4th Shadow | [Audio/Private Video]

[For a while, Cipher was getting ready to write off the majority of this realm as 'boring' with only a few points of interests here and there. After all, he spent his days doing one of three things: living Liam's life as a con artist, stalking the dark streets of Everglade to feed, or simply resting with his generals in the walls of his subarchway's temple. But it seemed with this latest newspaper, things had potentially started to get interesting. A distorted, echoed chuckle rises from his throat as he begins to speak in his usual distorted, doubled voice.]

And here I had thought this place was becoming dull. Perhaps I must learn to be more patient, as it seems quite a few seeds of chaos have been planted. The Hands of Decay, the Gray Feather Guild, and a risky play by Nova City's Guardian.

[Of course, there was still the unknown factor that is Diablo. But he can't go giving that surprise away, can he?]

I can only hope mortals will not prove themselves again to be disappointing, but such is to be expected of those who believe they carry more power and influence than they really do.

[He seems to hum to himself as he then thinks aloud.]

I do wonder in particular, how long it will be before that guild of halfbreeds is crushed.

[Now this, this is one thing that intrigued him the most. Roman had actually played an interesting card, one that surprised even him. Making use of that new little crystal to be able to make a deal with a Guardian? He had more nerve than Cipher gave him credit for.]

[He would start the message in audio before the feed would switch on. Seeing that Roman was already aware of Cipher's true nature, there was no need to keep himself hidden in this case. He's simply sitting in the throne within the subarchway's temple, elbow resting on the arm and his chin resting on the back of his hand. One of his generals also happened to be standing nearby, but not paying attention to Cipher's business.]

You've caused quite the stir. I'm sure you are rather pleased with yourself.

Who even knows. I'm sure people would try and crush them sooner or later... Because that's what monsters do to those who are different.

[Which would work to her own benefit. Not that she makes it obvious, of course.]

Of course. It is those who believe they are greater than they really are.

But in due time, they would die just as all the rest and learn that the 'power' they were convinced they held was all just a farce.

I completely agree~! Most burn brightly, but DIE off quickly. As such, they play fast and hard, which makes them do absurd things.

In any case, things have certainly become interesting, despite someone stating that life here was quite the opposite.

The notion of starting an immediate rebellion without even bothering to ask the Guardian or the police for aid first is absurd in itself. They are simply asking to die well before their time.

Are they justified in taking action against those who use them and look down on them as lesser beings? Perhaps, but they are likely ill prepared for the consequences of their actions.

They obviously think the actual authorities are incompetent. [She takes this time to shrug, even though it's voice.] Let them DIE while KILLING each other. It would be their just reward.

[Not to mention, entertaining.]

Their battles are their own, and I have no intention of standing between them. It simply proves yet again that mortals are bound to make the same errors over again, and none shall learn from their ancestors' mistakes.

[Death, destruction, chaos...they all excite her.]

I wouldn't be one to get between mortals and their wars, either. Better to watch from afar with something to munch on.

If it is even worth that much. Such battles run their course and become just as dull and predictable as every battle like it that came before.

I, wonder, if any others in this realm will decide to get themselves involved. Many do enjoy their... 'heroics.'

[He couldn't possibly sound any more unimpressed with that last word.]

Too many of them, honestly.

This is true, that many a battle are similar in nature, but there are a few that are worth the attention. Perhaps whatever occurs here could be one. There are a number of factors at play. Most of them hidden, if we're to go by that previous post.

[Nathan doesn't like this guy's tone, which normally means he loses his temper, but he's getting better at that recently.]

You know what's funny about us mortals? We're usually the ones who win. I can almost guarantee that, considering the ego of "immortal people". If you won more often, you'd write a book about it, and no one ever has written a story where the evil immortal beings win the day.

And about that guild? That's the funny thing about passion and belief. They're stronger than oppression.

You shouldn't say things like that.

People are trying their best and we can work to help everyone.

[Azalea knows what it's like to be treated differently for being a dragon, thanks to the Beastclans. Not that it's ever pushed the dragons down in any way.]

I'm not even sure what to think when we don't even know what makes these halfbreeds think that they're being pushed down. What has anyone done to them?

Many are likely to test what they can say and get away with behind the veil of anonymity. I do not expect to see anything arise from those 'discussions' as it were. However, the chance is still there, but more often than not I have found that they only use that veil to scare others.

But... I have been surprised before. I suppose we will have to see.

[Ah, there's one of those uppity hero types that get bent out of shape over everything. He was wondering how long it would take for one to show up. If he's amused, he doesn't show it, his tone remain just as calm as before.]

I do not believe I made an allusion towards which was 'better' in any regard. I simply referred to them as boring. I've no interests in your righteous attitude, which you have clearly misplaced.

And they are being oppressed by others mortals, as it were. Perhaps, if you believe so strongly in 'passion' then maybe you should go to their aid. I'm sure they would love to hear your speeches instead of murdering those who could be innocents for all we know.

Yes, I am sure the Everglade Guardian is capable of helping everyone. And yet, those halfbreeds immediately chose the route of murder and violence, instead of approaching law enforcement peacefully for help.

Funny how that plays out.

I will not doubt that they have faced oppression for their nature by few individuals, but it would seem that they act as if the whole world is their enemy.

In my time in Everglade, I, for one, have never bore witness to any indiscretion towards any particular race or breed during the day. After dark, it is simply kill or be killed regardless of who and what you are.

We can still try and talk to them...

[She sounds a little unsure.]

They're just hurt.

It does seem to be that way. It's good that you haven't seen such oppression during the day.

[But the nightly curfew still remains a mystery.]

So that law isn't just an oppression against humans?

As are those who have lost loved ones amidst these attacks. Does one deserve such sympathy more than the other now?

Had they played with even the slightest amount of caution, they would have taken a peaceful approach. Now, both parties will want to bypass the formalities and take it straight to bloodshed. It has happened before and it will happen again, where the error of one will spill the blood of many. This time, it will be both that of halfbreeds and 'purebloods.'

Tell me. How do you propose to approach these parties without instigating further battle?

One would only see it as oppression because that's how they want it to be seen.

The night creatures that dwell in Everglade are likely to not target strictly humans. They will attack whatever they deem as suitable prey. All living creatures have more than one source of food.

It's not about power at all. It is how one uses such power. It's like saying that the people who have died were killed by a group of people, but yet were only killed by one.

That's not because they are considered powerful, but because they know how to use it to their advantage. It's all about being smart.

It won't be easy. [Sakura replies sounding more like the young princess she is.] But I believe in them and it might be naive for me to say so but I have hope.

I believe that they don't truly want bloodshed but for a chance to be understood. I want to give them that chance.

It still seems strange that they would make it a law. Beasts are killing each other for food all the time, and that's just how nature works. Why do they need a law to be allowed to do that? Do the creatures not have their own territory in Everglade?

Hm. A solid point. Making such a move would be able to paint the others in a bad light, without much they can do about it.

[He does forget that mortals are a little smarter than he realizes sometimes.]

Should that be the case, I do wonder who was responsible for that article and just how much information they think they have on the situation.

[Because honestly, if someone was using this as an excuse to irradicate a faction without them doing what they claim, Cipher himself may decide to step in. Tactics of genocide don't exactly sit well with him.]

Such an outlook is admirable. [Naive as hell, but admirable.] I can see why you have your position, Deputy.

[To think he had unintentionally protected one of the city's deputy guardians a few months ago. An odd turn of events, to be sure.]

The fact that you and the Guardian are able to still seek peaceful methods in the wake of bloodsheed is something that many mortals do not carry. Some would be likely to choose a side and eliminate the other, regardless of what the truth of the matter was.

[A quiet chuckle.]

Even I must admit that I am slightly impressed by that.
