04: Uncertainty (Open Video & Action at The Dancing Donner)

Uhm... Hello.

[ Adela is on the feed then, in a warm and bright room – likely her room, considering that the warm light is more than likely candlelight. She seems serious though, frowning at the camera as she tries to figure out what to say. ]

I... I do not know how else to ask this, but... I wish to hone my skills with the sword and to improve. Is there a place for me to be able to do so? Or perhaps someone to spar with, so that I could? You do not need to use any kind of weaponry if you do not wish to, and I will use a wooden training sword myself. Please let me know, if you can.

Action, The Dancing Donner

[ She sighs once she turns off the communicator, and her clothes back on even after she's bathed she decides to go downstairs, though she doesn't try to talk to anyone or interact with anyone but one of the servers. The Dancing Donner is as active as ever tonight, but she just feels like... Well, maybe having something to try and soothe her nerves.

Having a warm cider in her hands, Adela just stares at her reflection in the drink, trying to think about what she's going to do from there. In fact, she gets so lost in thought at the time that she fails to notice anyone or anything around her in the bar, whether they take interest in her or not.

... At least until a newspaper gets tossed through the doors and lands in front of Adela. She's startled enough to nearly spill her drink at that (the bloody thing nearly hit her head!), and she blinks hard before sighing and paying the paper boy. Well, now she can keep up with the news at least. ]

You're a swordswoman? If you want to spar with someone, train and improve yourself, there are two women at our guild who are both phenomenal and I think they would welcome sparring with others.

I do not know if I can say that. I have practised swordplay to test a blade's effectiveness before, but I must practise it for more than that, now. I cannot say that I am particularly skilled, not knowing how I would compare to the women you speak of.

Well, isn't that the point of sparring? To gain skill in swordplay and get better? It won't hurt to call them. The worst that'd happen is they'd say they weren't available at the time.

... It is, I must give you that.

How would you say they are at swordplay?

[Hm...a girl who wishes to walk the path of a warrior. What a familiar feeling to Saber.]

If it is a sparring partner you seek, I would not mind lending my time to help you. I am ill suited to training however; so you must content yourself with merely learning how to fight through sparring with me.

You would need to provide wooden swords if you wish for it. All I possess on me is my own sword.

I'd be happy to have someone to train with as well. [Especially as the longer she stays in Genessia the longer she realizes it's not always safe.]>

[From time to time Fai enjoyed going to bars when not working, or looking after the pokemon or other things. It was the best place to relax and from time to time the best place to gather information. But today was just a day to enjoy a good drink or five.

Turning his head he was quick to notice a flying newspaper. It... was oddly surprising to see it not hit someone for a change.]

Seems like you were the unfortunate target of the paper boy today.

[Toby is already sitting that the bar, towering over those around him. He is sitting in the corner as if the height of the wall might dwarf his own stature. He brings his drink to his lips and gulps the cool liquid down. He's surprised to see the paper go soaring through the air though his expression doesn't change. It's difficult to sneak up on him and he's ready, moving his own drink clear as the paper thuds in front of Adela, who incidentally is sitting at his left.]

Careful.

[He warns in a soft voice before replacing his drink back on the bar's polished counter top. Despite his gruff appearance his word of advice is pleasant, almost amused at the sudden interruption.]

I could spar with you, certainly.

[He even had a teacher of his own, but guarded him jealously.]

Phenomenal. They're among the strongest in their respective guilds.

[Roman would usually ignore this sort of post, but it's been an unusual week for him. Make a deal with the devil to clear his criminal record: check. Get an actual, permanent residence, under his real name? Check. Legally purchase a bottle of whiskey? Lord, he couldn't even remember the last time he'd done that.

He's enjoying that legal whiskey as he replies, lounging against a packing crate in the middle of an otherwise bare room. From his relaxed demeanor and overstated gestures, it looks like he's enjoyed the whiskey a little too much.]

Oh, that shouldn't be a problem. There's no shortage of trigger-happy meatheads here who would love to fight you.

Oh, I see that you survived the trip home.

[Grell smirks to the girl with a cup of tea in front of her, but she's definitely at home.]

Perhaps you should hone your directional skills first, before trying to poke someone's eye out.

I can see about crafting them or commissioning them from someone else should my skill not be enough. I would rather not train in my usual manner as I am seeking to make use of my swordsmanship for far more than merely testing a blade's merit.

You may not see yourself as suited for it, but to be honest it might be exactly what I need. I cannot improve if I am being coddled and not pushed.

It... Seems so. I have heard rumors of how he has injured people or broken windows with these in the past.

[ She huffs out a breath at that, shaking her head and putting her cider down before opening the paper.

Only a minute later, all of the colour drains from her face as she's reading the paper. There... There's no way, that article, that interview, they can't be true... Can they?

In fact, she's stark still for quite some time after once she's read it, trying to take it in. She feels cold, suddenly... Almost sick. ]

... I shall keep that in mind, should I receive the paper in the future.

[ She sighs at that, shaking her head as she takes a sip of her cider. She can read it in a minute, the near miss has her a little frazzled. That and she's trying to keep on top of the response on her communicator, so there isn't much of her attention she can spare for it right this second. ]

Just how do you fight, if you do not mind my asking? I use a sword, though I cannot say I would mind learning of other ways.

Then they would probably be wonderful to learn from. It is a little strange to try and train simply for the sake of becoming better with the sword, but I must if I wish to become strong enough to help others as they have helped me.

Forgive me for not saying sooner, but my name is Adela. May I know yours?

[ ... Uhm.

She's staring a little bit, blinking because what? ]

I... See. In a spar, though? I do not wish to fight outright if it is not needed, sir... Only to be skilled enough to defend those I care for should the need arise.

[ Oh. It's her. ]

I did not need to know how to read maps before, and I have since learned how to read them at least a little now, thank you.

[ That might sound kind of snappish. ]

Is there anything else you wish to say?

Yes, actually.

[Pauses dramatically! She even adjusts her glasses.]

Congratulations! [GRINS] What sort of cake would you like?

... Congratulations for what?

[ She's so confused right now, what is even going on with this lady. ]

[Come to think of it, his masters didn't really name their styles, per se. He counts off his fingers.]

Well there's basic swordsmanship; Ike's fond of the two-handed style, though that does sting a bit without a shield to absorb blows. I've also been taught some kendo, in addition to gymnastics and that sort of things to make sure the legs are left out.

[This sounded sillier the more he described. Emergency topic switch: activate!]

For being able to read a map, even a little! You'll be less of a liability to everyone around you!

[ She can feel her temper rising and her grip on the communicator tightens. If that's not obvious enough, maybe the scowl pulling at her expression then is. ]
