[When the feed starts up, Dante is sitting at his desk, feet propped up on said desk with Nevan in his lap, addressing the device as it's propped up against something on the desk, with faint thrash metal playing in the background.]

Y'know, over the last couple weeks, I've been doing some shopping around, looking at various gates, etc. I've discovered some really interesting music, from various worlds. And, since I don't really have a solid income doing what I'm most qualified for, I figured why not. I'm gonna start a band.

So yeah, consider this an open casting call or something.

Stupid! How can you just try to make a band?! You should be trying to get home instead of just being okay with it! H-how are we going to get home if nobody is trying?!

[Clearly, yelling at strangers is a great start.]

A... band?

[ Bei Dou knows a hell of a lot of stuff but the guy he sees in the video sure does not look like any kind of orchestra player that he has ever seen before. Congratulations, you've succeeded in making the ever amused death god somewhat befuddled. ]

[She looks slightly amused when the video initializes.]

You're starting a band? You know it has to be a metal band, right?

[Open casting call? He can't stop a grin.]

I'll be the cranky old man who yells at you kids to keep it down every hour or so.

[Dante isn't even phased by the response, just running his fingers along the neck of Nevan, throwing some sparks in his finger's wake.]

Look, I'm good - and I mean really good - at what I do for a living. Mainly hitting things really hard until they stop moving. I want you to tell me just how that is going to help us get home?

I can play Nevan, maybe bring some happiness to the people here while they work on a way home. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the people actually good at working on that sort of thing to be happy, relaxed, and thinking clearly. Not yelled at and tense.

Yup. A band.

[Well, trust him, he was befuddled when a lightning-bat succubus turned into a scythe/guitar, but he's not complaining.]

Well, rock, metal, jazz, I'm not putting anything off the table.

[That gets a chuckle.]

Sounds like a deal! Not real musicians unless someone is telling us to be quiet.

You're a fighter then! That's good! [Suddenly, she's more excited.] Instead of a band, help me find the person who kidnapped us, and you can stop them! That's what heroes are supposed to do, and unless you're a side character or a bad guy, you have to be the hero.

[A beat, a pause.]

Eh...are you a bad guy?

Nice. Now if I can just find that cane... oh, there it is.

[It's hanging on the wall behind him. It's a cane alright. The hapkido kind. He laughs softly.]

Seriously though, good luck. I haven't been here long, but pretty sure putting up a band among us outsiders is a first.

I thought metal was the devil's music.

[Sakura is catching up after being gone for a week. She smiles at the screen though if Dante has seen her before he might know her smile is stressed.]

What kind of band is it? I can play string instruments. The one from my home isn't common here but I know how I can play others too.

[She can't explain how she knows but she does.]

Haven't really decided yet. I mean, I listen to all kinds of music, and can play just about anything that a guitar can do, so.

[He isn't familiar with Sakura, but he can tell when someone is stressed, and will gladly serve as a distraction for that stress.]

There are people that have been here for years with no sign of a person responsible for all this. We're starting to think there isn't any person behind it, that this place has a will of its own.

[He shrugs, flicking the string of lightning on the guitar sitting across his lap, causing a rather discordant sound.]

Well I'm definitely not a good guy really.

So was jazz and rock at one point.

[Dante grins a bit, shrugging.]

I'm a man of simple talents. I know instinctively how to use any weapon I touch.

[He lifts Nevan and shakes it a bit as it unfolds into a scythe.]

The fact that Nevan doubles as a guitar and weapon means I can play her like I've been playing guitar all my life. Figure so long as there aren't any monsters that need beating down, the least I can do is bring a smile to someone through music.

[All while being a showoff. It's a win-win!]

[A distraction is exactly what she needs.]

I can play most anything and I've listened to many types of music as well. [Thanks to the fact that she's traveled against worlds.]

What instruments do you need?

[If it has strings she can play it.]

[Crystal smiles at the screen.]

My skills lay in other areas but I'd be interested in hearing your marry band play. [She's seen who's replied so far and she can't help but be curious about what sort of band this might be.]

[Minus the instinctive part for Marc. It's all learned.]

That's... that's great. More than most of us could do, I think. I'm a little past beating anything down myself these days, so teaching others to watch their own backs is the next best thing.

If you're not a good guy, does that mean you're starting the band to do something weird? [Sena, all blonde haired and blue eyes and suspicious aura, leans in closer to the camera.] Are you the one who brought me here? If you are, I'm not going to forgive you until you send me home.

[ Only the guitar part about that would surprise Bei Dou. ]

You hardly look like a member of any band that I have ever known before.

[Dante is just going to roll his eyes.]

I'm not a good guy, I'm not a bad guy. Things are never that black and white. And really, if I were powerful enough to reach across dimensions and pluck anyone I wanted out, I'd either be twirling some sinister mustache as everyone danced at the end of my strings, or would just be watching from afar. Because nobody chose to be here, and as such there's already quite the line formed to kick the ass of whoever did it, if there is a someone.

Look, kid, I'm every bit a victim as you are. I could either make demands of people, accusing them of things at the drop of a hat that would really get on people's nerves... or I could make myself useful somehow. Entertaining people is useful. I'll do that.

[Nevan is one of a kind, after all.]

You haven't seen a whole lot of metal bands then.

[That gets an arched eyebrow.]

Yeah, I take after my old man like that.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Not sure I could handle the teaching gig though. Don't have the patience. Besides, getting old isn't my style.

[He shrugs a bit.]

Tell ya what. Bring whatever you can play, and I'll find some way of working ya in.
