[ It's early in the morning, when the sun is first peeking past the fog and most of the undead critters are going back home. Sneaking out of Castlevania is no easy task (okay, it's not hard when you've got succubus scent scaring off the majority of the demons, but still), but Konoka doesn't like sitting around if she can help it. She's not a hostage, and at least her benefactor has acknowledged as such. But that meant she needed to make a living... and healing others for a price didn't quite sit well with her. Healing was her number one passion, and she'd rather do what she can unfettered by a paycheck.

But on the other hand, there was something she had an interest in that she didn't quite pursue as much at home: Eastern magic.

Sure, her pactio card was also a Eastern style healing technique, but the majority of spells she used were western in origin. Her studies on it gave her enough knowledge that she'd be able to use it, but she remembered Secchan had lent out Eastern styled spells for others to use. To that end, why not use her own expertise and sell some charms?

The process for making the business was... surprisingly easy. She spent her days staking out a good spot, opting to take an abandoned store as her own. Much of the rest of her initial allowance had been blown setting things up... if she failed, she'd be even more dependent on Castlevania... but that beat being stuck there with no effort!

The store was officially open today, but whoever came in would likely see the brunette still trying to get some trinkets--and her own omyoudo charms--in order. The layout of the store was still a bit basic, but it would have quite a few things in it. ]

Oh, hey everyone! I've opened up a new store in Everglade. I sell Omyoudo charms, so you can do stuff like put barriers up or summon familiars. I also heal free of charge!

You're going to close at dusk though... right?

[She doesn't go to Everglade since she's no longer a deputy there but she can't help but feel a little worried.]

By the looks of things, yeah. I may have gained partial immunity through reasons I don't really understand, but I'm not gonna try my luck.

Besides, monster warding barriers would be useful in places outside Everglade, too.

I suppose so.

[Levy is also concerned about your customers.]

These barriers.. what sort of magic is it?

[ That is a good thing to be concerned about, and it's not like Konoka isn't. But she's kinda airheaded about stuff like that, so. ]

They're magical barriers. Simple stuff that can either do something as simple as alerting you if certain kinds of magic happen, or full on repelling demons. And Omyoudo charms can do more than that, too!

What can they do?

[Sena is still horribly new which means she's horribly scared. If charms can help her, she wants them.]

Well, Omyoudo charms can do a variety of things! Most useful thing they can do for everyone though is barriers and wards. Useful for around here in Everglade.

Elsewhere they'd probably make for good luck charms or very simple familiars!

Yes but what classifies a demon? What are the rules of the barrier? Like could someone redirect the magic and slip through?

[This is something she'd been thinking about a lot lately so she's curious.]

Hmmm!

I tried it on a few things, and 'demon' is a little tricky to classify since it's not like it is at home, where 99% of the demons are summoned.

But they work on undead and anything that's 'summoned', so long as the user specifies that!

Well, they can be defeated by sheer magical power, but that would take some exceptionally strong demons. And someone not recognized as hostile to the charm could rework it, though you could make another charm that alerts something like that, too.

Charms are of course, magical and degrade over time, so be sure to reapply them!

What about the undead, vampires, werewolves or zombies? They aren't technically demons and they are some of the high populations of those feeding off of people.

[She used to be one of Everglades Deputies.]

There are others as well but you should focus on the common ones first. At least be specific.

Ah, I'm sure I just said they work on undead... we had charms at school that worked on a super powered vampire once! But it was kinda overdone because that vampire wasn't actually a bad person...

Anyway, the charms should work on vampires, provided someone with enough magical power places them down!

Werewolves could be stopped if there's magic--or malice--in their transformation, but I'd have to test that out.

[ Konoka felt a little flustered. She should have expected such sharp questions, and they were at least helpful, considering she could work on her weaknesses, but it was still not easy! ]

I want good luck! [And protection, but good luck was more likely to get her home.] I need luck to get home, so I'll take them. How do I get them?

Well, you need to come over to the Everglade during daylight hours! My store's open!

[Levy smiles.]

That's good. I've step a fair amount of time in Everglade so if you want some help with anything let me know. I'm glad you have things like that for people.

[She doesn't mean to make Konoka feel uncomfortable.]

I've just opened up and my offerings are kinda basic, is there a safe spot you know of I could practice in Fayren when the store's closed (you are from Fayren, right)?

What kind of barriers, if I can ask that question?

That isn't the wicked kind of mysticism, is it? Not witchcraft or black arts or anything?

[Ted's really into that stuff but he also has to follow da rulez]

Oh, and if your shop closes in the evening, and someone needs medical attention, where could they look you up, if at all? And are you choosy about your patients? [In case he roughs someone up down the road, he'd prefer it if she refrained from healing any bad guys. Otherwise he might have to break their legs or something.]

How do I get there?

[She's done no research at all, not unless crying and walking around aimlessly would qualify.]

Ah, well I have a book store in Fayren. I live in Genessia.

They're largely the warding kind. Stick them on a surface and you can protect it from creatures like the undead or demons. They can also ward regular humans too, so please be careful.

No no no! Not at all! Eastern magic is publically practiced by some of the mages in my world!

[ well, as public as mages were allowed to be, anyway. ]

Currently, I'm living in Castlevania but there's nothing stopping me from being on call if there's a medic hotline!

[ Well yeah, she lives in the same spot where all the more dangerous monsters live! ]

There's um, a main road that leads from Everglade's gate. If you travel for about ten minutes by walking, you should see a cottage with a yin-yang symbol somewhere. That's my store!

Hmmm, could Genessia be a good spot to practice too? I admittedly haven't been out as much as I should.

Anywhere would probably work as long as you find a good spot to do it.

[She frowns.]

It's a city though so there isn't much open space. The park might be good. I don't know what your practice entails.

Ah, I see. That might help a lot of people who live in Everglade.
