[Video] Backdated to the end of the persona kidnapping plot/Late March

[Conan was terrible at being rescued. He resented the idea that he had needed to be rescued in the first place, let alone the fact that whole ordeal had left him with enough injuries that a hospital visit was necessary.

He was also a terrible hospital patient. This was less obvious, because at times like this he knew the value of acting. And there was damage control to worry about now.

As soon as all of his injuries have been seen to and he is finally left alone, he reaches for his communicator and turns the camera on.

He smiles brightly into it, with the kind of cheerfulness that would make anyone who knew him well very wary indeed.]

Hello! I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm okay now! Dairine-neechan and Kaitou Kid-niichan and everyone rescued me and made the bad person go away. He was really mean, but I'm at the hospital now. Soeverything's okay.

[ After Conan is left alone and after he makes that announcement, he'll find Kaitou KID sitting on his window sill, feet kicking back and forth like the kid Kudo Yusaku named him after.

Really, he had meant for the atmosphere to be a lot more serious, but he can't help but comment. ]

'Kaitou KID-niichan'? I didn't know you saw me like that, Tantei-kun~

[He keeps his expression wide eyed and childish.]

You don't like being called that? How mean, Kid-niichan.

[His expression and voice relax into his usual sour demeanor.]

Consider it damage control.

I never thought I'd see the day you'd willingly call me that, s'all.

[ He hopes down from the window, taking a moment to dust off his pants and fix his cape, before fixing the other with a look. ]

Verdict?

If I can put up with calling Hattori that, I can deal with this.

[Said with annoyance.]

I won't know until the other two you dragged along on the rescue show up to talk.

Oi. I didn't drag them along, that was your darling roommate.

[ Speaking of which, he needed to have words with her as well, but that could wait for another time. ]

I was speaking of your injuries, Tantei-kun.

[He waves a hand dismissively.]

Nothing to be concerned about. If I wasn't a kid they probably would have let me check myself out by now.

[Which was a slight exaggeration of the truth. ]

I'll have a talk with her then.

Tantei-kun, we need to have a discussion of various injuries and their levels of concern.

[ You forget, Kudo, KID had been there for some of your injuries. He was not about to believe the words that came out of your mouth. ]

She was worried about you when you didn't return home. Worried enough that she contacted me for help to try and find you.

What's with all the concern? It isn't like I got shot this time.

....I really should have guessed.

[He really did need to have a talk with her about overreacting.]

[ KID is just going to stare at him with a flat look. ]

People are only allowed to worry if you get shot?

[ Like seriously? ]

If she's been around you long enough, she knows your track record, Tantei-kun.

Ah, you've revived! And in cheerier spirits, too. Can't say I blame you, for it was a foul place. Would you like company? I can even lend a spectral friend, if you don't mind your quarters somewhat haunted.

Dairine tends to over-react to that kind of injury in particular.

[Dairine had also been bullied into a hospital visit after her spells had taken their toll. Somehow the group refused to accept that this was normal and rest was all she needed. How irritating.

On the brighter side, that meant she could visit Conan more easily. After some brief treatment, Dairine slips away to find his room. It doesn't take her too long. She hears his overly chipper voice through the door and rolls her eyes. Three knocks, and Dairine pokes her head in.]

Are you done with that?

[....He'd actually been hoping they'd both be too distracted by the little kid act to ask any questions. Even if they didn't have context for most of the information that had been revealed, it was still far more information than he was comfortable having revealed.

Conan liked to keep his secrets close. It was the only way to make sure everyone would be safe.

[ KID just stares at him. ]

You honestly don't understand that people worry about you, do you? Especially when you get injured.

[ He shakes his head. ]

Dairine-san is your friend, in case you haven't noticed. Of course she's going to react to things like this.

Not right now.

[Dair has plenty of time to get to that.]

I wanted to see how you were doing. What'd the doctor say?

Mostly bruises. They think I might have a mild concussion, so I'm stuck under observation for now.

You're being strangely concerned today.

[No, he didn't get it at all. ]

[Oh, right. Most people don't actually like ghosts. Especially kids who are now recovering from, more or less, the molestation of the numinous. Sorry Gengar, no free tv for you.]

That I can grant--and a gift. Hopefully visiting hospitals won't become habitual, what with all that's going on. Perhaps everyone else will be there; a regular 'rescuer's reunion'. I'll be along shortly.

Sounds like you got off light this time.

[Dairine pulls the door shut behind her and walks over to sit in the visitor's chair. Her left arm has a bandage on it, which Conan might notice.]

Some of them have come to visit already.

[Not that he expected anything different from Kid and Dairine. ]

In a manner of speaking.

What happened to your arm?

"Ah, I've been shown up again! How do people always beat me at these things? In any case I'll--" Ted bumped into a pedestrian.

"Ah! Sorry! Walking and talking should be divorced, apparently. Soon, very soon!" *bwip*

And, thanks to cheating with the life fiber suit, Ted arrived in a matter of minutes. By now he knew the way, if only because people kept showing up here. He made his way into Conan's room without ceremony.

"Good morning! I've got something for you." He rummaged around in his bag for wrapped present. It had a bow and everything. The package was white and purple, shaped in a rectangle, weighing at 2 pounds.
