop as soon as he could. Her chosen location confused him a little, but he entered with all the awkwardness of someone who didn't know what they were doing, other than he was meeting with Satsuki. He spotted her, at least he hoped so, and walked over and sat down.]
Hi. Are you Satsuki?

Hi. Are you Satsuki?

(OOC: Let me know if this is ok, if not I'll change it!)
Hehe~, sorry, I'm not Satsuki. Are you on a blind date?
[Satsuki just so happens to be a few booths further down; and is arguably the opposite of the bright-eyed girl mistaken for her. She's adorn in her usual military-like attire, with a frown upon her features that appears to only deepen as she saw the interaction.]
(ooc: sounds good to me \o/)
[He backs away, waving his hands and mumbling apologies.]
Well that certainly was a mistake on my part.
[He looks around. The shop itself is small, so there aren't many people it could be. His eyes fall on Satsuki. Her grumpy expression, well-kept appearance, and most importantly the uniform. He walked up to her. If he was wrong, he was wrong, but he was used to stern people.]
Are you here about Project...[He frowned, having to think about it for a second.] Make Weiss Happy. With puppies.
no subject
Yes, I am Satsuki Kiryuin.
[She gestures for him to take a seat.]
Your reputation precedes you, Arc.
no subject
[Taking a seat, he fidgets with his hands, raising his eyebrows in surprise for a brief moment.]
I have a reputation? I can't tell if you mean that in a good way. So are you a...specialist?
no subject
[And yet somehow she isn't surprised that he is surprised. Sigh. At least they have one thing in common that she can see thus far. At that very moment an employee approaches the pair and prepares Satsuki's tea. For some reason, there are several steps in its preperation.]
Could you explain what being a 'specialist' entails?
[If it's related to the mission, she'd understand if he waits until the employee is on their way. But before they're dismissed, she'd ask if Jean would be interested in a cup as well.]
no subject
[He was genuinely surprised. Someone who didn't know something he did? Or sort of did.]
I just...thought you were in the military because of your clothes. Does everyone on your world wear stuff like that? I guess you aren't one. They're important people.
[He probably should order something. He asks for something that sounds like it would be sweet and not bitter.]
no subject
[After nodding, she frowns a bit more. H- hey, she's important, dame it.]
Ah, I see. I come from a military academy, but I do not fight for Japan though several provinces are locked in battle; you could say I lead and represent Honnouji. I was also the Guardian of Nova City before Lady Schnee was elected.
[It's a bit more complex than that, but she decides it best to keep things simple for now. Jean doesn't have to guess very hard as there is a listing for 'sweet tea'.]
I would like to know a bit about your attire as well. I find it rather.. [Um.] Classic.
no subject
[He picks the sweet tea and shrugs. It's nothing he hasn't heard before. He never realized how out of place he seemed until he went to Beacon.]
They're hand-me-downs. They probably are classic. Most people in Remnant dress better.
no subject
Rival?
[That apparently catches her by surprise. Enough to actually bring a small, a very small smile to her features.]
I wonder if that is what she thinks; it is difficult for me to tell. But to answer your question, yes there is. I was pulled into Genessia shortly after sending out the order to march.
[She glances a moment to his armor. The fact that it might be old actually interests her.]
Does the thought that they dress 'better' embarrass you?
no subject
Weiss hasn't mentioned anything to me yet. But if she thought so strongly enough I think she'd be more obvious about it. What does that make you? General of...Honnouji?
[He shrugs.]
It kind of used to. But I don't care as long as it works. It's about how well it holds up, not how stylish it is.
no subject
[Beat.]
What I mean to say is that I consider us on good terms. We have been grouped together after all. You could say that would make me like a General, but I am actually the Student Council President of Honnouji. We are ranked by our school titles.
I have never seen family heirlooms outside of Japan before, nor do I possess one. I agree however that it is about how well the armor holds, though I personally would hold its history in high regard as well.
[She's almost envious, really.]
no subject
Are you interested in family heirlooms? [He stands up to draw his sword, expanding his shield and showing them to Satsuki. He was never impressed with his weapon, compared to everyone else's, but maybe it would interest her.] This is probably closer to that. My great-great grandfather fought in the war with it. I don't know much about history, or even care. But it's old.
no subject
A demonstration session could be arranged. I think it would be simplest to view Honnouji as a Military Academy- Various subjects are taught, but fighting ability is the primary focus.
I am somewhat interested, as my exposure to heirlooms outside of Japanese culture are limited.
[She takes a sip from her cup as he stands up, then presents his equipment. The cup is lowered as she furrows her brows, but she decides against judging him about that and instead on something else.
The primary sword styles I have contended against are kendo, aikido and iaijutsu. That sword does not appear to be made for use in any of those styles.
[Satsuki turns sideways in her seat then sets her hands out palms up. He may notice that at the opposite side of her chair is a slender sword of her own within a very decorated sheath.]
May I?
no subject
[She's talking to one of the ones who participated in an all out food battle. This is nothing for him.]
No, I mostly just slash things and try not to get hit in the process. Yours sounds more complicated.
[Her weapon certainly looks more elegant. He hesitates at her request, fingers twitching nervously over Crocea Mors, before he gives one more glance around him and offers it for her to take.]
Are we fighting in here?
no subject
[Satsuki isn't certain if Atlas rings a bell or not. She hasn't been paying attention to the network as much as she had when she was Guardian. She doesn't visibly cringe, but judging by her frown, she apparently doesn't like the description of his style. Then deeper at his suggestion.]
Do you believe this a suitable venue for sparring?
[Maybe.. Just maybe there's a method to his madness. After shaking her head she looks the weapon over, handling it as respectfully as possible. It isn't like her sword at all.]
I've not seen a weapon like this outside of museums. It's interesting to me that something like this is effective; why do you lack interest in your family's history?
no subject
[He's so used to judgemental frowns by now that he doesn't even blink. He does give his surroundings a glance though and seems to realize the stupidity of his suggestion.]
It is kind of small. And you're drinking tea. You don't seem like the kind of person happy to have it spilled all over you.
[He watches her carefully, but something in his eyes clouds over at the comparison.]
Uhm, I can show you sometime. It's not sophisticated, but it's still sharp. I am interested, to a point. I don't care about all the details, but I know it's important. I just...I want to be a part of it, but they never said much. So I stopped asking. And books and lectures make it all seem too impersonal.
What about your weapon? It looks important.
no subject
[Once she's done looking the weapon over, she hands it back, again with the blade flat on her palms. Of course she notices the slight change in his eyes, but whatever she ends up thinking is brushes aside as he confirms he does hold some interest.]
I would appreciate that; I could do the same for you if you wish. But I understand now; it is difficult to obtain information when one is unwilling to share.
[Maybe the time just isn't right yet. Her father had done something similar after all. Finally, she nods as she picks up her metal-striped sheathe with foreign lettering etched along it. Once drawn out, it's revealed to be a quite decorated weapon: a grey-bone handle wrapped in slender leather edged with gold twine, with a curved blade that's almost ebony in color blade. Long story short, it's ridiculously fancy looking.]
This is Bakuzan, forged by my father. [There's a pause and she can't help but appear disappointed. In herself more than anything.] I.. Suppose it is.
no subject
Sparring should be enough. I kind of understand why they did it now. At least I think I do.
[He shrugs. There wasn't any point thinking about it now. As Satsuki reveals her weapon, Jaune shows the first hint of enthusiasm. There might be literal stars in his eyes as he leans forward, hands clasped to his chest.]
Wow. It's so...sleek! And your father forged that by himself? [But something about her disappointment resonates with him. Even if he has no information to go off of.] It looks like it was meant for you.
no subject
I believe he did. I had my suspicions at first, that he truly possessed the ability to forge Bakuzan by himself, but it turns out he was far more talented than I dreamed.
[Following the last comment, Satsuki's expression actually softens as she looks the blade over, and holds it upright. it reflects the light in such a way that it makes the blade appear mystical.
Perhaps touched by his interest, she holds the sword sideways and offers it to him.]
And yes, it is. I was supposed to do something very important in my world.. However, a subordinate from my future alerted me of my failure.
no subject
[The way Satsuki words it makes it sound as if it had been around before. At least conceptually. His eyes widen at her offer and he cautiously takes the sword. Holding it certainly feels different than Crocea Mors. He turns it to watch the light play off of it, in awe.]
[Satsuki doesn't seem the type of person who'd appreciate someone trying to justify any failures or show her a lot of sympathy. He hasn't known her long, so he isn't sure what she needs to hear, but letting yourself and others down sucks.]
Did you just hear that?
no subject
Oh, no.. The existence of the mystical or the paranormal are basically unproven in my world. I never suspected my father was a swordsmith at all; he was a scientist.
[Talking about him seem to makes her happy, but.. Eventually she realizes she's probably saying far too much. Stupid approachable Juane!]
Last year. [Her cheeks pinken as her frown increases.] Anyhow I was just a little shocked and have been considering how to circumvent the issue since.. I do not even know why I'm telling you this.
The point is I am interested in a spar. There is an arena at the Academy that we could use, though perhaps another day.
